Beeps-I lose weight like a candle. Face first, arms, breasts, stomach. I'm at the lower stomach right now, still waiting for my butt & legs to do something. Manic-I hate those reverse lunges too.0

dandelion - hope you feel better soon.!!
Beeps - totally awesome NSV to have someone else notice your hard work!!
I finished Stage 3 today - you can see my results in the Stage 3 thread. We are leaving for vacation today to Glacier National Forest for a week. Should be doing lots of hiking and such so should get some good cardio in on my rest week.0 -
I was going to redo stage 2 1A today, but then I remember we do this stinking stage again, essentially, so I'll just... push through. Congratulations on Stage 3, Jennie! I'm off to go see yo' results!
It really is weird how different everyone gains and loses. I expect my face fat and my *kitten* fat to go first, leaving me looking quite bulbus and belly-ful.0 -
Hi all!
Today is the day I had circled on my calendar 4 weeks ago...this is my TOTAL INDULGENCE DAY!
No working out. I can eat WHATEVER I want - however much I want, too! And, I'm going to drink copious amounts of alcohol! (I've been dry for a month, with one exception of 1 other night where I had 1 drink!) It's a girl's night out. Patio. Sunshine. I'm calling into work sick for this afternoon....
As a further PROMISE to myself, I shall NOT step on the scale until NEXT Friday, so that I can clean-up after myself. I'm really looking forward to today. I hope you are too!

Enjoy your day Beeps!
Not sure if I'm getting to the gm today. I may be too busy wrangling the kids, walking back and forth to the park and cleaning my very gross house that I've ignored for 2 weeks. Maybe I'll get enough exercise for today LOL.0 -
Yay Beeps, that sounds like fun! Enjoy
Have a great rest week Ellie and an awesome vacay Jen!
I'm on kid/house duty today, too, Sam. Feeling a little stir-crazy. But it's too hot to enjoy being outside today. So might as well.0 -
Just checking in and saying hi! I just started NROLW yesterday Stage 1, A Workout 1. Loved the feeling after though I am sore today. It's good sore though! All of you who are working through this are such an inspiration! I am also working through C25K. Now to go back and read through the boards for tips and answers to questions (before I post redundant ones .0

Hi everyone, I'm in the middle of Stage 7 (skipped 6), and am wondering what you all have done/will do when you finish. I'm going to (try to) do 12 workouts in stage 7, and today I finished #5. I really liked the program, and think I am stronger and more fit than I've been in my life (51 years old and three kids). I have to say, that stage 7 is HARD for me (as in gasping for breath hard!)
I was thinking of trying their new book, anyone checked it out?0 -

I am interested in this too - although I am no where near the end0 -

I did not know there was a new book out. I'll have to look at it.
I am curious, if you don't mind, will you answer a few questions since you are almost finished. Please.
1. Have you lost weight?
2. Has your body changed?
3. You said you liked the program but would you recommend it to anyone who wants to change their shape?

In response to those who asked if I had seen a change in my body, OMG, yes! Not only am I stronger, but I look better than I have in a really long time (my husband of 25 years says "best ever"). I've lost 45 pounds and I look and feel "fit". For me it was not only about losing weight, but also about becoming stronger and healthier.
As far as "changing your shape", I'm not really sure what that means. When I gain weight, it goes to my butt and my stomach, so my shape has changed dramatically from the combination of eating less and working out more, but i see a difference everywhere (legs, arms, chest).0 -
MeRoBi, that's a fantastic result.
After NR, I'm thinking of their other book- new rules for abs (as that's my problem area), or maybe stronglifts 5x5. Probably the latter as i'm ready for a shorter concentrated workout after all these long sessions!
I'm halfway thru stage 5, actually looking forward to stage 6- can i ask why you skipped it?0 -
<--- this was not fun but nobody got hurt so it's all good. Check your tires ladies.
I skipped the gym last night and woke up very tired and sore today so I'm taking a rest day. A full week of mega cleaning AND the gym was more than my body could handle. Starting my new Summer workout schedule tomorrow.0 -

Thank you Jessica.0

Did 2A for the first time today.. came home and zonked out..
sooo tired..
whats that about?
But i liked 2A!0 -
I completed the first day today. I also did Zumba today. I am just going to add NROL to the current routine I have right now. I am afraid to abandon some of my current program since it has working but it is nice to have some instructions for weight training since I sometimes am not sure what to do. The routine looked short but I did feel very tired from it. I had to have some coffee when I came home after my lunch.0
-
Me too, Juice. I felt like I had done something RIDICULOUS after 2A. 2B seems to be a bit lighter, but longer. I'm so confused! LOL
GO you, Purplelilac! I'm sure you'll come to lovelovelove it like the rest of us!0 -

I skipped 6, because in the book he says that stage 6 is for building body strength (it's the pull up/chin up stage), and if you're interested in weight loss you can skip it and go right to stage 7 (which is what I did).
I ordered the book today, and will be ready to go when I finish stage 7. Tomorrow is my last workout of the first round of stage 7 (#6), and then I do all 6 again! Yikes, hope it's easier the second time around0 -
MeRo, I plan on skipping stage 6 too. I want to cut this fat ASAP. I looked at my measurements and will post for yall . Not sure if I measured correctly in the beginning because I don't "see" the results.
hips at widest zero loss and I also measure at a place I call the 'groin hip' loss of 1.75 (??? not seeing it or feeling it so much in my clothes)
natural waist increase of 1/2 inch
lower ab zero loss
around the belly button loss of 1 inch
upper thigh loss of 2 inches
middle thigh loss of 1 inch
These measurements are from April 1-current. Like I said, I may not have measured correctly . My clothes feel slightly looser.
No weight loss. I gained 6 lbs from the beginning until now, and I fluctuate 2-3 pounds in either direction.:grumble:0 -
juicemoogan, TheFunBun: I had the exact same experience too! I did 2A yesterday and I was zonked for the rest of the day and kinda pooped all day today. I'm sore in places I wasn't during Stage 1, so I'm happy about that. I also really liked it. I'm sure it will take me a few sessions to master the squat/push press. But I believe Stage 4 is this stage all over again, so hopefully I'll get it eventually! Looking forward to trying B tomorrow...after a good night's sleep!0

Oh no! Thank God you're okay.0 -
hi ,
i am new to this book, i read it a while ago but due to an injured achilles was never able to start it, still injured but the physio has told me its ok to do non impact exercise as long as i am careful.
Do you think it would be good to start doing this since there is no impact as such, i will stay away from any lunges as i struggle with the movement of that right now.
she has told me to give pilates a whirl but im more concerned after 3 months out about getting back to the gym, i will try pilates at some point too but i don't want to neglect my strength training any longer.
Can anyone give me any tips about possible subs for anything that i may not be able to do? anyone in the same boat perhaps? thanks0 -

Hi! I did the first two months while healing from a couple of broken bones in my foot. My doctor told me the same thing - you can do whatever you'd like....but no impact, and if it hurts, don't do it. I found that I was surprised by what hurt and what didn't, so I'd encourage you to try each of the moves without weight, and, perhaps standing at a bar or some other support (so you can use upper body strength to support yourself IF something hurts). Once you have a better sense of how many of the stage 1 moves you can't do, you can better evaluate whether this is a good time to start. And if it is, I'd suggest asking on this forum for specific alternate exercises. The ladies here are phenomenal, and will definitely give you great ideas!0 -
Maniac, what are your measurements form the beginning of the program. Month to month you aren't going to see a big difference. I didn't repeat my measurements for 4 months and saw a huge difference (except my dang legs :noway: )0
-
Sheesh, samntha, I'm glad nobody got hurt - still doesn't look like a "good thing".
I think I"m going to do New Rules of Abs when I'm done NROL4W. Likely around September for a start date, since I'm only in the middle of Stage 6 of NROL4W, am planning on doing the 12-work-out version of Stage 7, and I'm down to lifting only 2 x per week.
I have to measure at the end of this week and take photos - I don't think there will have been a huge improvement this month, even though I was UBER-careful with the "diet" piece. Oh well. I keep on truckin'....0 -

I think you read too fast.
I said the measurements are from April 1 until now and I just finished stage 3. I will begin stage 4 today. I really like this stage even though it is incredibly long.0 -
Sorry maniac.
Beeps I seem to be doing 2xweek as well at this point but I hope to pick it back up for stage 5. I want to be DONE by September (and be ready to buy new work clothes for the fall). Good lifting ladies.0
