Today I've had my usual breakfast, but lunch will be here - http://gkpubs.co.uk/files/menus/prem-highstreet-pb7.pdf
and dinner will be here - http://www.youngs.co.uk/cms/menus/Kings Arms Oxford Menu in Word Dec 2010.pdf

help!

I have 1075 calories. Just eating main courses at each place, but would love a drink tonight if possible. I don't like peppers, or beans/pulses (green beans are ok, "grainy" beans like baked beans, kidney beans etc aren't! and I will eat peas if pushed).

Hmm, maybe if I have jacket potato for dinner with tuna, sweetcorn and mayo? Or would ham egg and chips be better? Daren't bank on the soup in case it's cream filled, or lentil or peppers.

I can't access the 2nd link but i'd have something like salmon or chicken for lunch then if possible a steak for dinner. I generally avoid chips...go for jacket potato if you can as the side. Maybe go one healthy and one splurge...and defo have a few drinks!

I was thinking of jacket potato as a main! The chicken seems to be smothered in bacon and cheese and the salmon fillet comes with cheesy mashed potatoes :(

    This one looks ok though
    Tandoori Chicken Breast on Couscous
Served on aromatic vegetable couscous topped with
    minted yoghurt and cucumber dressing.

I'd go for the salmon fillet or the angus steak (hold all thebits an pieces and ask them to add salad).
thats for the first one, second I cna't see the menu. the mediertteranean pasta looks ok too.

    thanks both :)

the boss is paying for lunch so I think I need to avoid the steak - will play around with a few options in my diary and see what works

Why not get the salmon but ask if you can have steamed veggies on the side instead of the mash?
Or the tandoori chicken, that looks delicous.
Ask for any sauces on the side, ignore the bread, stick to one drink - and you'll be fine!

Wondering if it's a British thing, but we seem very reluctant to ask for changes to a dish from what it says on the menu for fear of a) looking picky b) being difficult and c) getting embarassed in front of whoever we're with. Stupid really.

Think I'll will try with the tandoori chicken with asking for the dressing on the side, and maybe next time I can work up to actually asking them to swap potato for veg!
  • It is not just a British thing (reluctance to swap out foods), it is a European thing. But lately most places I have been to are used to the exclusion of the bad carbs in favor of the good carbs - if you ask up front if it is possible then you are not going to be embarrassed (call ahead).

    Enjoy!

    Ainsley Harriott - Roasted Vegetable Style Cous Cous (Uk), 130 g 188 36 2 0 7 4 I
    Homemade - Tzatziki Dip (Cucumber, Greek Yoghurt & Garlic), 3 Tablespoon 66 3 5 0 3 3

I actually meant the Tanodoori chicken...not the other one...far too sinful!!

I'd go with what you've put it...you'll never get it accurate but it's a good idea. Bit hard with portion size...they might give you loads of couscous so maybe don't eat all that. I'd def try and have some good protein with bothe meals and a small amount of carbs if you are having a few drinks...don't make the error of drinking on an empty stomach!

I'm in the UK and i'm very picky...not fussy, but i'll ask for the healthier option....sod them...you are paying them remember (well your boss is) lol
