Shari, I hope you can get your needed sleep this weekend. You know I am a strong proponent of being well rested. It makes a huge difference for me and has always mattered. I am sure that I was sleep deprived for many years while John was growing up, and I think that is part of the reason I gained weight in those years.

It was an easy day for me today in terms of what I accomplished as I had a very manageable to do list. Eating was a bit challenging as I was hungrier than usual. I went over my points because of unhealthy snack choices. Ugh!

I had a great sleep last night, but I did end up in the guest bedroom which is not something I do very often. DH was snoring and I couldn't get him to stop long enough so I could fall asleep. It was worth the move, I slept very well. I think lack of sleep does contribute to weight too.

It was a full day yesterday and I didn't get my steps in. I will focus on that for today. The weather is soooo much better now and I super thankful for that. We can be outside today and that will be good for us.

Yay for your restful night Shari! And yay for your good weather too. Sounds like your weekend is off to a great start.
I had a restful and church-oriented day. We had a 9 am online service this morning, then our usual Vespers service at 5pm. I did a few little things during the day, but nothing demanding or major. After the 5 pm online service we "went" online to another vespers service where a visiting choir was singing and a priest we admire was preaching. We are quite familiar with the choir and the priest. My eating could have been better, but it wasn't too far off today. I have tomorrow's meals planned with not much room to vary or cheat.

We visited a young couple friends' of ours and met their baby Emma. It was so nice to hold a new baby! You forget how tiny they are. Then we went to church. The not good part of the day was that DH took us for burgers. He was quite hungry, I had a late lunch at home, so I only ate half of my burger and gave him mine to finish. It worked out well. Today isn't planned yet, but should be an enjoyable day.

Good going eating only half of your burger Shari. I don't know that I would have had that strength! Wonderful to meet and hold new baby Emma. It will be a joy for you to watch her grow!

I did well today, tracking everything including snacks. I had my usual Sunday phone calls, one from a friend from my old church and one from a friend from my current church. Each one of these friends call me almost every Sunday and often during the week as well. It helps me keep up with the goings on at both churches. I wanted to read today for Tuesday's class but didn't get to it because of the phone calls and a call from another friend as well. By the time I finished cooking and eating supper I was not in the mood to read. I will have to focus on my reading tomorrow. I wasn't fatigued or tired at all today and didn't take a nap. I am always pleased when I have a long day and didn't need to sleep at all. I am sure I will sleep well tonight.

I am thankful for a good sleep last night. All set for the work week. Eating went well yesterday but I was short on protein. I will make sure that I get enough today. It's also a gym day and after I work out I typically feel energized. Maybe I will put a few more things away in the basement. The piles of stuff to sort is finally getting smaller.

You had a full day Paula. Hopefully you have time to ready in preparation for Tuesday's class.

Such a good feeling to have less "stuff" that we don't want/need. Less stuff equals more space which I think is generally a good thing.

I had a successful day today. I finished all the reading I needed to do for Tuesday. My to do list was easy and short, partly because I knew I had to do the reading. I was not very hungry today so staying on track was not a challenge. Craig is coming tomorrow (I hope) to do a few projects so most of my afternoon will be taken up with him.

Less stuff is better. More space and easier to keep tidy.

What kind of projects are you having Craig work on Paula? Right now my only focus is the basement. I can't wait to get it completed. Won't be too much longer before I can start my seeds inside. I am not having a big garden this year as we are doing summer fallow. So I will focus on my greenhouse and a few other beds. But I am getting excited to start.

Today Craig replaced the safety bars that attach to our handicapped toilet in our main bathroom. The old bars were in bad condition from many years of use. On one side the bar was very unstable and had been held together with duct tape for some time. It is so nice to have new bars that look good and are very stable. John is very happy to have new stable bars. pz3x5ocn4500.jpg Craig also helped us set up a ring camera for our driveway. We already have a ring doorbell that captures images/videos at our door at the top of our ramp, but we had no camera focused on our driveway. Today's new camera is ok but is indoors and focused outdoors through a window. This is because of our internet situation. I know we would get a better view if we installed a camera outdoors, but I am doubtful that our internet would support the appropriate location. Craig also did a few little things for us as there always seems to be something else he can help with.
I am at the top of my points for today and could have made better choices, but overall it wasn't a bad food day.

Getting the toilet safety bars replaced is so good. I can see how helpful they are. Something to keep in mind for aging parents. I will have to ask my mom how she is doing in that area. I know she can't take a bath anymore as she finds it too difficult to get out of the tub. She said she is fine to shower.

I know about the issues of internet reaching further for the cameras. We are still trying to make sure our wifi reaches our garage so we can use our camera and an app for the garage door.

I didn't do great yesterday with my eating, so today I need to be super focused.

I enjoyed a good day for food, rest, and to do items. I took a brief late afternoon nap, after I had done a lot of little things that needed my attention. I felt very refreshed after that short nap. The day was quiet, without many interruptions which helped me get things done in a timely manner. I am starting to think about what to get for John for his birthday next month. He says he doesn't know of anything that he wants. We will probably do a special food delivery meal for his birthday but other than that I don't have any good ideas at the moment. I am thinking of watching for something to purchase to stream on Amazon Prime as he does enjoy films and documentaries.

Paula- you do so well with naps. That is something I haven't been able to do, at least not yet. Maybe it will be a future practice. I am not at all opposed to them.

It gets so hard to shop for our grown up kids. I find the same difficulty so we typically end up sharing a meal together.

I had a long day yesterday and got to bed late. Thankfully my sleep was good. The two pastors that I work for are off this week so I asked if I could work from home one extra day and I am allowed too. No drive in for me!

So happy for you to be able to work from home and to avoid time spent in traffic. Your pastors sound very kind and understanding. Yes I do well with naps and actually always did. I remember when I was in college I would enjoy a short "power nap" in my dorm on some days. This habit for me goes back about 50 years!!
I ordered a birthday cake for John from an excellent creative baker, a woman from my old church. She often makes cakes for sale although she doesn't have an official business. She just makes them for friends who then give her some $$. She has made John's birthday cakes for the past several years. John selected a lemon cake.
I did not do well at all with food choices today. I was absolutely not on my game, so to speak. It was the kind of day that if I wanted it I ate it! Very dangerous!! Absolutely no discipline. Sheesh!

Ooooh- I love lemon! I bet the cake will be soooo good. Gotta get back on the discipline train Paula! I know you will, it's not very often that you report a day like that. And maybe it wasn't as bad as you think. Did you still track?

I bought a Ninja Creami (I actually ordered it with some of my airmiles) and have used it just once. Still figuring it out, but I love that I can make a frozen treat and add protein and have it taste so good and be so low fat. There are so many recipes to try, I don't think I will get bored in a long time.

    Woohoo for another Friday.

Hello! Shari, I second "woohoo for another Friday"!! I have not heard of a Ninja Creami and plan to look it up. Paula, the lemon cake for John sounds delicious! I take "accidental" naps frequently by falling asleep in a chair watching TV. I've discovered that DH is doing the same thing because I have awakened him by calling mid afternoon. I've had a rough couple of weeks with a cold that lasted one week-it gets to the point that I can't tell which is worse the cold or the cold medicine-both make me feel uncomfortable. Then I've had some stomach upset that wakes me up at night-I am hopeful that it is under control now-time will tell! My weight is hanging around the same area and I haven't been back to the gym since DD stopped going. Once I feel consistently better I plan to get going again. Tomorrow I'm going with DD to her tax appointment and then to a shop that is near the tax place. I received a gift certificate for Christmas and hope to use it. Nothing else is new here. Have a great weekend!

I too was unfamiliar with the Ninja Creami. I looked at its several different versions online. It looks wonderful and quite versatile. Shari, you'll have to let us know how you enjoy it. I plan to start organizing my taxes tomorrow to get the info together to give to my accountant. I tend to procrastinate with this task but am giving myself a pep talk to do it tomorrow.
I did not track my food on Thursday when I was on my eating safari! I got back on track today and feel good about that. I will be careful again for the rest of this weekend.

DW- I have heard about a terrible cold/flu going around. I am thankful that I haven't gotten sick again. My last illness was just before Christmas. Enjoy your shopping, let us know what you find with your gift. certificate.

I think I will enjoy the Ninja Creami. I plan to make a simple recipe today with fruit today, although it won't be tasted until tomorrow. Everything has to freeze for 24 hours. Earlier this week I made Banoffee ice cream. I really enjoyed, and it was super low in fat and calories. That is the win for me.

Shari, you are broadening my horizons! I had to look up banoffee. I never heard of it but it sure sounds delicious!
I did well with food today, not so good with tax prep. I have several friends who are very low tech (even more low tech than I am!!). One of these friends needed me to do some things online for him. That took up just enough of my time to give me the excuse to put off doing the tax work. I am sure I won't do it on Sunday, so now it gets pushed into some day next week.
Let's all have a blessed Sunday!

Good morning! I had a wonderful time with DD yesterday and was blessed to witness her having some things go very well. The tax appointment is always challenging for her ( not for any real reason- it just makes her nervous) and it was short with an excellent result for her. After that we walked three doors down to the little shop we like. She purchased several items and I purchased two pair of earrings with my gift certificate. Then, while in the car, she received an expected call from the man who is siding her home. From her end of the conversation I could tell that she is comfortable asking questions and talking with him and he is kind to her. She was very happy after the conversation and I was relieved that she feels like she can ask questions. The work is being done while she is at work but DH drives by to see what’s going on.
That all made my day yesterday and I had a text this morning that she purchased her tickets to visit her brother in June.
My goals for this afternoon: do my taxes and look up Ninja Creami! I hope you both have a blessed Sunday! I can’t believe that Lent starts this week!

I am thankful that DH looks after out taxes. I would find it a challenge like your daughter does DW. But shopping, that is something that I do enjoy. Glad you found some earrings.

I didn't remember that lent starts! Our denomination doesn't talk/do much for lent. But I have taken to practice it some years, but not all. I will consider it this year. It is a healthy spiritual practice.

DW, Such good news for your DD and her taxes! It sounds like she is gaining more independence/confidence, too planning her next trip to see your DS and his family....so much progress to celebrate. I really like pretty earrings. Even though I don't go out much at all, I still enjoy wearing earrings. Most of mine come from the Avon catalog.

This year Orthodox Easter (Pascha) is the same date as when western Christians celebrate it. I always like when the Easters are together. Our Lent starts on Monday. This week we will have church services every evening and twice a day on all weekend days. I will "attend" online as usual. Our eating will change as we abstain from certain foods during Lent. We are encouraged to increase our prayer, reading of scripture and other church material, etc.

Praying for a blessed, spiritual, and enriching Lent for all of us!

I woke up before my alarm this morning which is unusual. Hopefully I have enough energy to last the day. I want to make it to the gym when I am done work. On top of that I want to get my steps in and stick to my eating plan. We shall see how the day unfolds.

Hope your day worked out as you planned Shari. Working out and getting your steps in is a great way to start the week.
I tracked all of my food and did well. I had a good amount of veggies today and had no hunger pangs or cravings. My day went by quickly as I once again worked on something for my low tech friend, and the work still isn't complete. It will take more of my Tuesday time I am sure.

I didn't end up going to work out. I was pretty tired and not feeling 100%. I am going to go tonight instead. I well with food, so that was good. Hoping that I feel better today and have my full energy back.

I am finding I sit way too much and I will see if I can build some better structure during my work day so I get more movement.
  • Paulawilldo
    Paulawilldo Posts: 1,196 Member

I hope you felt better today Shari and were able to get to the gym. Sitting at work is an issue for so many people. It is good to move but some work demands make it tough at times.

I had an excellent food day today, not over my points and all healthy choices. I aim to repeat that for Wednesday. Craig is coming in the afternoon so my afternoon will be busy, and I am not likely to snack then. I had a telemed visit with my rheumatologist today. I like him so very much. He is pleased with my progress and adjusted one of my meds. I am so blessed that he cares for me the way he does and allows me to continue with the telemed visits since he is about 75 miles from me and that travel would be way to much for me these days.

  • shariletts
    shariletts Posts: 1,039 Member

I made it to the gym and I felt really good afterwards (I stayed to have a chair massage for 10 min). I hit my step target too. Now to keep that going. Paula- I am with you on having a repeat day today.

I can say that I am thankful that Covid really helped us with video meetings in a variety of areas. I am glad that you can have meds adjusted after a telemed appt Paula. That is so remarkable.

It's my long day today and I often struggle to stick to eating only what I take with me for my meals. I will be trying to have a win in that area today. There are so many temptations and I need to resist. It will be a big shift for me when I can stop the snacking on processed foods so available at the office. I am hoping that some cranberry juice with soda water will hit the spot if I crave something sweet.

  • Paulawilldo
    Paulawilldo Posts: 1,196 Member

Office temptations are tough to fight Shari. I hope you mustered up some strength and motivation to cope with goodie were was there. Your point about processed food is crucial. It is so bad for us! I tell myself to focus on its lack of nutritional value and potential harmful impact on our bodies but darn….it sometimes tastes so good and is indeed tempting. I was able to repeat my good eating day today and am pleased with that. I made veggie tacos for supper with an avocado salsa my friend gave me (the same friend I helped with the technology stuff). The tacos were delicious and very low in WW points. I have enough of the salsa to make veggie tacos one more time and will certainly do so. Craig never showed up and didn't call today. I thanked my lucky stars that I hadn't placed a grocery order for him to pick up. My guess is he simply forgot to come (even though we made plans just the day before). That happens with him sometimes as he tends to be a little scattered.

    shariletts Posts: 1,039 Member

I did okay at the office, not perfect though. I am happy with the progress that I made and will keep working on avoidance. I did eat everything I packed and having soda water at the ready helped.

    I love tacos!

Craig used to help you out quite often, hopefully you will be able to establish a steady routine that will help his forgetfulness. My DH helps one of neighbours quite often. Walter and Tony. They are 93 and 78. They need quite a bit of help and have a few people that pitch in. I am thankful we can still live in a society where community steps in to help each other.
