Opinions on best shoes
Looking for a great shoe for HIIT, high impact cardio (Les Mills Body Attack, Zumba, etc) and the like. If you have any opinions on a combo - a cross trainer that is also acceptable for running - that would be ideal. Right now, I have Asics and while I love them and they have proven to be OK for walking/light running, they…

Clean eating
For those of you who clean eat or eat minimally processed food: do you find that dairy sends your fat levels (particularly sat fats) soaring? I tend to buy full fat cheese, butter, half & half, etc because it's my understanding that my body processes it better. I, for one, very much enjoy full fat half & half in my…

At the risk of sounding stupid...
I am eating within my calories & macros (macros MOST of the time) and I am doing cardio for an hour (hitting my max heart rate) 4-5x week and strength training for about 45 minutes 2-3x week. The exercise I've been doing consistently since mid-April. The strength training I just started about 2 weeks ago (regularly). I'm…

Advice, please!
It has been almost a week since starting this method of eating. For the most part I think I am doing alright - albeit this weekend I was over calories & fat, but I didn't do my normal exercise routine. I workout M-F and rest the weekends. What worries me is: I have massive burns. Today, for example, I did an hour on the…

True or false?
I've been reading some things posted regarding how accurate HRM's actually are? Is this information valid? What is the point of an HRM if it's not going to give an accurate read? I have had mine for about a month & a half now and I love it! One question I do have is whether or not I should be using it when I am doing…

Friend or Foe?!
The dreaded SCALE. I go back & forth about weighing in weekly, daily or just once a month (even though I don't have that much willpower... I like to see progress, even if it's .2 lbs!) How often do you weigh yourself? Which do you find to be your best method of tracking your weight loss: scale, tape or body fat %? If you…

Giving this a shot!
Hello! New to this & I just wanted to give a brief intro... I started MFP back on March 19. I joined a gym and have been working out since April 16. Recently I started incorporating strength training... I feel GREAT but my calories were kind of all over the place, not to mention I was forgetting to eat things like…

Advice on strength training
Is there anything wrong with lifting daily? My trainer says at least 2x a week. However, I could get used to doing it 4-5x week. I am using the Hoist circuit system and really like it - although I have come to realize that I have incredible leg strength and ZERO upper body strength. My arms feel like jelly right now. I am…

Surprising frustration (Not involving the scale!)
So, the more research I do on fat burning, weight loss, etc. I am coming to the conclusion that MORE is not necessarily better. As in, doing more than an hour of cardio or weight training every day can actually do more harm than could. Combine that with trying to understand TDEE/BMR and I feel like I need a math degree…

I feel totally violated...
To anyone who does spinning? Ummm... particularly women - (guys, I don't even want to imagine)... how do you protect yourself? This is day #2 of only 20 minutes spinning and I am really REALLY sore. I can't imagine doing an hour long class! Any advice because I love the workout - just can't stand the pain!!

JUST BECAUSE
...it was the extra kick I needed in my workout today! 'Cause sometimes you just feel tired, Feel weak, and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up. But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength And just pull it out of you and get that motivation to not give up And not be a quitter,…

Has anyone used the Arc Trainer?
I just used it for the first time today & was surprised at how good my knees felt afterwards. My question if you've used it is, do you do so regularly and how are the benefits? Better or same as an elliptical? I'm looking for the best cardio activity to melt pounds but one that I find to be motivating also. The treadmill…

Recipes for kale? Opinions?
I saw a giant bag at BJ's yesterday for only $1.99, but I've never eaten it (that I know of) and didn't want it going to waste before getting some good recipes or feedback. Thanks in advance for any input! :)

How do you get yourself going?
I'm doing great with the food tracking - and the several times that I have exercised I feel awesome! My problem is getting myself to the point of just doing it. It's such a struggle to get it started, despite knowing the benefits plus seeing all the extra calories earned. I am having such a hard time just getting GOING.…

Curious to know...
To those who have tried and failed at losing weight: what makes this time different? What is keeping you focused? What makes this REAL for you? What is your ultimate goal and how will you know when you get there? For me, there have been so many times I have tried and failed I've lost count. I got tired of being tired. I…

Cheater?
I feel a *little* guilty because often times I don't log my one cup of coffee with 1/2 & 1/2 and sugar. I figure it's not loaded with calories and I usually have enough left over at the end of the day anyway. Today I discovered the So Delicious vanilla coconut creamer with no chemicals, preservatives, etc and a lot less…

Sugar and/or salt???
Which is worse? I'm pretty sensitive to salt and don't like a lot of it but I definitely have a sweet tooth. I've been noticing that my daily sodium intakes are staying well within my boundaries so I switched the macros to keep track of my sugar intake. I've been significantly over (25-50 g) the last two days & I haven't…

How do you know you spend too much time on FB?
You're constantly looking for the "like" button to click for other people's comments. *sigh* This site is EQUALLY as addictive. Hopefully it benefits me more than the FB or Pinterest time suck.

Hope someone can help...
This is my first week doing this after a looooong hiatus... (hey, it happens to the best of us, right?!) So my question is: in tracking my food - is it OK if I'm going over things like fiber and protein? I figure as long as my fat, carbs and sugar stay in check - protein and fiber are good things. But seeing those red…

Anyone from the Rochester, NY area?
Anyone? *crickets*... just wondering as I will be moving there probably in the next 6 months or so.
-
Anyone?
Anyone from Watertown, NY or the "North Country" of upstate New York? New to MFP and this area of the country and looking to meet SAHM's in their 30's also on this site. I'm curious but not holding my breath, it's a pretty small town.

Need some insight...
I'm having some trouble. As a devoted WW member for so long, I fell into the routine of having my "points" and never really having to base my eating on a calorie countdown. That sounds ridiculous, I know -- I can count points, but have trouble with calories. WTF?! In any case, since the beginning of August I have been…

Kettlebells
Anyone work with them? What are your thoughts? I just read a great article about a "countdown workout" that uses a kettlebell and squat thrusts and that's the whole workout. I'm definitely intrigued.

Is this a bad thing?
Going over things like your daily vitamins, your fiber or protein? I can understand the point in staying under the daily intakes of sugar, carbs, fat, sodium but I never thought of the other things. Protein keeps me satiated... same with fiber. Am I just not getting it?

Almond milk, coconut milk, etc
I LOVE almonds and have been very interested to try the Almond milk. Do you guys drink it like you would regular milk or do you find yourself substituting it in recipes and such? Anyone use it as creamer in coffee? My same questions apply to the coconut milk... and are the health benefits the same?

Questions about Truvia
Has anyone tried Truvia in the Raw? I am really skeptical about using sweeteners other than actual sugar. However, I keep seeing lots of things advertising Truvia and I'm intrigued. I wasn't a fan of Splenda at all. I am very sensitive to tastes and that tasted like sweetener to me.

Help or advice please!
I have been doing my treadmill for an hour 3 days a week and Billy Blanks Boot Camp Tae Bo on the 2 alternating days. When I do my treadmill, I get my calorie count from that but when I go to input the Tae Bo, for 55 min it comes up 917 calories. While I know I work hard and I have a full body sweat going on (and heart…

Rest days
I told myself when August started, my goal is to do 60 min of cardio every day. So far, so good -- even though it's only Day 3, but I digress -- my question is: should take a day or 2 as rest days during the week? On one hand, I'm interested to see the results of working out every day for 31 days straight. But my big fear…
