Has anyone used the Arc Trainer?

I just used it for the first time today & was surprised at how good my knees felt afterwards. My question if you've used it is, do you do so regularly and how are the benefits? Better or same as an elliptical? I'm looking for the best cardio activity to melt pounds but one that I find to be motivating also. The treadmill just wasn't cutting it.
Thanks in advance for any input!

I have tried it and I certainly feel it much more in my legs. I don't get any soreness at all from the elliptical in the legs. Apparently the ARC uses different muscles. I like it because it gets my heart rate up in a way the elliptical doesn't any more.0

I think it's much better than the elliptical, since the lower profile forces you engage your core and shoulders a good deal more.
You'll also notice a pronounced increase in your fitness level after using it for a few weeks. It will become tougher to get your heart rate up, and you'll want to use more of the functions offered like intervals of incline/resistance to maximize calorie burn.
Like most cardio machines, it overestimates how much you burn, so shave off 20-30% at each session.
I'm a big fan.0 -
I LOVE the Arc Trainer! I had a trainer once (a long time ago!) and he told me that the Arc Trainer was the best cardio machine in the gym!0

Anna, I get what you're saying about the calories - the machine today said I burned 360 but my HRM said 320 so I went with that. The great thing was I got my heart rate average at 160 with a max at 170. I really enjoyed it and I was sweating like it was my JOB. Felt really good. I figure if I add 30-45 min of that 5 days/week on top of my cardio & strength training classes I'm doing, I should be well on my way!0
