Just started Phase 2
I started phase 2 today. It is DEFINITELY harder than phase 1. No advanced modifications for me on this one! I could do most of the advanced stuff for phase 1, and I was using 10, 12, and 15 lb weights. I barely got through the regular version of workout 5, and mostly I used the 5 lb weights! Oh well, I was getting too big…

Antihistamines and weight loss
I've just read some disturbing things about how antihistamines can inhibit weight loss or even cause weight gain. I have to take either Benadryl or Zyrtec often because of nasal allergies. This is also a professional issue since I am a musician and the nasal allergies cause laryngitis. So there are times I absolutely have…

4 year anniversary/success story
Four years ago this week I squeezed into my largest jeans. (I think they were a size 16) I managed to get them on, but I could barely sit in them. I felt miserable. I knew then that something had to change. I joined MFP, changed my lifestyle and diet, and lost 25% of my body weight. I learned to enjoy exercise, and to love…

Who has tried JM Body Revolution?
I am thinking of putting Jillian michaels Body Revolution at the top of my Christmas list. I have done her 30 Day shred, ripped in 30 , extreme shed and shred, yoga meltdown, six week six pack and a couple of her others. I have especially lived the "shred" type series. I found them to be very do able and effective. I am…

Can you trust hunger to eat the right amount?
I have been a calorie counter now for four years, and it works for me! But recently I have been thinking. . . . During the last 2 weeks I have been sick with an upper respiratory virus, and I have not exercised for those two weeks. That is the longest by far that I have gone without exercising since starting on here 4…

Anyone else struggling to balance life and fitness?
I love my "new" (not really new since I have been at this for 4 years now, but new as far as percentage of my life span!) lifestyle of fitness. I actually enjoy working out most of the time for the first time in my (46 years) life. But the problem I have is that fitness is now the only hobby I have time for, outside of…

Weigh foods before or after cooking??
When figuring nutrition content of meats, do you weigh them before cooking or after?

NSV: I am stronger than I look!
While grocery shopping today I picked up a large box of cat litter (34 lbs.). It was heavy, but not too heavy to lift. I lifted it up and over the side of the cart and set it down inside. Later, at the checkout, I again lifted it up and over the cart to put it on the conveyer belt. Here is the conversation with the checker…

Looking for healthy veggie side dishes
I am currently trying hard to eat cleaner and keep my carbs and proteins in balance (nothing drastic, just keeping carbs below 45-50%). I am trying to eat more "meat and veggie"" meals, rather than pasta dishes or casseroles with rice, etc. But my whole family is getting tired of the same old vegetables. I usually have…

Careful--"Eat More" is a relative term
Just wanted to put my two-cents` worth in. Mine is not a post based on science. I am not a nutritionist, physical therapist, doctor, or even a personal trainer. But I am pretty decent at math, and I have been tracking my calories and exercise on MFP for almost 4 years. And for the past 2 years I have been paying very close…

Strength training schedule question
In an ongoing attempt to be more consistent with my strength training, I am wondering about changing my not very consistent schedule. Let me explain. I do not especiallly like strength training, but I know it is important, and the more I read, the more the evidence convinces me. I wont even go into the reasons, because…

The Witching Hour!
For me it is between 3:30 and 4:30, when I get in from school (I am a teacher). At that point in the day I am ravenous, and would eat shoe leather. I have to have a snack since we eat dinner at about 7:30 or later. But then I cant stop! When is your "witching hour" and how do you cope?

Just joined the group--you guys made me laugh AND cry
Hi I just joined the group, since I am thinking I may be right in the middle of this (age 45)! I read a few posts, and I had to laugh, just hearing about everyones struggles! And then I wanted to cry, because these are my problems too! Im looking forward to sharing struggles and getting some answers from all of you!

Is BodyMedia Fit working for the small gals?
I read so many posts about the BMF helping folks loose, and the numbers are impressive: "I lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks. . ." etc. Of course, just reading those posts we have no way of knowing how much that person had to lose to start with, how large they were when they started, etc. My BMF is not helping me lose. The numbers…

Question for the number crunchers
I recently reviewed my fitness records for the past year. I gained 5 lbs. (from 119-124) In that same time period my bodyfat scale registered a change of +1.2%. So, since I gained 4.2% total body weight, but only increased fat by 1.2%, does that mean I gained lean body mass? And how much? I probably could figure this one…

BodyMedia 90% accurate?? Maybe not. . .
I`ve had my BodyMedia for almost three months. I got it mostly to find out what my maintenance really is, and then to relose the 5-10 lbs that I put back on when I tried to go to maintenance. So here is what I`m finding. My BMF puts my average daily burn at around 2400 cals. I work out most days, but sometimes miss, so…

I want to eat more GOOD foods--need ideas/help
Okay, I think that eating more is FINALLY working (slowly) for me. It has taken 10 months to get things back on track! So here is my issue--When eating at a low calorie goal, I naturally made healthy choices most of the time, since that is the only way to keep calories low. Now I'm eating more, and probably will go up even…

Is body media working for you?
I've just joined the group since I will be getting body media link soon and I need feedback. Is this working for you for maintenance or small loss? I need to lose about 5 lbs I have gained while trying to maintain and I want to then maintain again. I'm hoping this will help.

For those who reset, and then lost weight after?
I've been reading about resets and thinking I may need to do one. But it is scary to read about weight gains of 10 and more pounds. So here is my question: For all you folks who reset and gained, are there any of you who then lost the weight? And especially, who lst the weight without having to drop calories ridiculously…

Linking MFP and Bodymedia NEED HELP!
I just got my Bodymedia link this weekend and I am loving all the information. I'm still a little scared to trust it, but I'm ready to take the leap of faith! It seems that I've been slightly overestimating my workout burns, but vastly underestimating my everyday movement burn. Today just my regular stuff at work and home…

LBM frustration
Okay, let me say right up front that I believe building muscle through strength training is very important. I try to make it a priority even though it is not something I enjoy. But I know it is important because I DO NOT want to be a frail little old woman who can barely get around. I know that if I don't work now, I will…

Have the "rules" changed?? What am I doing wrong?
So, I have been doing MFP for two years now. I finished losing about a year ago and have been maintaining ever since. About 3 months ago, I noticed my weight creeping up a bit. It is only about 3-5 pounds, but it has been consistently up for the past 3 months. I am staying within my calorie goals, and I continue to log my…

Maintenance question for the fitness experts
I've been wondering. . . . If I set my calories for maintenance and continue exercising (some strength, some cardio) regularly and logging this exercise, and stay within my calorie limits (eating back most of my exercise calories), will I eventually, over time, replace some of my body fat with lean muscle?
