test fit of assembly
Wedge pieces added to bring angles together between clamp pieces and yoke crossbar.
fit on both sides is good. Inner radius of clamps matches cockpit rim radius at station 9.

Bottom view of assembly
5/16 bolts with nyloncore locking nuts, countersunk at top and bottom will hold it together.
After final shaping and sanding, a coat of Tung oil on components and a second layer on the hardwood paddle.
Ash yoke crossbar and oak clamps.
Three projects drying.

Completed and fits perfectly
Easily carried by some random geezer.

Thank you for the photo showing how that lovely piece of ash is being used. It should make portaging a bit easier.3

LOL! One more reason to prefer wood or Kevlar/composite boats - less conductive!2

That was great stuff. 'Canada's greatest aluminum crimefighter'3

Did you get your new toy yet or hasn't yet arrived?0
-
Not yet, just ordered last night. Naturally I'm in
the middle of sanding down and re-finishing an old Ikea table. I have a small cheap sander I'll try tonight, but I might kill it with actual work.1 -
Yeah, it wasn't anything special when we got it back in the early 80's, but SWMBO likes it.
I'll see if I can find a before picture to go with the finished one. It stained up really nice once I sanded the layers of Scandihoovian finish off.4 -
looks great Farback. A lot of time & hard work0

Sounds like Scandinavian mixed with Dr. Who...worrisome. Will the table be bigger and colder on the inside then?1 -
It will be older than kerosene, but younger than me. Got the first coat of finish on tonight. it's looking good.
Working on a project for the firehall. We need to have security on records, so I'm building a wall pass-thru and box for alarm reports so they can be slid through into the chief's office.
Got the wall part made up tonight.
And mounted some hinges on granddaughter Theo's toy box.

Tonight's program, build part 2 of the alarm record mail box,
One of the other guys is going to paint it. The large panel prevents prying eyes from looking through the wall slot,
Put lettering on granddaughter Theo's toy box. Safety hinges still back-ordered. %&*#.
And finally, reassembled and put second finish coat on the Ikea table re-furbish job.
I was able to re-assemble this despite loosing my Ikea frinlapizter tool in a fight with a Kraken.
Before and after:
That before shot is from 2011. A few of us firefighters were practicing rope rescue stuff in the living room. I don't know why that woman gets so wound up.

Tucker and I just got commissioned to build another of these for his new sister Olive, six months old now. I just 'happened' to order a second set of these safety hinges...

All the bits are starting to look like a boat. I'm also building a shaving horse for carving paddles. It will look similar to this one.
