Help with feeding foreign students
If the title wasn't clear (hey, even I'm not that clear on what my current title is...), from Sunday, I will be hosting foreign students in my home for short periods of time while they go on courses and get a feel for England and practise their English speaking. We will be hosting mainly European teens (and some Japanese),…

I admit it, I have no idea what I'm doing...
I always thought low calories, working out would work, and it is to an extent, but very very slowly. I see people losing 30lbs in a matter of months, and I lost 30lbs in a year. Now it's been suggested I eat more calories, because on an average, I'm lucky if I make it to 1000 calories per day. I eat a lot of fresh fruit…

Body Fat % are well off... help?
When I first started trying to lose weight, I was 240lbs, 41% body fat, UK 22. I've lost more than 10% of my body weight since then, I'm now 214 lbs, a size 16/18 and my body fat percentage has stayed pretty much the same? I'm so confused by this... The ones that use all measurements, wrist, forearm, hip, neck, waist etc…

I am stuck
I have been stuck at the same weight, forever. I've tried increasing and decreasing my calorie in take. Switching work outs, from high intensity cardio, to pilates, running, weights, walking... I try to aim for about 45 mins per day, should I try for a longer duration? My eating has stayed same as ever, I've now hit 3…

Polar FT4 question
It's my birthday in less than a month now, and my other half is buying me my HRM watch, after about 8 months of me sending him hints and suggestions. I have a question about the chest strap. Is it one size fits all and adjustable? Or do they come in sizes and you need to specify upon buying? I'm obviously using it to help…

Sweating. Or not?
I do various work outs at home, such as Les Mills, Beachbody, and I've done classes at the gym. I always take my bottle of water with me and drink between tracks to keep me hydrated, and I try to drink as much as reasonably possible throughout the day. But when I work out, I don't get that 'wet look' everyone else has,…

Experienced runners, lend me your ears!!
My friends and I started running this week. We're not strangers to fitness, we did very high impact fitness classes for about 18 months before we started running, but this is a whole new kettle of fish. Before I started getting fit, I suffered with shin splints when I walked, and after about 6 months of fitness classes,…

Avocados!
I have heard from just about a million people that avocados are awesome. So I got some. Only wtf....? How do you know if they're ripe? How do you eat them? I just murdered half of one in an attempt to get the flesh, and it ended up all broken and going in the bin with very minimal flesh gained in the process.

Weird question
I feel a bit rotten this morning. I have a stomach ache, not a bug, just a general ache from the pills I'm taking from my Doc, and it's making me feel a little nauseous. However, I need to work out, but don't want to do the cardio routines that I usually do, which more often than not involves a lot of plyo/moving rapidly…

Coffee - whats the situation?
So I've recently started drinking coffee. Not the cruddy instant, but the fresh brick you keep in the fridge and make in a cafetiere. Basically I've struggled with energy levels in forever. Since having a child anyway, and he's 4 now, and waking up before 6am every day. Ouch. People said exercise would help, but it never…

Eggs and fish!? YUCK!
Since I was really small, I have always hated fish and eggs. This stems from my parents making me sit at the table to eat my fried eggs when they were cold for hours, and it really upset me, and finding skin on my fish as a kid. Now, I can't eat anything which is obviously eggy - omelette, scrambled, boiled, poached, even…

What to you struggle with most when it comes to food?
This could be buying, cooking, eating, anything. My personal issue at the moment is buying. I have a very small budget to feed three people on, and it really makes me feel ill that I can't always buy the best quality food. I know that Change 4 Life say that tinned or frozen vegetables, and tinned fruit is just as…

Weights question (noob at weights, please forgive me!)
So I've been at my gym for over a year now, and I've been using the, I wanna say weight machines, I have no idea what they're actually called. You sit on them, select the weight, and then do the exercise. Only, what do the numbers represent? I was given a very shoddy introduction, shown how to use the weights safely, and…

Whats the hate for Beachbody about?
I've seen a few posts now, people telling others to stop using Beach Body products such as P90X and Insanity. Whats the deal? I personally use Insanity and Turbofire, as well as the new Body Combat Ultimate Warrior on days I don't go to the gym to do... uh Body Combat haha. I've had some really good results with Turbofire…

Tired immediately after eating
I've got a busy gym session this morning. I do a double class on Wednesday mornings, the first is spin, step and abs, and the other is a high intensity aerobics class. In order to ensure that I have enough energy to see me through, I had two slices of whole meal toast with vegan spread, and a small bowl of muesli. But I…

Realistic goal help/ideas?
Before having my son, I was 150lbs (10stone 10lbs), and 3 years later, I'm making the scales whimper at 232lbs (16 stone 6lbs). I want to get back to my my pre baby weight, so I know that roughly my goal is more than 80lbs but that seems like a HUGE goal, and I don't want to get discouraged before I've even made a real…

Thighs!
Hiya Does anyone have some good tips for toning thighs and calves? I've always had what I call 'rugby' legs, with large calves which is annoying for a girl, but what annoys me more is than my thighs have got a little wobbly and I'd like to remedy that. Can anyone recommend me something? I am limited by a joint weakness, so…
