Gym this morning at 5:30 am. The best part was the drive in. It was 72F (22C) - the lowest temperature since the first week of June! This afternoon topped out at 103F (40C) but that cooler air sure felt good. Maybe another month of 💯 and the nice days will return?

I start physical therapy after my trip to Hawaii. I’m not too hopeful about any improvements but I’ll give it a try.

Do give it a try! Is it a cruise there? Do you fly from Texas to there?

I will try the physical therapy- mainly in hopes of improving/maintaining mobility.

Yes, the trip to Hawaii is a cruise. We did it eight years ago. This time son is coming along. We fly from Austin to San Francisco. Then to Honolulu. Same route on return trip. It looks like we may be stopping in Maui after all but staying away from the disaster area.

Was proud of myself today…tackled the walking trail at Signal Hill in at Johns (in Birkenstocks!) and made it. Needed to stop to catch my breath on the way up those stairs but still pretty pleased!!

With my 3 favourite boys ❤️

No way you make it up there on Birkenstocks. This is like illegal to do that to your feet, isn't it? Shouldn't you be wearing sneakers or something? I would like to put forward a complaint about how these boys are not taking good enough care of you here! However, that looks like an awesome time and climb!

Was wonderful! Boys were brilliant 🙂 Son Number Two held my hand through the treacherous spots - vision in lefty still a bit spotty making depth perception a challenge.

Son Number One wanted to turn back five minutes in - at the top of the never-ending stairs - because of my sandals and “slow walking” (plantar fasciitis still hanging in 😖) and The Boy’s seven-year-old tendency to be a bit reckless - but he put on a happy face and carried on 😊

That feeling of victory at the finish was so inspiring - I was so pleased with my body and want nothing more than to help it get strong and as fit as can be ❤️💪🏼🦵🫀🥦🥬🫘🥜🏋️‍♂️

Laurie - what an adventure! You conquered that climb. Just another couple of steep hills ahead of you in a few weeks. 🧗‍♀️⛰

Went for the reduced airfare that includes nothing but a personal bag. Not even carry on. Most of that space was used up by stuff for the boy (including a pair of sneakers😁). I’m getting the hang of this travelling technique. Board the plane wearing multiple layers. Shed them as necessary. Only one pair of shoes. Rely on Newfoundland (Son) for bulky warm sweater/hoodies if necessary.

These sandals have done very very well!

Wear the sneakers on the plane. Sandals fold up pretty well.
Have you considered leaving some sneakers and a hoodie or two at son’s house? I have a heavy coat and boots in my sister’s closet in Ohio. They’re old but do the job as needed.

I have sandals or hiking boots…my feet got used to the Birkenstocks while I was “forced slow walking” now the boots seem to trigger plantar fasciitis within a half an hour walk. So I brought the better choice of the two with me. I’ve had no problems on any of these trails!

My son has about 30 hoodies… he has me well covered if necessary. Very lucky 🙂

I was going to mention that (the looking good part especially now that I can see YOU in the one picture!!) AND... if you want to keep traveling "light" yes, definitely leave some clothes there... and increase the size of your personal item to the max--aren't laptop bags and "laptop" BACKPACKS considered personal items? Imagine a 16" or 17" laptop backpack equivalent without any of the cushioning foam or laptop....

I am totally chuckling over here.

Let's just say that I am imagining Alexandra's super wide dresses/skirts hiding a collection of shoes and clothing that COULD go on a plane as "layers" of a person under their skirt!!!! Might be a bit uncomfortable seating (and before that through security)... but free luggage, especially for a short flight!!!!!

Yes a laptop bag is what is included but that’s all that is included… once you include a whole pile of markers and a pair of children’s sneakers… not a lot of extra room 😁

You are all big very nice and that is a pretty flattering picture but there’s way too much of me to be heaving up stairs on a regular basis! This picture was good for my soul though because it let me not hating myself!

There is nothing better than actually liking photos of yourself! You look lovely and happy.

I spent years just loathing seeing pictures of myself. In my head, I was NOT that person in the photo. But there it was -REALITY.

Now the person in my head and the person in the photo are close to being the same. Of course, losing a bunch of wrinkles would make it all better.

Drug myself to the gym today. I didn't want to but I knew I needed to. I was prepared to do my full workout. I did my water aerobics class. It was harder than usually but I went through it. Then I got dressed and ready for class 2. I waited for 30 minutes only to realize that Tuesday and Thursday 11:00 class is yoga not Fitness. I cannot do yoga without hurting myself so I got dressed for the day and went to work. Blah. Try again tomorrow.

Note to self.... before going to doctor check on day  (because it is part of the "is your brain addled assessment to ask you the SUPER tricky question: "what's the date today and which day of the week is it ?!"

Hey that's true even before you retire. Trust me i wasn't cracking a joke!

I had to invoke emergency support associations and stealthily count using my toes in order to avoid failing to answer correctly...

.... dog prescription is getting picked up tomorrow and it takes three days to compound and dog went to vet on Monday so it must be Wednesday.... Phew, it's Wednesday! 🫣😳🤣

    Wednesday!

I’ve been caught in the same place for the past 20 years because there’s been that much of a difference between weekdays or the weekend! Self-employed at home means working whenever! Or more recently not working whenever 😁

Taking a two week break from the gym. I’m hoping all the walking on my vacation will make up the calorie difference. But there’s all the cruise food to contend with......
