Any other bar exam takers?
I know this is kind of a long shot, but ... any other recent law school grads studying for the bar this summer? This is such a uniquely challenging situation (in every aspect!) and it would be great to have others to share the whole, "I'm not giving up my weight loss goals despite this summer of hell" aspect of it. :)

Running & Water Retention?
So, my eating has been spot on this week but I have actually seen some weight gain in the past week. I am definitely not worried about it because I feel great and am seeing changes in the mirror, but I'm just curious as to why that is. I've gone for a run every day this week (that's about normal for me, I usually run 4-5…

Why Portion Control Doesn't Work
I read the following article, "Why Portion Control Doesn't Work and What to Do Instead," and it left me with mixed feelings. Was wondering what the MFP world would have to say about it... http://www.bodylovewellness.com/2012/08/13/why-portion-control-doesnt-work-and-what-to-do-instead/

Tea -- Hydrating or Dehydrating?
I googled this and got conflicting results. I drink a lot of tea... Does anyone know for sure whether tea hydrates you (since it's really just hot water with herbs) or dehydates you (because it's caffeinated)?

Backtracked
So, I've gained 15 lbs back from my lowest weight in the winter (I was just a couple pounds away from my goal). A combination of being super busy tackling work and law school, family drama, and just generally getting lax with my diet & exercise. I'm not looking for sympathy; what I AM looking for is your stories. Has…

People that have been married 20+ years...
The concept of it amazes me. (And kind of intimidates me... I want that, too!) So tell me, happy husbands/wives of years and years... What's your secret?

Should I take the risk...
Background: this summer I am working in a different city and subletting an apartment from my boyfriend's friend Alex who lived here but then moved, but still had some time left on his lease. He's not allowed to sublet, so it's on the DL, but he said they don't check and there's no way they would really find out. So my…

Online Body Fat Percentage Calculator
So right now I don't have a scale with BF% or calipers, I plan to get one or the other soon but for right now I'd like to estimate my BF%. I know it will be off with one of these online calculators that use body measurements to take a guess, but has anyone used one that they liked and/or found to be not horribly…

Progress Pics
For those that take progress pics regularly... I'm curious. Do you take them at certain weights, or on certain dates? (i.e., after each 10 lbs lost, OR on the first of each month?)

30 lbs lost -- pics!
I am more than halfway to my goal weight of 128 lbs and FINALLY, after years of losing a little just to regain, am at a healthy weight according to the BMI charts. Just wanted to share some pics -- happened to find these two of me making the same laughing face :)

Is this possible?
I have been weighing and measuring and I have not lost pounds or inches since starting the 30DS (17 days ago), but I took before and halfway pics and I swear I see a difference! Is this possible?

Weekends
Like many people, I eat great during the week; the routine of it all keeps me in check. But once the weekend hits, it's a disaster. I usually start off with a healthy breakfast, but lunch and dinner are often at restaurants (especially since we travel a lot on the weekends). Any tips for having a fun weekend that doesn't…

What does 287g of fries look like?
So one of my favorite splurges is duck fat fries (they are fried in duck fat and tossed in all kinds of amazing herbs)! I know - terrible for you - but they are soooo yummy, and I only have them once in a blue moon! My problem is that the only entry in the database for duck fat fries is 436 calories for 287 grams. But…

size 29's NSV
I've been stuck just above 140 for months so I am trying to look for other ways to keep myself motivated. Yesterday I bought my SECOND pair of size 29 (US size 6) jeans -- so I know the first pair wasn't just a fluke!! I've never worn lower than a size 30 (US 8) jean in my whole life, so it was a great feeling :)

ladies - how has your new healthy lifestyle affected...
How has your new healthy lifestyle affected your menstrual cycle? Mine's been pretty irregular for the past few months, coming and going as it pleases (in late Spring, I didn't get a period for 43 days!) I'm thinking it may be due to changes in my eating and exercise habits. Does anyone else have experiences with this that…

HRM question - How often do you...?
Since HRM calculate your calories burned using the weight that you input, and the amount of calories burned goes down as you lose weight, after how many pounds lost do you go in and change the settings on your HRM? I'm currently at 5 lbs below what my HRM has me as, and I'll probably change it after I drop a couple more.…

feel like giving up...
I have been losing weight slowly but steadily for the past 14 months or so and over that time I've lost 37 lbs. But now I've been at just above 140 lbs for the past 2 months. I don't even want to call it stuck, because I know that my diet and exercise have not been stellar. Still, they've been good enough all this time to…

July 5-4-3 challenge!
Here's the deal. We're going to aim for: -5 lbs lost by July 31st -4 (maximum!) "bad" days (ie, days when we go over our cal limit)... that's one per week! -3 (minimum!) workouts per week We'll support each other and keep each other accountable... throughout the month, we can come here to talk about how we're doing. It's…

Me, size 4?!?! (pic!)
So I went shopping today and saw a cute skirt for work. I grabbed the size 8 (my size) along with the size 6, just to see how close I was to the next size down. Put on the 8 and it was HUGE. Put on the "6", and it fit juuust right. Then I looked down at the tag.... I had picked up the 4 by accident! There I was, standing…

HRM vs. MFP cals burned?! so confused!
Which calorie calculation do I use?! There's a huge difference. For example, today MFP told me I burned 551 cals for 55 min on the elliptical, while my HRM told me I burned 675 cals.

5 lb gain in a week
So this past week, I visited my parents in my hometown and came back on Tuesday 5 lbs heavier. (The familiarity of a home where I overate for years, plus everyone telling me how good I looked, blahblahblah, excuses.) Anyway, I told myself it was mostly water weight, but after a couple days of eating healthy again and…

At what rate should I be losing?
So since last July I've lost a little over 30 lbs, at a slow but steady rate (10 months divided by 30 = 3 lbs per month on average). I have just under 20 lbs left to lose to get to my goal weight of 128 lbs, but I'm finding it so much harder to lose the weight now that I am getting close to a healthy weight. Whereas before…

Cheat Days
I've seen people on here talking about taking "cheat days". I am a little reluctant since I've never done it, but I kind of want to try having a "guilt-free" day, since as things stand now, when I allow myself to have something delicious but bad for me, I always feel guilty. So just a question to those that take cheat…

15 Reasons to lose those Last 15 lbs
I am down to my last 18 lbs, and I sometimes find it hard not to just say "Girl, you've lost 32 lbs! That's good enough! Eat that pizza, drink that beer, and don't worry about calories in and calories out!" I know others are in the same boat... I just saw a list on the boards "100 Reasons to Lose 100 lbs." It's great, and…

in the spirit of accountability...
THIS explains my recent "plateau"... I did so great when I first started on MFP... but I got too comfortable, and the old habits are creeping back! The past couple of days (after Easter, the most recent spike) have been good, so here's to keeping that up... and to not whining about a "plateau" when I have clearly been…
