I have been doing my treadmill for an hour 3 days a week and Billy Blanks Boot Camp Tae Bo on the 2 alternating days. When I do my treadmill, I get my calorie count from that but when I go to input the Tae Bo, for 55 min it comes up 917 calories. While I know I work hard and I have a full body sweat going on (and heart rate is up) -- I don't think there is any way I'm burning 917 calories so I don't want to put that in. When I try something like "Aerobic, general" for 55 min it still gives me 588 calories. I think it's safe to say I burn about 500 or so because that's generally what I do on my treadmill, but I don't know. I don't want to overestimate but I don't want to underestimate myself either. I'm currently researching HRM's but haven't purchased one yet. Any suggestions in the meantime?

A typical burn, dependent on your statistics of course, ranges from 5-10 cals per minute.

917 is definitely overestimating, by far.
If you're really stuck, just go 55 minutes 550 calories
which is saying you're roughly burning 100 calories every 10 minutes.
If you feel you were going less than that, drop it to 450-500.
    917 is definitely too steep.
