It's been a week now sharing this headcold and coughing from DH. Getting better. I've been on the treadmill, taking it easy, for a couple times just because I can't stand being a slug. Otherwise I'm still pinned to the couch with two dogs and binge watching kdramas. We're also having a ice/snow storm in the mid-atlantic this week, so no one else is going anywhere either. Really can't complain.

Gayle - Are you over the worst of it? The flu just drains all motivation.

Hi Mary! It has been a while - How are you?

I'm really trying to get back in the swing of things. I haven't started posting my food regularly so really need to work on that.

3/02/18: 202.6 First day of Spring Challenge
3/12/18: 204.6 This is the first day of my Metabolism Revolution diet, wasn't hungry and right around 1200 calories
    3/17/18: 201.3

Seems I'm not going to gain back the weight I lost from being on the BRAT diet. Back to eating "real" food. Staying in the 1200. Still coughing and feel weak but I'm on the mend. Laying low. Just keeping up with grading my online class and dragged myself to class on Wednesday (went to bed after) and teaching drawing Thursday (killer). A ghost of myself. Hopefully this next week will continue to get better.

    I'm back too!

I had the flu after Christmas, then pneumonia and then, just as I am getting better a cold!!! Almost hospitalized but I talked and coughed and promised my way home.

It has been a long and horrid winter.

I have be back to regular stuff for about 3 weeks. This week I finally made it back to thinking about weight. About 10lbs up so I have some work to do.

I am so glad to see that you all are still here!

Gayle, I know what you mean by needing adult supervision. I haven't gone there, yet. I would be a 40 minute drive one way to Weight Watchers.

But I was still stuck in my dither about feeling good and losing weight on a low carb diet and the doctor's office telling me I had to go low fat for my cholesterol. I was doing neither. Low fat was too difficult and low carb was somehow bad. So I was trying to sneak in things I would have bacon and eggs but then turning around and be eating oatmeal and sweet potatoes because I should. And I was gaining weight. (When those are my treats, there is a problem!) And seeing the doctor every 3 months for cholesterol checks was just messing with my head.

So .... last week after a good checkup (without managing my diet at all), I was released from blood work for a year (hurrah and finally). I realized I had to choose something and stick to it. Since low carb worked for me before and I feel better when I am eating that way, I have committed to it. If there are consequences, I don't care. I need to lose weight, I need to feel well as I do it and I need something I can stick to. So decision made. I will eat my way and take their pills.

I am sorry to hear that I am not the only one who is sick. I hope you all are getting over your struggles now. And it sounds as if we are re-committed to getting this weight thing under control.

    Good to be back.

I hope you are all feasting with family this weekend.

    Cheers

    Marney

Sigh. Off the BRAT diet and mostly within my 1200 calories but not moving enough and have been giving in to "But normal people get to eat that (think nachos)" and so I am gaining back the weight I lost on the flu. Going to do an Easter feast tomorrow and then Monday back to strict 1200, then the following week going on the Metabolism Revolution Diet. Healthy food choices and no dairy, caffeine, corn, wheat, soy. Three days with vegis, protein, fruit, four days with vegis, protein, healthy fat (nuts, avocados), Then repeat. Got off the BRAT diet by eating Lean Cuisine and applesauce.

3/30/18: 139.0 DH heard a few seldom heard words out of the bathroom that morning. Too much birthday celebration. I haven't seen a number that high since January 2015.

4/8/18: 136.8 Back in my happy range, though I would like to see 133-135 consistently. I kicked up my activity level and realized I was snacking a bit too often. Reminded myself it's okay to hear my stomach grumble and wait for dinner!

Our friend arrived from Turkey and brought lots of treats along. Though I'm not a big fan of raisins I was surprised out delicious black Turkish raisins are - no sharp aftertaste. The black olives are a treat too. A Turkish breakfast would typically be sausage, egg, olives, cheese, bread, tea. But she had lived here for 5 years a while back and is adaptable. She has already requested her birthday pie in May - our family lemon chess pie. She'll be here till the end of June.

Really closed my eyes this morning when I got on the scale. I've been feeling so fat that I was sure I was at 205. So a great relief to at least be below where I started. The Metabolism Revolution soon. A friend of mine did it a year ago and tells me she feels like she has a "different body". She is very slender now. So psyching myself up.

A co-worker is using Weight Watchers and doing well. I'm surprised to hear that fruits and veggies are considered "zero" points since everything adds up, but it must work out for him since he has lost 42 lbs since January (he is 6'5" and over 300+lbs). He also is a fan of kimchi. I gather friends and we make 30lbs at a time several times a year. Now there is talk about having good gut biome so it may be part of his success.

I'm an old school WW person and recently tried the new program. I just couldn't get with the zero point stuff and hard to track on mfp.
I've just started on the Halley Pomeroy Metabolism Revolution and it is day 5. I've lost a few pounds and am going to stick with it. A friend of mine do super well on it. What I like about it is it is what I eat, basically. lean meats, fruits and vegis, some healthy fats. Having a hard time timing my meals and portions but will get with it.

Ran into a snag on Haley, my brain just doesn't function on so few carbs. Adjusting and experimenting and in the meantime sticking to my 1200.

Sigh, getting used to the idea that under 200 is a win.

Hello All! Let's start the Summer Challenge today, June 8th, and go until September 1st. There are a lot of summer temptations but also great summer fruits and vegetables, lean grilled meats and opportunities for exercise. So far this year has been a struggle for me but working on my attitude. Rather than giving a lot of emotional energy to focus on how fat I am I am visualizing health and the extra weight just flying away. I have been slow but not giving up this race.

Good to see someone else here too! Today my weight is 138 lbs. the highest since achieving my goal. My happy range is 133-136lbs. Doesn't seem like much but that's the way to go off track.

Since my pregnant Turkish friend arrived on April 4th we squeezed in a lot of fun (and food) activities. I was there in labor&delivery on May 22 when her son was born. On May 25th her husband arrived from Turkey - nice guy but very little English. Unless Behice is there to translate we use "google translate" app to communicate... picture me walking through Costco and my phone is speaking English and then Turkish..
Things are a bit chaotic since breastfeeding ran into a snag - this week they realized that Ali is tongue-tied - easily corrected but not till appt on Thursday. We want everything working correctly before they return home on June 19th.

So evidently, for me anyway, routine is important. Adventures make life interesting but I need to be more vigilant.
I am still doing treadmill daily but the weekly dancercise class is on vacation till July.

    On with the challenge!
