Which activities are you doing this summer and why?
I can't decide what I want to do. I can really only commit to one regular thing. Thinking about dance, volleyball, stand up paddling, and dragonboat racing. I like the balance and focus SUP promises, and the idea of being around water. Dragonboat racing = water, and it's a team sport (a good thing). Maybe a bit grueling,…

Good YouTube stretching video?
Looking for 30 mins of quality stretching guidance, with a lower body emphasis (every bit, including ankles). Not yoga or ballet or anything that's asking my muscles to do anything, just a straight-up stretching routine. Need to iron out some DOMS and other things. I don't mind stretching right after workouts, but get…

How far can I get in two months?
I'm ok with where I'm at (5'7 now 136 lbs). I've been eating at maintenance, working out 3-4 days a week, with a mix of bodyweight and other resistance, and cardio, mostly on the bike, have been doing this more or less consistently since the fall. I'm somewhere in the range of 25-30% bf (probably on the higher end). I look…

What are your best tips for increasing energy?

how long does steak last in the fridge?
3-5 days, apparently. BUT - what about aged steak, people age steaks, right? Maybe I can get away with it. I think it's 6 or 7 days old... (wrapped in paper and then in plastic tupperware).

Spring is finally here and I'm already sad
Because the good times are going to end in a blink. We only get 4 months of decent weather where I live. I am not sure if I want to deal with that anymore. Has anyone here moved primarily for this reason?

one no-sleep day a week

Hitting macros, micros & cal targets with gut issues
I am having to eat more starchy stuff to get my guts under control, and am struggling with getting a lot of fibre in. This tends to up the overall cals (because pasta, rice, bread) as well as making it hard to get in enough vits etc (not to mention getting the fibre). Any tips?

Walking on treadmill - form
Dumb question, we all know how to walk, but anyway - when I'm walking outside, I feel like I do it fine without thinking about it. On the treadmill though, especially when I've set it to a fast pace and uphill, when I'm kind of fatigued, I sometimes feel like I'm dragging my body or trying to keep up, and the treadmill is…

Give me your best tips on broiling meat
Especially for steaks and chicken with skin on. I love crispy chicken breast, steaks seared in butter, kebabs - those I usually cook with high heat on the stove top, but it smokes up my place something awful. So I thought I'd try this (cheaper and apparently less smokey than a separate indoor grill.) But it's weird to me…

Cracked lip
My lips were very dry about a month ago, and I was lazy about moisturizing. As a result, my bottom lip split down the centre (right in the middle), then healed, then split again, healed, split. It's split and painful and I want it to heal for good - anyone have this experience and know how to do that? I bought some…

gyms crowding this time of year?
I might have to find a new place. Everyone s thinking about summer abs now :( Things have been getting really busy this week (huge lineups for things busy)

Menu planning around food satiety:nutrition / macros
I'm trying to tighten up my diet. Usually, I do the best I can by improvising, based on my preferences and what's available. (Lol and of course what I've learned from the experience of logging for years.) But until this week, I'd never tried pre-logging, which was helpful - I made better choices on those days. Today, I…

Forgot name of gym owner
He greets me by name every day (though to be fair he sees it every time I swipe). I heard his name once when I signed. I think he's noticing I don't know his. What's a suave way to figure it out?

How do frozen grapes taste?
I bought a huge bunch (no other option at the store I was at). Wondering if the texture will be same as fresh or worse (doubt it'll be better).

Black bean chili
I did a version of this http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/236609/black-bean-chilli that turned out really good. - 1 cup tomato sauce (I had some homemade stuff on hand. If the one you have isn't oniony or garlicky enough, maybe add some of those) - 1 cup black beans - 1 tablespoon paprika - 1 tablespoon cumin - 1…

What are your macros? Fave foods? Targets?
I was just poking around my pie charts and saw what I've been doing macro wise for the first time, lol. I haven't thought much about this and I thought maybe others would be into thinking things through. Whatever my targets are, this is what I typically actually eat: - 20% protein - 35-40% carbs - 45-50% fats This reflects…

Eating for recomposition
So I know meal timing tends not to matter generally (e.g. on the matter of hours). But I've read it does for recomposition (hence the advice to cycle calories by eating at maintenance on lifting days, and at a deficit on non-lifting days). How much does adhering to that timescale really matter, vs. averaging things out…

29 things to do with meatballs
I love meatballs - they're easy to cook, filling, & adaptable. Came across this list of ways to eat them and thought I'd share: http://www.buzzfeed.com/rachelysanders/exciting-meatballs#.bewYJ28Rmd I often make 1-2 pounds of it (well, sometimes the same stuff gets turned into burgers, or meatloaf without the glaze - it's…

Food manufacturer math
This was on the rice I made today. Serving size in nutritional information: 35 ml Serving size per person as listed in cooking instructions: 62 ml (250 ml / 4, when 250 ml is meant to prepare 4 servings) I can't wait for this to make sense soon.

You with HRMs - bodyweight circuits > machine cardio for burns, yes?
I am pretty sure that I used to burn WAY more doing intense timed bodyweight circuits (like Zuzka Light) than I am now on the bike (even doing intervals) and elliptical. Wondering if anyone with some kind of monitoring device other than a scale can confirm. They were more fun, too.

Does regaining weight typically mean an increased bf % relative to your original %?
I remember reading that somewhere ages ago, just wondering if anyone is up on this. (I know it doesn't matter one way or the other, the answer for it is the same, just curious.)

Gas stove clicking
Sorry, don't know where else to put this - so I was cleaning the top of my gas stove (with baking soda and water). It's an older style, white with black thingies. Stove starts clicking regularly, every half a minute. When it stopped freaking me out enough to turn on the knobs to check, I found that two burners weren't…

Why did I actually make my target today?
Anyone willing to take a look? I can't remember the last time I ate this little. FYI - "lunch" was actually dinner, and the skinny latte was lunch. I went quite a bit over yesterday, but that's happened before, and I've rarely made target the next day. I worked out yesterday, did nothing today. I usually eat less on…

Strong Curves
I just looked at the training log and have poked around the forum - is it really high-volume bodyweight stuff for legs all through up until the last week, no weight at all, in the bodyweight and beginner programs? Looks like it goes 3x10-20 for most exercises, 4 days a week, which looks like this: A B HIIT C A HIIT Rest…

How does this look in terms of recovery?
I'm doing higher volume stuff right now (12-30 reps - under physio orders, please don't give me lip) - as well as a bit of resisted cardio intervals (bike) to make up for not being able to lift very much at a time. I've read that cardio with some resistance can work synergistically with lifting to build muscle, I'm kind of…
