DW, Happy birthday to your DH. Cheesecake would certainly please me on my birthday. Dinner out too....woo hoo!

Shari, It is great that you aren't hungry on your plan. Do you have to weigh and measure your food to account for your macros? Just curious because it seems so very specific.

I had a good day for my to do list and am pleased that I got so much done. I am doing better with controlling my hunger and cravings by eating when I am truly hungry which sometimes means eating without John. I always sit with him when he is eats, but it seems we are sometimes on different hunger patterns even though both of eat breakfast together every day. I just get hungry before he does for our subsequent meals.

Good to hear from you DW! Hope you get some rest and your energy rebounds. Fun to celebrate a birthday! I won't ask how many candles you managed and will just assume that was a feat to get them all on the cake.

I was over in calories yesterday, today the scale was okay, we shall see what tomorrow brings!

Not much new overnight. Still having issues eating too many fats and not enough protein. I am going to need to balance that out. Then maybe, just maybe the weight will start to shift.

My internet wouldn't cooperate with me yesterday so I didn't get to check in. Now I am checking in earlier than usual because our weather is once again a problem with many power outages already. So far we have not lost our power. We are currently under a tornado watch till 10 PM. All of this is due to the remnants of Hurricane Debby as she moves up the east coast.

I had a good day yesterday and am having a good day today so far. The next few days are very low demand for me, and I am not imposing any great pressure on myself to change that. I feel so much more relaxed when I don't have a lot of demands to contend with. My Friday to do list is already completed. I am looking forward to a pleasant weekend. Our weather is expected to improve by Sunday.

I haven't been near a news source in awhile and have missed the updates on Hurricane Debby. I hope you stay connected with power Paula.

I had trouble logging my food in at dinner as I went to our staff family BBQ. I don't typically go, and I most likely won't go again. I don't enjoy socializing in big crowds. All it was, was a meal and then sitting around visiting. I think the kids had a lot of fun playing together. I thought it was very boring. I like a smaller group that is more intimate or if I am in a big group, it helps to have a bit of structure. Some games or activity to help people mingle. I didn't really know everyone there either. Which was weird. I am ranting on, thanks for letting me process. I think it's great the organization plans this for the staff, there are a lot of us, but I know it's just not for me.

I also don't enjoy socializing in big crowds Shari. I always tend to focus on a few folks I enjoy and/or feel especially comfortable with. I wouldn't do well with structured group activities either however.

I did ok today, and the day flew by again. I had a grocery delivery and appreciate the sales offered. Seems like grocery prices have really gone up so I shop the sales and plan meals around sale items now more than ever. I was delighted that organic blueberries were on sale again this week. I enjoy them in non fat cottage cheese for breakfast and/or for a snack.

We had a pretty productive day yesterday. For dinner, I roasted some veggies we got from a neighbour. So good! So thankful too. Fresh veggies, homegrown are the best.

Paula- I have been eating cottage cheese and blueberries too. I have that for an evening snack quite often. A good way for me to get protein without so much extra fat.

Not sure what all I will do today, but I hope it's a day to enjoy the things I have and appreciate the time to do so.

Shari and DW, I hope you enjoyed your Sundays as much as I enjoyed mine. It was just what I wanted: first our online church service, then the rest of the day reading, relaxing, some calls from church friends (my old church and my current church), and healthy food choices with no excessive hunger. It was just what I needed, and I felt good all day long. Tomorrow's to do list is already prepared, and I am optimistic at least most of it will be completed.

I had a very nice Sunday too. A lot of time outdoors since it was so nice out. I did pretty well with my food choices and was trying to get in some extra calories in the evening. That is much nicer than going over in fat and then trying to fit in protein (which so often comes with fat too). I am only working part of today which will be so nice. I have some of my last youth group coming out for dinner. They just graduated from grade 12. Lot of changes for them and then seem quite happy to come and see each other again. My co-leader and his family are coming too. Should be a very nice day.

Hello! I also had a nice Sunday! I went to church and then had to go to Kohl’s to pick up an order. DD went with me, then went home to do a few chores, then came over for supper. This is a rough time for her because her wedding anniversary would have been on the 18th. DH made pasta sauce using tomatoes from our garden- it was delicious!!
Shari, I hope your dinner went well with your graduates! Paula, I’m glad that you had such a nice Sunday!
I worked a few hours today then had a nail appointment and went to the gym. Sadly, my to do list was sacrificed for those activities but the list will be there tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday!

DW, so good that you are able to support your DD at such a difficult time. Time does help, but anniversaries and other important dates require extra support. Homemade pasta sauce using garden tomatoes sounds wonderful! It's been ages since I've had something like that.

Shari, I admire your involvement with your youth group. It is rewarding to be a part of a positive influence with youth during such a crucial time in the lives.

I had another good day today again. John and I had substantial (and very satisfying) Greek salads for supper, once again using garden tomatoes and cucumbers from my friend. I accomplished some but not all of my to do list, partly because I got a late start and also because of a few phone interruptions. I like DW's observation that her list will be there tomorrow too. Made me feel better about undone my list!

DW- I am so sorry about your DD's heartache. I can't imagine how difficult this time is for her. All of the what ifs resurface. It's good that she is spending time with family to help her through.

We had a lot of fun last night. Swimming, walks, games and some karaoke. The food turned out well and it didn't consume much of my time at all. I could engage with everyone. They stayed a little later than I would have liked, but that is a good sign that were enjoying themselves.

The "list" never seems to be get 100% done lol. It's always faithful to show up tomorrow. I think it's good to be reminded that we do what we can and leave the rest for another day.

i have an off-site meeting all day today. I will be fitting in a trip to the gym. It's a big part of my routine now. Three times a week. I feel stronger!

Shari, congrats on incorporating the gym into your routine....very impressive. I love that you feel stronger too!

I was a little more tired than usual today so I worked in an afternoon nap which helped a lot and still had time to tackle my to do list. We had our online Tuesday evening Bible study, and I didn't want to be too tired for it or too listless for the class. It worked out well because it was an exceptionally enriching class, and I was wide awake for all of it! I did well with food choices again. I have begun to enjoy an afternoon snack more often then before, and then my hunger is more manageable.

It looks like a rainy day today. We need it so bad too. Our lawn is very crunchy and my garden is struggling. We can't water with tap water as our well has too much iron in it and is very soft. The plants don't like it.

Should be a typical day for me. Hoping to track okay and stick well with my regime!

I hope you got the rain you need Shari, enough to give your plants and lawn a good healthy drink. We've had our share of rain lately. Hurricane Debby is gone away from us but we are expecting some rain this weekend again.

I struggled a bit today to stay on track. I had more points than I was aiming for but still have some extra "weekly" points remaining. The day flew by again for me. Both John and I had PT in the afternoon. I was pretty tired afterward but didn't take a nap. Instead I worked on some minor "to do" items and then rested after supper but didn't really nap. We have an online church service tomorrow morning at 9 am and then John's OT is at noon. The good part is the rest of the day is free to do whatever we want/need to do...I hope!

The rain only threatened! We still need some. And we have a lot of smoke in the area today. So not good to be outside breathing it all in.

I didn't stay on track yesterday, but I am all set to do today. My meals are prepped. All I have to do is stick to what I made/packed.

Hope both of your days go well!

I hope your rain comes soon for your garden Shari. Any predictions on how much longer the smoke will be in your area?

It was a pretty good day for me. I ate on plan but got lazy about tracking once again. That is something I used to be very good about but need to be more consistent these days. A friend visited this afternoon and stayed much longer than I expected. That was my poor excuse for not tracking. To see positive results I have to track consistently.

The smoke will be around all weekend, but it shouldn't be as bad as it was yesterday.

Paula- you have always been my inspiration for tracking. I struggle to do it! I have improved so much lately. I wholeheartedly agree that is key to obtain results. Little cheats here and there just don't work.

Hello! Happy weekend!! It has been a busy week but I finally got to the gym tonight. It turns out that Friday evenings are a great time to go- significantly less people than usual!! Shari, I so admire that you have your gym visits in your weekly routines! I hope you will get the rain you need!
Paula, so nice to have a friend stop by!
Last night DH and I went to another art opening. It was 1.5 hours of driving one way and we stayed 15 minutes. It was a wonderful show in a very nice gallery but it was too crowded to do the art works any justice. I took his photo in front of his painting and we left.
Tomorrow I am hanging out with DD, going to a parade that she will be in for work and then to Costco. . I also hope to knock some items off the to do list! Have a great weekend!!

Shari, I did well with tracking today in terms of logging every bite....that's the good news. The bad news is my point total was slightly too high again because of portion sizing. Good thing tomorrow is Saturday and on Sunday I'll get more extra weekly points. It is a good reality check for me however.

DW, I am fascinated by your involvement in the art community as much as I am fascinated by your involvement with dog shows, such an interesting and rewarding way to enjoy life! If you ever feel like you can share any photos of your DH's paintings, I would so much appreciate that. I am an art illiterate, sad to say.

My day went well for my to do list. I completed one big chore that has been on my list for quite a while. And I went all day without napping. Woo Hoo! I enjoyed having good energy today and eating healthy...now must refocus on portion sizes again.

We finally got some rain and that was wonderful. I did notice a few yellow leaves on my lawn. That isn't so good! I am not ready to see summer slip away. I will enjoy every free minute that I have outside.

I would love to see the paintings too DW. I am not an artist, but I do enjoy artwork.

We had such a fun day yesterday. My family, less my oldest went to a place called Activate. Lots of interactive games. They LOVED it, and I felt so blessed having had the idea and able to play with them. Then we went to Chick-fil-a (not on my menu plan) but the first one just opened in Edmonton. That was enjoyed by everyone too. A successful way to celebrate two birthdays at once.

Happy you finally got some rain Shari! I'm with you not wanting summer to leave us yet. I am not familiar with Activate but it sure does sound like a lot of fun. Was it your birthday Shari? I think Chick-fil-a has some healthy options around here....grilled chicken comes to mind. I used to frequent the Chick-fil-a drive thru when I was more out and about.

I had a good day all around....tracked my food, made healthy choices, and stayed well within my points. I realized (again) that it is important for me to eat when I am hungry, even if John isn't ready to eat yet. Otherwise I get too hungry and overeat! I enjoyed the day and did not stress over the to do list, but still managed some progress. No to do list for tomorrow, Sunday!

It wasn't my birthday, we celebrated our middle son and the youngest's girlfriend's birthday. Aug 14 & 16.

It is really smokey this morning. I haven't looked online to see where all the fires are, but they must be quite bad. I haven't heard of anymore towns being impacted, but I feel for the animals having to fend for themselves.

It should be a relaxing Sunday today, but we will need to stay indoors.

We had a very rainy stormy day today with severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and all night till almost midnight. I cooked earlier than usual just to be prepared in case we lost power, but the power stayed on today, thank goodness. It seems that we got about 4 inches of rain in just those few hours, resulting in road closures and flooding in many places. So glad I am able to stay home, especially on days like today. I made a delicious turkey meatloaf and tried green giant riced cauliflower medley with no sauce. I didn't care for this kind of cauliflower rice. I should have added butter and seasonings or something. John ate it but I are very little of it. Lesson learned.

That is a lot of rain in a few hours, even over the course of a week. That is crazy Paula! We barely got a 1/4 of an inch. Not much at all.

I didn't track my food yesterday, so I need to get back on track today. It was mostly because I took Kyle and Claire (the youngest and the girlfriend) to see my parents. My mom made us dinner and it was too hard to try and track.

I took a day off today so that we could spend it together. We plan to canoe down the river this afternoon so that should be fun. I haven't done that in a couple of years. It will be so good to be in the sun all day.

I am glad you had the day to spend with your DS and his girlfriend. Family time means a lot and it sounds like you planned it for a good weather day.

I was sort of out of sorts today but felt better after a nap in the evening. That darn RA fatigue comes through now and then and can pull me down. John and I had our final evaluations with PT today. John did well. I did ok but felt I could have done better. Our PT arrived 90 minutes late today with no notice and really no explanation. I was annoyed but nicely told her she told us she'd be here at 2 pm, not 3:30. She kind of just brushed it off, but it did throw off my plans for the day. On a brighter note, I did very well with my food and tracking today.

We had a great day on the river. So peaceful and it was a gorgeous day. I need to do that more often than we have been doing.

Sorry to hear about the RA fatigue Paula. Let's hope today you feel better. Strange the RT didn't call to say she was running behind or mention anything.

I head into the office today, my son and girlfriend will drive to High River to visit her parents for the next five days. It's been so nice to have them here.

Do your DS and his girlfriend live far from you? I cannot remember where your boys live. Wonderful that you got to enjoy time with your DS and his girlfriend and do fun things too.

I had a very normal day today, with no excessive fatigue and no unusual pain (just the regular pain, lol). I didn't over do my to do list but did manage to get a lot of items checked off. I made a turkey tenderloin for supper along with a salad and some mixed veggies. It was so very filling and satisfying. Tomorrow is another hair cut day for me and John. I have less anxiety than I used to about venturing out. I am hoping all goes well.

A quick check-in after a long but good day...I drove to our hair cut appointments today and did fine all around, including getting in and out of the van (using the step from Amazon). I also did a few other errands that didn't require me to leave the van (getting gas, dropping off and then picking up my lap tops from my computer guy again, a drive through at an ATM). We got Subway sandwiches so I had a break and didn't have to cook supper. I feel so good about how much and how well I did today. I think I will have confidence to venture out again, although I don't have anything on the calendar requiring me to go out till our next haircut appointments in 5 weeks. But who knows, other things could pop up.

I think I forgot to post my message from yesterday and then this morning when I refreshed this page, it was gone. I do not recall what I posted.

My kids- I have one that lives not too far in St. Albert, one lives downtown Edmonton which is a 30 minute drive away and the youngest lives in Vancouver BC.

Good to hear that you managed your trip out for haircuts Paula. That is a big win! Knowing that you can run an errand if needed is great.

Just a regular day for me today. I will pop into the gym after work. I had a good day yesterday and was able to stick to my meal plan. I hope to get a few more days under my belt and see if I can nudge the scale in the right direction. It's been pretty stuck the last few weeks. Consistency is going to be key for me.
