Back again
Hi I’m back after 4 or 5 years away. There are sooo many changes to the platform. For instance-I used to have a news feed where my “pals” posted concerns, progress, etc. That seems to be gone. Am I just not looking in the right place? It was a nice feature that helped with support. Anyone know where it is now?

Anyone else using Dumbbells only?
Hi, New to the group here, but not new to MFP. I've been here for six years now! Initially lost over 40 lbs, but I've gained back 20. I'm still relatively small at 5'3" and 134 lbs. I am at a healthy bmi. But I am more comfortable around 120-125. Initially I lost the "right" way--slowly and not doing anything crazy, but…

Question about weighted vest
I've been lifting at home with dumbells for quite awhile, and I've been consistent and progressive enough over the last 3-4 months that my squats are outpacing the strength of my arms. I need to add more weight than I can handle with dumbells. I've experimented with using a backpack with added weight. Would a weighted vest…

Posts disappearing from my wall
Is anyone else having an issue with posts disappearing from your wall? Twice this week I have posted a status report, only to find it disappears within an hour or so. Anyone else?

Vitamin D deficiency causes weight problems? Who knows anything about this?
I am 47 and definitely perimenopausal. It ve been struggling with losing about 5-10 lbs to get to what I consider my ideal weight. . . . I had my yearly last week, and I asked my ob/GYN to do a thyroid test because of the difficulty I have had with trying to lose, and even manage, my weight. She agreed, and then said,…

Estroven
Has anyone here tried Estroven? Ingredients say soy isoflavenes and black cohosh. What about Estroven Weight Management formula? It has the soy and cohosh plus something to regulate serotonin which supposedly regulates hunger. I thought I might try it after I finish my bottle of black cohosh. The cohosh has definitely…

Sodium and peri menopause
Does anyone else feel that they are more sodium sensitive now that the hormones are raging daily?? It used to not bother me, but now even just going slightly higher in sodium I see the weight increase immediately, and I feel the puffiness in my hands and feet! And it takes FOREVER to go away.

Black cohosh
i just picked up some black cohosh capsules over the weekend and started taking them. I seem to notice feeling better in several ways (no hot flashes, sleeping well, libido increase slightly, a bit more energy). Now this may all be placebo effect, but we will see. Has anyone had a problem with weight gain while taking…

Happy 2000 anniversary! Can anyone top that?
I just celebrated 2000 consecutive days logging. Can anyone top that??

How many calories do YOU eat to maintain around 130 lbs?
I'm not asking what the CALCULAOTRS say you should eat to maintain. I'm talking real life results here. Let me be specific-- If you are a middle aged (45-55) female, weigh in the low 130's with a bodyfat of 25-30% how many calories do you eat to maintain your weight? Please include information about your exercise routine…

47 yo female: expectations and frustrations
I think I am the "old lady of MFP! I started here 5 years ago and have missed very few days since. Currently, my logging streak is 1689 days! So I am certainly not a newbie! I have been fairly successful overall. Initially I lost over 40 lbs, but I have re-gained around 15. I am still in a healthy BMI range but would like…

Two weeks. . . .
TOM has been here for TWO WEEKS this time! Ugh!!!

Shopping for a new scale
Im looking to replace my scale, which is doing strange things. I would like it to be reliable, reasonable (under $200) and fairly simple to use. I also want as reliable bodyfat measurement as you can get with one of these things. Sports authority has an omron scale that includes a handheld electrical impedence unit as well…

How many calories do you need to maintain?
I am feeling sorry for myself tonight. I've been working hard, and seeing results (finally, after a three year plateau/gain cycle!). I should be feeling great! But I've realized that when I get to my goal, I'm still not going to be able to eat much! Welcome to my pity party! So, what will all of you smaller people need to…

Pulled the muscle behind the knee. . . .what caused this?
I seem to have pulled the muscle behind my knee. It is kind of like a dull ache. I'm not sure whether this is from adding some time to my running (I thought I was building gradually enough), lifting (maybe deadlifts? Or sometimes I get some knee pain with squats or lunges. I have to be careful as lifting seems to cause…

Soy. . . . . Good or bad?
On the Internet, it seems you can find information to support any opinion you might have! I have read that consuming more soy is good for menopause symptoms. But then I also read that women should not eat soy products. So, does anyone have any personal experience or knowledge on this?

Are they even making bodymedias anymore?
I've had my Bodymedia for about 18 months now. On the whole, I have been disappointed. After tracking carefully and comparing results to what Bodymedia predicts, I have discovered that for me, the device is only about 69% accurate. Most days, it says I burn around 2400 cals a day. Bit my real life results support a TDEE of…

Period and then a mini period?
The last few months, I've had my period, and then about a week later I have like a little mini period--more than spotting, but not like my full period (which has become very heavy in the past year or so). Is this a common peri thing??

Clothing fitting issue
Okay,a little background first. I am 47 yo, short (5'2.5") female with a healthy body weight (131 lbs) and body fat (around 25% as best I can tell). No, I don't have that perfect dream body yet, but overall I'm not unhappy with my body. I feel like I look pretty good. I would love to lose those last 5-10 lbs and get rid of…

Five years later
This weekend marks five years on MFP! I am happy to say I am still maintaining a healthy BMI (although I have gained some of my initial loss back), and I am in the best shape of my life. Yes there are ups and downs, but I plan on staying healthy for the long haul! (At least as it pertains to fitness and healthy weight!)

My BMF is 800+ calories off!
I've suspected from the first that my BMF is reporting burns that are hundreds too high (it says I burn 2500 most days. I am female, 130 lbs, 47 yo, small framed, short, and at best lightly active most days). I have to show a deficit of at least 1000 calories a day to lose even a fraction of a pound per week. I gain whe I…

Nature vs nurture and set points?
I posted this comment in the main forums, and one of my "pals" who is also a member of this group, suggested posting here for a more "educated and informed" response. So here it is. . . I'm just wondering what everyone thinks--do our bodies have an easily maintained "set point"? (Which can easily be maintained by eating…

Body types and set points and weight. . . . Oh my!
I'm just wondering what everyone thinks--do our bodies have an easily maintained "set point"? (Which can easily be maintained by eating intuitively based on our appetite?) And can it be changed? And How does body type figure into that? Here is where I am coming from. I have been visiting my sister, who looks in many ways…

How do you know if you're gaining muscle and not fat??
Okay, I have been maintaining my 40+ pound loss for almost a year now with very good success (staying within 3 lbs of lowest weight). I'm continuing to exercise (especially cardio, which I like best), and I stay within a net calorie goal that has worked for 11 months now. Until. . . Just last week I've gained about 5…

For the ladies--best hair removal technique
I wasn't sure which topic to put this under. Maybe it should be in chit-chat, but that is so full of "would you hit on the person above" threads that it makes me ill, so I thought I would try here, as this is a serious question for me. So, I have achieved my bikini body and I have bought three (!!) beautiful bikinis to…

I'm officially ditching the Bodymedia!
Okay, so today I disconnected MFP from my Bodymedia. I have worn it now for just short of a year, and my weight is up 8 lbs. I have consistently eaten under the calorie burns it gives me. In fact, I have not gone over a single time, and usually I have a deficit of at least 300. And that is after I reduced my height in my…

Phase 3:Body Revolution
I started phase three this week. The workouts are really really intense. I actually took a rest day mid week because I was just feeling washed out and exhausted. During phase 1 I did the advanced modifications. For phase 2 I did the standard exercises. This week I have done the beginner modifications! I am really going to…

Does whey protein powder give you gas?
I had a shake made with protein powder and almond milk. Ever since I feel like I've been inflated like a balloon, and, well, the rest would be TMI! So could it be the whey protein? I don't usually have a whole serving of powder, just a little mixed in different foods. What is your experience?

Waist measurement went up??
Okay, I need some insight here. I have been doing Body Revolution now for 2 months. I just started phase 3, the final month. During the first month I gained a couple of pounds. Not too surprising since the increase in strength training made me really hungry and I ate around maintenance for most of the month. The second…

Almost halfway there!
I just realized that at the end of this week I will be halfway through the program! Wow going by fast! I still have not lost any weight, but my upper abs are more defined and the middle abs are peeking through. How are the rest of you doing?
