Looking for friends
Hi I haven't been doing at all well recently but I refuse to give up. I'm 42 and have around 6 stone to lose. I have a few supportive friends but most are not currently active on MFP so I'm looking for a few more. It would be great to support each other. If you're looking for more friends please add me

Increasing stamina after long term illness
Hi I used to be fit, even when I was fat, but due to being ill for many months I have lost any stamina I had before. In fact, my stamina is absolutely rubbish! My strength isn't too bad but with all the extra weight I don't feel as strong as I should be. My muscle strength also deteriorates very quickly when exercising. I…

C25k app won't connect to MFP
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I am using the Zenlabs C25k app for Android but when I click to share to MFP it just hangs. I have tried this numerous times and it just won't connect. Any ideas? I got this app specifically because it is supposed to connect with MFP. Thanks

Switching to Armour/Naturethroid from T4 only
Hi I have been on levothyroxine for about 7 years now. Before that I was on liothyronine and really well. Over the last few years I have felt worse and worse and, as the NHS won't now prescribe me liothyronine or natural thyroid, I am having to do this alone. I am still waiting for the tablets but have any of you noticed…

Strength training without the gym
Hi I am looking to do some strength training to build a little muscle. I can't afford a gym membership so I would have to do this at home. I don't have much space or equipment at the moment but I am prepared to buy some small equipment such a weights. I have just started the 100 pushups, 200 situps and 200 squats…

Hope for a UK thyroid patient?
Hi I have been looking through the topics in this group and have visited the websites recommended. I have previously heard of Dr. Skinner, the infamous doctor who actually listens his patients and treats them according to their illness rather than GMC guidelines. I had also heard that there was to be a hearing as the GMC…

Running with joint aches/pains
I have always loved running but I have periods of time where all my joints are sore (suspected RA). My doctor is happy for me to run but I find that after a few days of running my joints get a bit worse so I stop. I can run for 15 - 20 mins without walking but I was wondering about trying the C25k programme from the…

Running NSV!
I haven't run for about a week (possibly longer) due to the really hot weather we just had (29C some days!) and my joints have been stiff and painful and I've been feeling generally very tired. I went out today for a run thinking it was going to be really hard getting back into it. I was dreading it! I had got so I could…

Raw foods help
I was talking to an acquaintance today about raw foods. He was telling me how his wife, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer more than 2 years ago, is now in remission despite only being given 6 months to live. As soon as she was diagnosed she started a raw foods diet and has now been in remission for several months. What…

Jillian Michaels website
I went to the Jillian Michaels website and filled in all the info for my free plan. I received my email entitled "Here is your free fitness plan" or words to that effect but it was just some blurb about the website and nothing like a fitness plan. It also says my fitness plan has been saved so I can view it in the future…

Very overweight but I want to run. Should I wait?
I'm wondering if it is ok to start running again with a BMI of 33, or should I try to get it down a bit first. I used to run a lot when I was slim about 5 years ago. I am reasonably fit - I walk everywhere and I do karate twice a week. I have a good pair of running shoes suited to my feet and gait. Any advice would be very…

HELP!!!!
Hi. I was doing really well and enjoying it until I fell ill a few weeks ago. I had no appetite for anything and found myself eating sugary foods to keep me going. I also wasn't able to exercise and I normally exercise a lot! I am fully recovered now but I still feel very tired and find exercise difficult. It is also the…
