Went and saw my endocrinologist this morning. He thinks that I have a Hashimoto's Throiditis. (never heard of it)... He took a special blood test for thyroid, and as soon as I get the results, he will be able to tell me more about what they will be doing. Hope he gets those results back soon. In the meantime, I will be keeping myself busy exercising, cleaning etc. etc. I don't want to worry until I have to. ...So far this week I have managed to gain .2 lbs, I am wanting to stay the same this week, we will see.0

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Sometimes, the solution is a daily pill for your throid and you will be feeling much better. Try not to worry. Hashimoto's is very treatable whatever treatment is chosen.0

Thanks Marney, If a pill a day is all I will need that would be great! Hope I get results tomorrow, would hate to have to go through the weekend not knowing.

Welcome back, Mary, and look at your loss! Woo-hoo!
Lill: Good insight as to your reaction to carbs without a protein balance.
Beth: I have two friends with Hashimoto's. Marney is right. It is very treatable, although long-term treatment. The medication could help you lose weight as an under-active thyroid which usually accompanies Hashimoto's can make you gain weight and contribute to fatigue. If they need to start you on hormones, synthroid probably, you might see weight loss quickly and almost immediately. Hashimoto's is an auto-immune disease which tends to mean you and family members are prone to them. I know it seems counter-intuitive to say this, but I try to keep my immune system suppressed because of my auto-immunes. I used to take CoQ-10 and zinc and don't any longer as they tend to strengthen your immune system. I figure if my auto-immune system wants to attack my body, I'm not going to help it!
Beth: .2 pounds is not a gain. It is a little extra water. Heck, you can sit and drink that .2 pounds!
As for me this week, nothing new to report! Still doing 16:8. Still holding steady rather than losing. But, my clothes still fit. I feel great! And it will come if it is meant to.0 -

(sarcasm) Well I will see how things go...keep your fingers crossed.

Hi Guys, hope you are doing well! I have the flu or at least flu-like symptoms. Weighing in on Saturday.0

Beth: Autoimmune diseases tend to run in families and when YOU have one, you tend to be prone to get others. There are some strange links, too, that don't make sense sometimes (i.e., my daughter had Graves disease and usually a close relative will have dyslexia, which my son does! Strange relationship there). Hemochromatosis is not considered autoimmune, I don't think, but after you mentioned it, I found this. I think it is interesting given your diagnosis! ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18299688
Marney: Love the 1.5 loss!

keeping steady.. 9/25 130.2
Last weekend was a Korean Festival at the Delaware Art Museum. Our school went as a group. I was glad to meet the chef of the local Korean restaurant that provided lunch items. He assured me that he doesn't use MSG (makes me feel like nails in my head) and was concerned that I was told differently when I called the restaurant months ago. Maybe the person I spoke with didn't understand my question? Anyway, now I can't wait to go - lunch was great! ... I may have mentioned that I would enjoy working in the kitchen.. I can make hobbang (red bean stuffed buns)..0 -

Gayle, sorry to hear you not feeling well, hope its not the flu.. Get better and take care.0 -
@MapDancer How great! Love the Korean cuisine. Not Korean, but Pei Wei now offers any of their entrées as lettuce wraps. I've tried them now as Mongolian Beef and Orange Peel Shrimp. So much better than with rice and way less calories. (I think I hear dinner calling for tonight!). I can tolerate a little MSG, but it is not good for us. I will get a flush though if too much. I have never had hobbang, but have seen them on documentaries and webcasts on Korean food.
We have an annual Asian festival every May, but it is all nationalities. it is a wonderful eating extravaganza! I took part in the Tai Chi demo this past year. As I said, we do have several Korean restaurants though. I love them, but I always worry about the number of calories.
You are doing so good on maintenance. So steady!
What are you watching right now? I'm only watching Twenty Again - two hour long episodes a week. Really like it. (Of course, Big Bang Theory is now back on for the season so I will watch it). So that is five 30-minute rides on the stationary bike. Was surprised that Late Night Restaurant didn't ever explain the owner and the scar. Wonder if there might be a 2nd Season. Rare, but it has happened before.0 -

Still trending the right direction. Think this next week I will be feeling well enough to get back to walking a bit. That makes all the difference, of course.0 -

Charlie: We finished "Sang Doo, Let's Go To School". It was Rain's debut drama and he was amazing. If you haven't seen it I won't say more. We also finished The Scholar Who Walks the Night. Then I finished Falling in Love with Soon Jung. Wow you could really dislike the evil second lead in that one! We're still nibbling away at Midnight Restaurant - it has such a nice pacing to it. Now I'm casting about for a new exercise drama (Baker Kim? The Girl Who Sees Smells/Sensory Couple??) and another that we can watch together (Gaksital got great reviews).
But tomorrow we will be watching the two new episodes of Dr. Who. DH came home from the P.O. the other day and said he can't go back till then - the P.O. lady wants to talk about Dr. Who but knows we haven't see it yet!
I'm reviewing recipes tonight to try making Tteokguk (rice cake soup) tomorrow. I've never heard of 'soup soy sauce' I think I'll need to go to the Korean market.0 -
Pam! I am a giant Dr. Who fan and am so excited that I get to watch two new episodes tonight as well! Happy Dance!0
-
Gayle: I hope you enjoyed the new season episodes! So who was your first Dr.? Friends introduced me during Tom Baker. A few Drs after him weren't so great... but when it started again with Christopher Eccleston -wow! we haven't missed any.0
-
I've been watching since the 60's but the first doctor to really grab me was, like you, Tom Baker. He was so wild and funny looking and love that scarf and K9. The early "special effects" were really a hoot! Loved the 10th and 11th doctors and their companions, especially Amy and Rory. I'm not so nuts about Christopher Eccleston. I liked Clara with Matt Smith but not so much with C. E. Still good fun though.0
-
Pam: I really liked "The Time that I Loved You." Best male lead in a long time although plot was a little slow. Leads were worth it.
I agree that it was easy to hate the second lead in Falling in Love with Soon Jung!
Also, if you want something different and like Gong Hyo Jin (Pasta and Sang Doo, Let's Go to School) try "It's Okay, That's Love." Got great reviews, too, and I don't want to spoil it, but it is different! Your husband might like it. Different, but very good.
I am enjoying "Twenty Again" as it is laugh out loud funny in parts; but as I said, Choi Ji Woo is my favorite Korean actress. They have just completed episode 10 of 16. Two episodes a week. Also refreshing because Choi Ji Woo is a little more mature than the "high school" dramas.
It has been a couple years since I watched Baker Kim (it was okay as I remember). I have started Sang Doo, Let's Go to School since you mentioned it as you know I love Rain and with Gong Hyo Jin, it is a bonus. I needed another drama as I need to crochet a halloween costume for my granddaughter and need something to watch while I do.
I have never watched Dr. Who. My daughter does and loves it. Just don't need to get hooked on anything so "long term."0 -
Leaving town tomorrow, kayaking and hiking for a few days.
Hopefully will kick me off the edge of the plateau.
Wont be able to log in every day, so i will be starting over on the 100.
Have a good week all!0 -

Gayle: I wasn't too sure about the new Dr but DH has always liked him since the movie Local Hero. I've adjusted and think he's doing a fine job. I just read that Steven Moffat has even considered bringing back K9. Somewhere in our house is a signed photo of Tom Baker that DH sister got for him. hmm... need to look for it!
Charlie: Okay I've bumped up "It's Okay, That's Love" to our next drama. We just finished episode 5 of the Girl who can see smells. Let me know when you finish Sang Doo. Rain is wonderful - hard to believe that this was his debut.
Do you ever see the dramabeans posts? This is a amusing list of the extremes that kdrama fans take. Makes me feel almost normal!
dramabeans.com/2015/09/spill-the-beans-bombed-tests-and-threats-at-knifepoint/
Since March 2014 I've seen 70 kdramas and 10 kmovies. Arghh... I should be fluent by now.0 -

Gayle, how are you feeling? Hope all is ok, I am still waiting on more test results for the thyroid. Hope to hear by Monday.
Everyone have a great fall weekend, beautiful out today, ( a little cool) but a good day for a walk in the park with the dog.
