Does regaining weight typically mean an increased bf % relative to your original %?

I remember reading that somewhere ages ago, just wondering if anyone is up on this.
(I know it doesn't matter one way or the other, the answer for it is the same, just curious.)

One would expect that to happen, unless one is working out a lot while gaining weight. Initially, you would gain weight by storing more fat. However, over time, you would eventually gain back the muscle that you lost while losing weight because your muscles are working hard to push the fat around.0
