Awesome job team!! I came down with a pretty nasty cold last night so I'm going to try and get a least a few miles in today! Hoping I can nip this sickness in the butt fast so I can continue on a good trend this coming week! I wonder where we're going next!
Also woke up to a good 3 inches of snow this morning! Where is spring?! We're supposed to get a bit more tomorrow I believe. Unreal!0 -

We only got about an inch of snow this morning, and none of it really stuck to the roads, so I was able to get in a short run this morning. I'm going to the gym soon for some upper body lifting. I'll get it all added into the spreadsheet this evening. I also did the dancing videos. I'm not sure, but it might have been worse than the Irish step dancing - no rhythm, no coordination, no grace, and ankle issues. But its done.
Now they are telling us 3-5 inches of snow tomorrow, so I'm not sure there will be a run. And the pool is closed for some sort of maintenance problem. I don't know what the plan is tomorrow. Maybe lower body lifting. Or it might have to be a rest day. Or shoveling This could be a week where I plan only one day at a time.0 -

Tara and I left an half hour before dawn for what turned out to be a grueling 5.6 mile hike, involving a fall, torn pants, hurt shoulder, wrist and knee, broken leash, and barbed wire! Then the real fun started when I tried to hose the caked-on mud off her when we got home!
WE ARE ALMOST DEAD-ON TIED WITH TEAM ONE AND WITHIN SPITTING DISTANCE OF THE PYRAMIDS!
I'm in pain. Time to hit the shower.0 -

Monday--not a great start this week; no workout and ate Easter dinner leftovers! I plan on hitting the gym tomorrow that includes the stair-stepper and a Zumba class.
Tuesday-Got to the gym today and did 50 flights! Also did my hour Zumba class. Ate some grapes for my Egyptian food.
Wednesday-The weather was so great here in Missouri that I went to the park and ran/walked over 3 miles. I also got in a few flights of stairs and a couple of belly dancing videos. I feel this has been the best day so far this week as far as my diet as well. Easter dinner was a definite set back, but I am back on track!
Thursday-1 hour of workout even though I had company. Went out to eat but ate a salad and actually split it since it was so big!
Friday-Only got in a 20 min. workout but at least I did something....busy day and night! I did eat before I went out so that I wasn't tempted to eat poorly at the Mavericks hockey game.
Saturday-Went to the park since it is sunny outside today! I jog/walked and enjoyed the sunshine! I finished the belly dancing videos too! Need to work on my eating on the weekends though...so easy to munch on this and that when I am at home...
Sunday-I is another beautiful day here in Missouri! Got outside and did some yard work. Can I count that as a workout? We cooked out for dinner, which is one of my favorite ways to cook! Did a 30 minute workout in case the yard work doesn't count...I'm pooped!0 -

Yes, yard work definitely counts! My Cardio Trainer app has 90 calories for 30 minutes at low intensity, 119 calories for moderate intensity.

I have done the belly dancing tonight, been really busy at work and with the son.. No sleep had a house full of teenage boys Friday night and they were in the back yard shooting baskets till 2 am ...rough but better that then out getting in trouble.... Did 91 flights of stairs. Posted everyday .... Where are we off too next?..0

Yay! This week I will be stepping up the gym time and dog walking. Yesterday, I also didn't count my leisurely walk through one of the state parks with my dog...should I be counting that as well? I was probably out walking for an hour and a half, he even got to take a little swim in the Mississippi. When we got home we took a long fast-walk (It was 73 degrees, hell yes!) and by the time we got home...he was so sore he curled up in his bed and didn't move for the rest of the night. Poor guy is so out of shape.0

Of COURSE you should count walking your pup!! Especially if he got a swim too! It looks like you forgot to do the Nutritional Challenge. I don't know if you can still do it since Week 5's Golden Ticket isn't up yet...you could give it a try (10 pts.!) or just make sure to catch it on the next leg.

Hey everyone, we are heading to Kiev!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is only 1898 miles away! We got this!!!!!!
And do to teams having low participation numbers, they aren't going to be eliminating any teams. BUT, they are going to do some reconstructing of the teams at the end of the week. I hope we just get some new members added and not that we all get split up.0 -

Kiev, here we come! The mileage is a piece of cake; this awesome team should be able to double or triple that!
The Roadblocks are a bit of a challenge though.
1. The Kettlebell - Not everyone has a Kettlebell! I googled it and saw that a beginner should use 8-10 pounds to start. I am a beginner! Here is what I plan to do: find something that weighs 10 lbs. (like a sack of flour) and secure it in some type of bag with a handle (such as strong plastic). You don't want it swinging around, so make it a tight fit. The video is almost 12 minutes long and it looks like we only have to do it once, but be sure to count those minutes!
2. The Marathon - 26 miles each!! For those of us that use the Elliptical Trainer or do Zumba, this could be a problem. My solution is to count your steps. My Vivofit automatically translates to miles for me, and I bet Fitbits do as well. But if you don't have either one, and can't carry your phone w/ you, buy a cheap pedometer and hook it on your dress or pants. Find a distance you know (like a 1/4 mile) and calculate how many steps it takes you. Then just do the math at the end of each day. I'll be happy to help if you need it. Those of us with dogs should have some happy, tired pups by the end of the week. I suggest we all start right away and don't forget to track your minutes as you walk/run!!
3. Fish or cabbage: Either one 3x this week. Shouldn't be too hard.
4. Accountability: There is a new thread called:" Accountable to Me" & it's an easy one, so let's get a 100% turnout!
We did an incredibly awesome job getting to Egypt and beyond. It really seemed insurmountable for awhile, but this amazingly awesome group prevailed!!
Don't worry, @mswanger09....if they try to split us up, a revolution will be on their hands!! I think what is really going to happen is that they are going to consolidate the teams with low numbers of participation, so that there are fewer teams, but they have more even numbers.
@ka97 You are the expert in lifting AND running...any further suggestions (or changes) for the Roadblocks??

For the kettleball, I am going to just use my 10 pound hand weight.
The mileage is going to be a tricky one! I already try to carry my phone with me as much as possible when I am at work. Sadly, the weather is supposed to be crappy here this week so it doesn't look good for getting outside. Looks like my best option will be firing up my Wii and doing a free run, several times.
And I told my husband about having to eat fish 3 times this, and he is heartbroken, but he said he will muddle through. (Seriously, he is super excited since he loves seafood.)

Snow today. Roads were not conducive to running, and honestly I wasn't even comfortable with driving to the gym. So sadly its a rest day.
@leti126 - I'm in northern MA.
I did the kettlebell roadblock. Only had a 25lb kettlebell, so I did two handed swings, used a dumbell for the clean and press, and used a medicine ball for the twists.
As for modifications, much of it can be done with a dumbell. Be very care if using a dumbell for the figure eights (i.e. don't drop it). You could probably substitute goblet squats. I'm not sure I would do the swings with a dumbell. But you could substitute deadlifts and front lateral raises.
As for the run/walk....if you have a fitbit, it will show your mileage. So will your iphone. There 's a "health" app already on your phone. There are also a number of free apps that you can download that will track your mileage. I was excited to see the run roadblock. Actually I was happy to see anything other than dancing. I'm bummed I couldn't run today though. Monday is usually a run day, so I feel like I'm already behind for the week. I prefer to take my rest day on the day before my long run, but mother nature had other plans. Isn't it supposed to be spring????0 -
GRRR snow in April is not right!! It feels so cold and windy and just wrong! It is APRIL, spring flowers... not time to break out the snow shovel, mittens, coats, hats, boots, long running tights .... we just packed those away! Arrgghh Okay Monday weather rant over

I was laughing about the marathon as I am watching the snow accumulate. -- My fitbit says I average 35-40 miles a week, but I really wanted to push myself to walk 26miles in addition to my morning work out. -- not so sure that it will happen. Did Zumba this morning and my free weight class after work. So I really wasn't motivated to go out in the weather tonight.
@hawkins410 love the new pic of Tara. Can you imagine how quickly we would have gotten to Egypt if we could count her miles too!! You guys really make a great pair!
Ok, speaking of a great pair. -- and excuse my crudeness, but i am willing to invest in a kettleball and do that routine daily if I could look like her. But somehow I don't think it will happen!
