Logging Exercise
Is anyone else having MFP calculate your exercise calories as negative? I did 480 calories worth of exercise yesterday, and it took away from my calorie goal instead of adding to it, leaving me with only 1200 calories to eat. How can I fix this?

Nutrition Plans for Picky Eaters?
Hey, all! I've hit a plateau recently after nearly 30 pounds of weight loss. I have been so focused on calories in vs. calories out that I wasn't really paying attention to what I was eating. Now that my weight loss has slowed, I'd like to focus more on nutrition, but I'm a really picky eater. Most of the nutrition guides…

Negative Calories?
Hey guys! I'm hoping you can explain something to me. Every morning when I first pull up MFP, under the exercise section it has me at negative calories. Today, for example, it says -158 under exercise, which is taking away 158 calories from my daily allowance. I've used MFP many times and I've never seen this before. What…

Fitbit Question!
Hey guys! So I'm not new to MFP by any means, but I AM new to fitbit. I'm going to be starting C25K tonight, and I'm wondering whether it's better to log exercise in the MFP app or in the fitbit app. MFP thankfully told me to log food just in the MFP app, but it didn't mention anything about exercise. Any other tips you…

Slow Cooker Woes
Hey everyone! I just recently got a crockpot as a gift from my parents. I was absolutely thrilled about it until I realized that I can practically never use it on a weekday. I'm out of the house nearly 10 hours on weekdays, and I just haven't seen any recipes that are long enough without being so long that I wouldn't be…

Jawbone Up
Okay, so I had a twenty minute conversation with a coworker today about her Jawbone Up and how much she loves it. She raved about how great it was and how she had a fitbit and didn't like that nearly as much as her up. So, since I was in the market for a fitness tracker, I looked it up on Amazon out of curiosity to see how…

NROL4W
I'm thinking this is okay to go here since I'm technically asking for recipes. (This is also my second posting of this because I tried about a week and a half ago and got nothing.) I'm planning on starting NROL4W in the near future, but I'm not a huge fan of most of the provided recipes. I don't want to just eat whatever…

Chicken for Salads
Hey guys! I'm not sure if this should be here or in F&N, so if I should move it, just let me know. I have recently discovered that I find salads much more enjoyable if they have slices of chicken in them (thanks, Saladworks!) But I have no idea how to cook chicken for this purpose. I know plenty of chicken dishes, but none…

NROL4W
Okay, so I wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the recipes section. I opted for here, but don't hesitate to let me know if I should move it. I'm planning on starting NROL4W in the near future, but I'm not a huge fan of most of the provided recipes. I don't want to just eat whatever since I know how important the…

Yoga Pants
Ladies, where do you get your yoga pants? I've got a few pairs of typical active-type pants, but sometimes I'd just rather be wearing a pair of comfortable yoga pants. Do you have any store or brand suggestions?

Fitbit Flex
I've never given much thought to the fitbit, but in perusing QVC this morning, I saw that it's today's special value. It's only $90, and can be split into 4 payments. Is it worth a try at this price? I know the most activity I get in the work day won't be logged- the flex is on your wrist and I'm pushing a cart during my…

Black Friday
I don't know about you guys, but my gym is smack in the middle of about 20 straight miles of stores that are having Black Friday sales. Today I'm starting Stage 1 of NROLFW, and I intend to do three workouts a week- Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Black Friday being what it is, my normal "avoid everyone/traffic" method of going…

NROLFW Recipes
Hey guys! I just finished reading through the nutrition section of NROLFW, and while there are some great ideas in there, they're kind of limited. I was wondering if anyone had recipes that fit into the macro ratios of the nutrition plan but were different from the ones listed. Thanks in advance!

New in the Weight Section
So I'm almost totally through reading NROLFW, and I'm really excited to be able to start the workout plan. But I also don't want to make a complete fool of myself. With my luck, I'll get in the squat rack and not be able to lift the bar from the rack or end up accidentally hitting someone with something. Any suggestions on…

Female Lifters
I'd like to get into weight training, but I feel like the free weight section of the gym is off-limits to me. The few times I've gone over there I've gotten some seriously judging looks. I can't say for certain whether it's because I'm a woman or because I'm starting with such small weights, but it makes me uncomfortable…

Cook Book
I couldn't decide whether this should go here or in Food and Nutrition, so I just decided to put it here. Does anyone know of a cook book that's specifically low-card recipes? After analyzing my diet, I realized that 90% of the food I eat/know how to make is entirely carbs, and I'm hoping having low-carb recipes at my…

Fitness Misconceptions that drive you nuts?
I'm just curious to see what you guys have heard from people who don't know anything about fitness. My most recent one? "Running makes your boobs smaller" *eye twitch*

Logging Exercise
Hey everyone! So I'd like to be able to keep track of my exercises on MFP, but I have a problem. I'm using the TDEE -20% method, which means my daily calories already account for my gym visits. If I log any exercises, it gives me calories back that are already included in my daily allowance. Is there a way to get around…

Need Support Through S10 of SPN
Because I know I'm gonna be a mess. And when I'm a mess, I eat. So if there's anyone else out there who's going to be suffering through the final season of Supernatural, I think we should create a support system and help each other get through it without sacrificing all our hard work.

Easy and Quick Recipes?
I hesitate to even use the word "cook" when referring to myself. My skills range from pasta to canned soup, with nothing but grilled cheese in between. I'd like to change this, but I have NO IDEA where to start. I figure maybe seeing some recipes that don't have words I don't know the meaning of in the preparation. If…

Getting Back on the Wagon!
And I could really use some accountability friends. People who will look at my log at the end of the day and go "wait a second, you didn't log lunch" or "make sure you remember to complete the log so you don't just keep eating". I'm more than willing to return the favor, and I have practically 24/7 access to the site both…

Deadlifts + Back soreness. Normal?
Hey everyone! I just started doing deadlifts for the first time on Monday (and did another set last night) and along with feeling it along the backs of my legs, I've got serious DOMS in my lower back. I know that bad form can cause issues with that, but I've been doing them in front of a mirror like my PT taught me to make…

Not a HUGE success, but I feel on top of the world! NSV ftw!
Hey everyone! I haven't logged in quite a while, and honestly, I think that's been the best choice I could have made. Calorie counting was extremely stressful for me, and ever since I stopped counting and just focused on gym days, I've felt so much better both emotionally and physically. But now to the success. My gym…

Hard-boiled eggs
Do they keep? I'm looking for something that I can make/eat in a short period of time for weekday mornings. Are hard-boiled eggs the kind of thing I can make a whole batch of on Sunday and have them for the rest of the week? (I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but I've never even had hard-boiled eggs. If my mother…

Ticker
Okay, all of the sudden my ticker is saying livre instead of pounds. Everything else on MFP is in English, so it's not like I changed the language setting. What happened?

TDEE
Hey everyone. I'm currently using the TDEE method instead of MFP's method, and I had a question. I know TDEE takes into account the amount of workouts per week when calculating your deficit. But is the calorie count it provides only for the days on which you work out? For example, it gave me ~1700 calories. Do I only eat…

DOMS and water retention
Is there any connection? I had a really hard work out on Thursday, and when I went to weigh myself yesterday, I was up three pounds. I know that that's all water retention for healing my muscles. But my question is whether the soreness I have is any relation. Like, should I wait to get on the scale again until my muscles…

Stretching
Hey guys! I've read several different comments across a bunch of posts here that say that you shouldn't just stretch. Something about cold muscles vs. warmed muscles? I had never heard this before, and my whole life I've always stretched before doing any physical activity of any kind. Is that something I need to change?

Sunburn - OUCH
Hey guys. Monday was a beach day for me, and like every other beach visit in my life, I came home sunburned. It's across my shoulders, and so sensitive that the fabric of my shirt moving across it is incredibly painful. Today was supposed to be an arm day at the gym, but trying to lift my arms above shoulder level…

Really Upset
Hey everyone. Tuesday was my first monthly nurse's appointment at my gym. I know that I'm overweight. That's never been in question for me. But when she used the caliper to determine my BF%, it came out at 39%. That isn't overweight. That's OBESE. And I just kind of sat there, looking at the number, trying not to cry.…
