Why did it take me so long to figure it out (Weight Watchers)
I have been going back and forth between WW and calorie counting since the beginning of the year, unable to decide which is the better program for me. Well, last night I finally figured it out. There is NO way that Weight Watchers would work for me long term. Calorie counting is so much simpler, and it's sustainable. I had…

Can I lose on 1,650 calories a day?

How is Weight Watchers successful for so many?
I signed up for WW (again) and lasted a week. I find it to be so restrictive. A 200 calorie granola bar is 8 points...that is 1/3 of my daily allowance. I see so many success stories over there...but wow, are they all whole food eaters that never get a craving for something sweet??? :-D

Help please with figuring out macros (prediabetic)
I was diagnosed as prediabetic this summer, and since then, I have cut way down on the carbs. As a result of course, my fat and protein intake are up. I average 100 g carbs/100 g protein and 80 g fat per day. I am a 47 year-old female, 5'6 and 147 lbs. I eat around 1600 calories and I am losing .5-1 lb a week (goal is 140…

If you have switched from Weight Watchers to calorie counting only, what made you switch?
What made you decide to quit WW? I am *still* torn between the two. I know that I eat healthier on WW, but I also feel restricted (1/4 of my daily points on a 150 calorie granola bar??). I don't have a huge amount of weight to lose, but it would be nice to get it off one way or another. :)

Can I lose on 1,800 calories a day?
I am a 5'6 female, 156 lbs. Can I lose on 1,800 calories a day (net), or am I kidding myself? I want to lose a total of 10-12 lbs, and I am not in any hurry. 1/2 lb loss a week would be fine with me. eta: I exercise 3-5 times a week for about an hour each time, but I also eat back my exercise calories (why I say 1,800…

Calories left at the end of the day: do you roll over to the next day?
I have 600 calories left (I eat 1700/day). This is almost unheard of as I love food, lol I'm thinking I will roll them over to tomorrow, then giving me 2,300 calories for the day. :) Anyone else do this?

5'6 females, 155ish lbs...how many calories are you eating per day to lose weight?

5'6 females: what do you consider to be a healthy weight, and what is your personal goal weight?
Curious to know. :)

Purposely setting daily calorie goal to maintenance?
I cannot stick with any diet longer than a few days. :( I am wondering if I set my daily calorie goal to maintenance, if this would somehow help 'psychologically' in terms of not feeling restricted/deprived with the lower number. Has anyone here done this?

Anyone lost weight with intuitive eating?
I'd like to try this once I reach my goal weight. I tend to be an emotional eater (and a boredom eater) though, so I'm not sure it will work for me (?).

Best way to kick sugar habit?
Cold turkey? I am finding that if I have just a little bit of sugar, I want more. I love cookies, ice cream, etc. and have tried to eat those things in moderation. It is VERY difficult for me. I have tried hard candy, but it just makes me crave more sugar, and I end up eating cookies. I know that I can't avoid sugar…

Freedom!!!
Counting calories is SO much better than counting points on "that other program", in my opinion. I know that if I have a craving for fast food or a candy bar for example, that I am not going to eat up (ha ha) almost all of my daily points. I feel so much happier already.

Do any of you eat whatever you want to get the weight off, and will worry about nutrition later?
I have been going back and forth between calorie counting and Weight Watchers since the first of the year. I just don't think WW is going to work for me, as I find it to be really restrictive (a 150 calorie protein bar is 1/4 of my daily WW points??). I have only ever been 10-12 lbs over my ideal weight, so it's not as if…

MFP or WW?

Discouraged
I started tracking my food last Tuesday, sticking to 1650 calories a day. I had set my weight loss to .5 lb a week, as I didn't know if I would be able to stick with anything less than 1650 (I like to eat)! ;) I got on the scale this morning and had GAINED 1.5 lbs! So frustrating. I even walked 6 miles the other night and…

How do I set my weekly "start day"?
I want to start weighing in Monday mornings, and having my weekly calorie allowance begin then (I am going to try keeping track of my weekly calories instead of daily). I can't find anywhere on the site to do this, or on my phone. I have an Android. Does that make a difference?

Weekly calories vs. daily calories
I think I am going to keep track of my weekly calories (stay within my allowance for the week), rather than trying to stay under a certain amount each day. Some days I'm hungrier than others. :) I'm wondering though what is the best way to do this? Calculate the day's calories consumed and subtract from the weekly…

Question about weekly net calories (phone app)
I started tracking my food on Tuesday. I have my goal set to 1,650 cal/day. I have been under by a few hundred calories each day. I was just looking at the "nutrition" on my phone app, and under "weekly", it says I am "7,515 net calories under weekly goal". Does that mean I have that much left for tomorrow, Saturday,…

Anyone here bank their calories?
I'm talking about unused calories at the end of the day. I had 200 left over today, so I made an exercise entry for tomorrow in order to add them to my allowance. So, instead of 1,650 calories, I now have 1,850...which is great because I'm going out to lunch with some friends. :) When you have left over calories, do you…

Have you ever just wanted to quit and...
try and do this yourself, by cutting back on portion sizes, cutting out the junk and NOT counting calories??? I get really depressed when I think about having to do this for the rest of my life. My mom always said "if you want to drop a few pounds, just cut out the junk food and go for a daily walk." I only have 10 lbs. to…

How to get rid of sweet tooth
I have a huge sweet tooth and I'm beginning to wonder if I should just get rid of all the junk in the house and try and quit "cold turkey". I can't have "just one cookie" or "just a bite or two of cake" and be happy. I tend to keep going until I feel sick. I don't do this with other foods (meals, salty foods, etc)...just…

Can MFP be set to "calorie cycling"?
I don't think so, but thought I'd ask. Is there any way to set daily calories to a certain number for each day? For example, 1400 on Monday, 1600 on Tuesday, etc, so that it all averages out to say, 1500 a day by the end of the week? Hope this makes sense!

Lose weight on 1,680 cal. a day?
I'm 5'6, 154 lbs., and my goal weight is 145.). I have heard that if you have 10 or less pounds to lose, you should strive for losing .5 lb a week. MFP set my calories to 1,680 (I entered "lightly active"). I walk 3-5 times a week, for 30 minutes each time. 1,680 seems like a lot. ???
