This side by side pic of my face after losing 45 pounds is my NSV for today. I have 150 pounds to go and I am excited to do it. Sorry for how large the pic is.
Congratulations! You look fantastic! Your skin has adapted so nicely.
It amazes me how individual weight loss is. I didn't start seeing a change in my face until I was further along - at about the 75 pound loss mark. And then, to be honest, I wasn't happy to see it because I am all baggy and saggy! But that is to do with age as much as weight loss.1 -
After taking a deficit break and upping my daily calories my scale has not been a reliable source of "good job" confirmation lately. Yesterday I picked up a vintage skirt skirt I saw on Facebook marketplace. It reminded me so much of a skirt my mom had given me from her youth. It is a size 8, wool, with a lining, nothing stretches anywhere with this baby! I haven't worn a size 8 since I can't remember. Nine months ago I wore size 22 or 24 and shopping has been so limited because of Covid that I really have no sense of the size of my body. I just keep pulling out old clothes from my weight gain journey.
I was embarrassed to pick up the skirt - I thought the woman selling it would laugh at someone my size buying this little skirt. She didn't comment on that at all - only said that she thought I looked like "Blaze." I had no idea who that is - but now know and it was a compliment indeed!
When I got home and unfolded the skirt I couldn't help but laugh. Didn't think I could even get one leg into this long skinny tube. Didn't think there was a chance that I would ever wear this skirt and started thinking of who I could give it to.
I put it in the closet - it had to share a skirt hanger with another skirt from pre weight gain - and I was shocked to see that the new one was only a few inches smaller than the old one on the hanger and started thinking...maybe...if I do indeed lose another 30 lbs (which will take me 30 pounds under my smoking weight). I went off to cook dinner, and this skirt was dancing around in my mind so I came back before I ate and actually tried it on. I managed to get it up! The zipper gaped wide open - but WOW.
Can't believe it! I'm in a state of denial and wholesale excitement at the same time. Wonder how long it will take for my brain to catch up with my body!1 -
Today...I was under my calories?? This literally never happens to me. I eat every calorie allotted to me, and then some. I ate a lot of good foods today which probably helped - breakfast was an egg white veggie mini frittata and a glass of fairlife chocolate milk. Lunch was leftover quinoa and red rice, ginger-garlic spinach, a spicy maple soy sauce, and some teriyaki tofu. Supper was mujadarah (rice with lentils and caramelized onions), which totally filled me up. And somehow I have 150 calories left. I was going to have a few oreos for dessert, but I wasn't really in the mood for them. But now the more I think about it, the more I want them lol.
It feels good to be full, especially on such healthy foods this week!6 -
Sort of a scale victory but also sort of not—yesterday I weighed in at the weight it says I am on my driver’s license. Only took 6 months and 73 pounds to get there, haha.4

This was my first big deal losing weight!...being able to stand preparing a meal!...I used to have to sit down every five minutes!....I still keep a chair that rolls in the kitchen but I use it to sit in when I put things in the back of low cabinets....
I love it that you are finding it a little easier to stand while you chop...do you have a Fitbit?....mine reminds me to get 250 steps in every hour....it helps!2 -
@conniewilkins56 no fit bit but I have thought about getting one. I want one for the pool I’ve heard there are ones that can go in water.0

I have a waterproof Versa Fitbit I got on sale for $99 dollars last Feb....I like it and it picks up my exercise in the pool but misses some of the steps in the pool....1 -
My iwatch goes in the water and I LOVE it. it allows me to leave my phone at home and still receive message and calculate all my exercise both in the water and outside. It also allows me to change the volume or song on my Bluetooth speaker while I'm working out. If I'm not feeling the song that's playing I don't work out as hard. lol1

@conniewilkins56 I finally had to bite the bullet and go buy new underwear this weekend. I was in a size 10. I pulled a 9 off the shelf and looked at the sizing and according to the back of the bag it was still too big. I bought a size 7. I freaking size 7!! They are tight but fit. Though really I think underwear is supposed to fit tighter and not sag down lol.3

Isn’t it insane to be so excited about buying new underwear? Lol2 -

I have had my Fitbit for about 2 weeks - and I love this hourly reminder. And it has lead to a new NSV. 3 minutes to go to get 245 step in one day last week, I thought I would try a slow, kind of jog in place. Haven't done anything like that in a very long time. Did it. Didn't kill me. Didn't hurt anything. 90 pounds down has made such a huge difference, but sometimes I forget because you don't just wake up and go - wow - I'm so much lighter.
And very very early this morning I went for an MRI - hopefully in prep for a soon to come shoulder surgery. It was so much easier now that a few years ago. Still, my arms touched both sides of the tube - but I had a lot more space so wasn't quite as terrifyingly claustrophobic.
It is so nice to be a member of this group because noone else in my life gets this kinda of thing and it feels like I'm just making a big fuss when I share these little victories - but here I know you all understand.4 -
I cooked the whole day thanksgiving without sitting down. My leg hurt a little last night but I did it!!4

I will admit I had to take a few sit down breaks but I am twice as old as you lol....you did a great job!...my toes were killing me from water jogging...new water shoes are on my list....4 -
Oh I took breaks, I didn’t mean to imply that. I just didn’t sit while cooking like I have been for the past year or so.

My sister said I need new pants!! I didn’t think anyone could really tell I lost weight. Made me feel good but I’m not buying anything unless I have to.
I’m a long way from my goal and I’m not trying to break the bank on clothes. Especially since I’m not working.

Congrats! I usually do thrift stores for new pants, but not with covid. Check out thredup or poshmark online - there is a lot of variety and sizes. plus you can sell your older too-big ones. It has helped me through the last 4 sizes!2 -

Woohoo! Congratulations.

My husband can now stand behind me, wrap his arms around my stomach, and actually lace his fingers together now, which is an awesome feeling.
My jeans have also gotten uncomfortably saggy in the, uh, middle regions but I'm holding off on buying new jeans for as long as possible. Luckily I'm still not working, thanks to covid, so unless I have to go out for something, I've been living in pajama pants.4 -
My 11 year old daughter was able to put her arms all the way around my waist to hug me.7

That’s awesome!1

Yesterday I had a bunch of NSV......my sweat pants from a year ago were sliding off of my hips.....I sat comfortably in a booth....my granddaughter asked me if all I was having for lunch was a salad.....then she told me I was really looking skinny lol.....I shopped for 7 hours with my granddaughter and I wore HER out!....4
