Cooking with nettles/nettle recipes?
We've got a patch of nettles in the garden that hubby's determined to get rid of this weekend. Well I was thinking, can't we just eat them? Anyone got any good nettle recipes? and advice on how to pick and prepare them without being stung?

My first 5K? when did you first say "I can run 5k?"
When I started on the C25K app, my target was to be able to run 5k without stopping. I moved off the programme, because I wanted to mix it up, and recently I've hit the 5k distance jogged point, though mixed in with short walk sections. Last night, I know I jogged for more than 5k. I covered around 5.8km, and walked a…

Needing alternatives to "well done" and "great job"!
I feel like a stuck record, and like I don't mean it, when I keep writing variations of "well done" on posts. So far I have "well done" "great job" "good work" "lovely" "nice!" "nice one!" "woah" "wow" for massive calorie burns! "excellent" "nice going" and variations there of.... Random thought: why do we write "great…

Looking for an online UK nutrition course
I'm interested in learning more about nutrition, and I'm considering a home/online study or even a night class study to learn a bit more. Does anyone have any advice on courses? I'm not looking to become a qualified nutritionist, but I do have a science background, so nothing so basic that with a short refresher I'll know…

Do people even look at diaries before they comment?
I have mfp friends that regularly or semi-regularly log very VERY low nets cals. And I mean 600 or below, or even regularly in the 3-400s. If I see a diary that low and it's unusual for them fine. If someone has had a massive burn and is struggling to plan the extra cals in, I might offer support with some advice on how to…

To the teenager that "insulted" me on my jog tonight...
when you shouted out "run fat *kitten*" at me to try and impress your girlfriend as I jogged past, what I actually heard was running! RUNNING! me! What I was doing counted as RUNNING even while you were trying to insult me You have no idea how happy you inadvertently made me

Which transmitter for a polar ft40?
I bought a "bargain" polar ft40 heart rate monitor on ebay, but it didn't come with the wearlink transmitter or chest strap. I know you can get an uncoded and a coded version of the transmitter, but I can't find information on which type I need for the ft40. Can anyone help me out?

Worst ever christmas/birthday/whatever present!
What's the worst present you've ever been given? Last christmas, I got a fake rock, with a cat painted on it from my mum. It wasn't even a good painting of a cat. It was hideous. I dont even know what it was for, probably a paperweight or something. My sister got one as well, and managed to sell hers on ebay!

Running in cold weather
I'd love to start the couch to 5k up again, but it's getting colder, and when I breathe heavily outside, I get painful teeth (they're quite sensitive and I hate sensitive toothpaste) and a sore throat from the cold air. Any tips? I also found this link for anyone else that wants to run in the cold - it's not given me any…

Mirena coil users - weight loss/gain after removal
I suspect that this wont be an issue, but I was wondering if anyone had any noticeable changes to their weight or weight loss progress after having a mirena coil removed? Probably having it taken out in the next few months and want to be prepared! It's an IUS, rather than an IUD, and is a small coil with targeted hormone…

When someone tells you they need to lose weight, what do you
When someone tells you they need to lose weight, what do you say? I used to say things like "you look great already", anything but agree with them that yes, they do need to lose weight, because somehow, agreeing seemed rude, or offensive, and we're trained to say nice things to people. Then when I reached the point when I…

Altering the wii fit bmi graph?
My wii fit was telling me I'd hit an ideal BMI (which I know itsn't true yet), and I realised my height was in wrong. I've corrected my height, but this only adjusts my BMI for future weigh ins. This means my BMI graph looks like I suddenly put on weight. Does anyone know if you can force it to reset the graph based on…

I found these articles and thought it was interesting, and surprising! http://lifehacker.com/5836187/how-much-alcohol-remains-in-a-dish-when-cooking-with-it "Conventional wisdom says that alcohol added to a dish gets cooked away, but in fact, a large percent of alcohol still remains in the dish, depending on your cooking…

My very own NSV!
I started this journey just over 4 months ago, for health, for fitness, and also with the intermediate goal of getting fit for walking the inca trail in Peru. Joint supplements
I'm off on holiday in a few weeks, and part of it involves a four day trek, mostly uphill, at altitude. I've been doing a lot of walking in preparation, but I found at the end of saturday's walk my knees were a little sore (and still are today). It's probably to be expected, because we were walking for 6 1/2 hours, but I'm…
