This morning I am going through my regular weekday routine. I will miss my time reading, but I can do that tomorrow. Hoping that all goes well at my meeting, I am not typically in charge of these things, so I will be leaning heavily on God to support me.

I had two meals out yesterday. I need to recover from that! I have also slipped in getting my steps in so I will focus on getting those back in today. I am hoping the temperature will be warmer today, it's been so cool all week. It would be nice to feel the heat in the sun.

Shari, I hope your meeting went well today and that you are able to catch up on your reading tomorrow. Our warm weather here is delayed again too. We are having more thunderstorms tonight. My phone tells me we just had a lightning strike about 4 miles from our home. Thank goodness John and Buster are finished going outside for tonight.

It was a sleepy lazy day for me today. I was tired and didn't accomplish much at all. I don't feel too guilty about this because I realize I needed the rest. But it does force me to accomplish a little more than usual on Monday. My food choices were good and logged so that is a positive for the day. Looking forward to another restful and healthy day tomorrow.

The meeting went very well. I was very pleased. I still had the afternoon to do laundry and make cookies for an uupcoming bake sale. It was good to keep my mind busy! Today I will have a day to relax. The sun is shining and I am very thankful for that.

I hope that the church services fill up you soul Paula.

So nice to have a sunny Sunday when you can relax Shari. It was mostly dreary and gray here today with more rain headed our way for Monday. I do gain much from our church services. Today we had 2, one in the morning and another at 5 pm. I really need them right now too. So they are a blessing in many ways. I didn't do much else today except, read, relax, watch some TV with John, and talk to my cousin. She just returned from a trip to Ireland so I enjoyed hearing a little bit about her trip. I made good food choices again and tracked all I ate, so that is a plus. Tomorrow is a "no excuses" day for me to get items checked off my to do list. I sure hope I accomplish a lot because I am behind a bit now, but I know it can be done.

I spent some time sitting outside and decided to have a fire. DH was looking after our neighbour Tony. He had gone to hospital the night before as his knees buckled and he couldn't stand to walk. They never figured out what happened but some of his meds were changed and he got a new one for a bladder infection.

Back to work and hoping that refund shows up on the Visa so I can book our flights. That is weighing on me. Looks like a nice sunny day today so I will try to spend my breaks outside with a short walk around the house or up the lane.

Will try to stick to me eating plan too.

Shari, I am still praying for Tony. Please continue to keep us posted on how he is doing.

I had a super busy and productive day today as planned. As usual, John was a huge help. By the time we were finished, I was exhausted, but pleased with all we accomplished. After supper I took a nap and went into a very deep sleep as I often do when so very tired. When I awoke I felt pretty good again. I didn't track all of my food, but I know I was on track and in my point range. I can go back on Tuesday and fill in what I missed logging on Monday.

Tony is home from the hospital. They don't know why he collapsed. He does have a bladder infection and was having an allergic to some medication he was given. Today my DH is taking him to a dermatologist to get his rash looked at, but the rash is going away now that he is off that med. I think it might not be a helpful visit now that the rash is figured out. Jim has got him a walker so Tony has more stability walking around.

I am still waiting for the refund to show up on the Visa. I am getting anxious as I want the refund, and I want to book the flights. My supervisor is away so that makes it hard to make decisions about this.

Shari, your DH is so good to Tony and is an excellent example of how we all should care for those in need. A walker is good to have for safety. It will be interesting to see if the dermatologist is able to determine anything that will shed some light on what is going on with this gentleman.

I sort of recovered from yesterday's exhaustion. I was able to get a long list of "easy" items taken care of today. I needed this kind of day after pushing myself so much yesterday. I didn't work too hard at my food choices today and didn't log what I ate again. I wasn't very motivated regarding food. Every now and then I take a day or two like that. I know it slows weight loss, and sometimes I am just too easy on myself. It is winter cold here again. We might see some warm up next week.

    shariletts Posts: 1,084 Member

Tony's dermatologist wasn't entirely sure what the rash is from. He didn't think it was an allergic reaction. He gave Tony a prescription so hopefully it goes away completely. DH did pick up a walker for Tony. He will go over there today to take it downstairs and clear a path for it. These gentlemen are hoarders, not too terrible, and the house is unfinished. No drywall or flooring. The main floor is more of a greenhouse and storage. The kitchen is in the basement. I have only seen the main floor. The house would be beautiful if was to get organized and finished. It's huge and in a lovely location.

The refund came through! And we booked flights with Group Sales with United. Last night we entered all of the passenger information and today we call back to pay. That is such a huge weight off of my shoulders. I will have lots to do and plan for, but the piece will be done today.

Paula- I think it is okay to take a day off here and there to keep diet fatigue from setting in. One day off is better than giving it all up because it is overwhelming. I learned about dloading yesterday. That is simply taking a week at the gym to lift half of what you are capable of lifting. It gives the sympathetic nervous system a break. Maybe that is why we value vacation when we are in the workforce. We need a break from the constant need to perform or produce.

I will be working on getting my cortisol levels lowered with diet, excercise and prayer. I also have a dr appt this morning. I want to chat about my anxiety and see if I can something on hand in case of a future anxiety attack. Hopefully I never have to experience one again though.

Hello! Just a quick note tonight since it is late. Shari, I am so happy that your refund has come through!! Paula, I agree with Shari about the benefits of taking a day off occasionally!
We have had a very cold week so far. Today is DD’s birthday so we went out to eat and then back here for dessert. The 3 person “party” ended just in time for me to 9make it to church for our study. I sent all of the birthday sweets home with DD😁. My DS has his birthday on Easter this year. I must focus on sending Easter and birthday gifts to AK very soon! Have a great rest of the week!!

Shari and DW, I very much appreciate your comments and support about taking a day or 2 off from focusing on my plan. I will hold on to the term "diet fatigue," as that is a new term for me. I had never heard of dloading too. Interesting concepts. Wonderful news about the airline refund!

I did well today getting back on track for the most part. Tomorrow afternoon I have my annual mammogram. I am driving, and Craig is going with me to get me in to the medical building using a wheelchair they provide. Last year's mammo resulted in my having to have a follow up ultra sound which found nothing to worry about. I have been stressing off and on lately because a few weeks ago I found a small lump in the same breast as last year, but I am thinking/hoping it is the same one that showed up last year and was just a benign cyst. I will find out in a few days after the mammo.

Glad you were able to have a little birthday party for your DD DW! And another birthday in the family coming up so soon.

Paula, I know it would be hard for me not to worry about the mammogram after needing follow up last year. I am praying for the results and that you are accurate stating it's a benign cyst.

Our flights are officially booked and paid for now! That is such a relief.

I saw my doctor to talk about my anxiety. She suggested that I go on some meds for the next 6-12 months so I can get my anxiety in check and allow my body to heal and rebuild the right systems so my brain receptors can work properly. I do not love the idea of takin a pill, but I also know my anxiety has been a bigger issue than normal. I think I have had a lot of emotional overload the last 5 years so I am willing to try the medication. But I don't want to.

Shari, as always your prayers are much appreciated. The tech told me it could take up to a week for me to the results. That is a little longer than typical. When we were ready to go to the mammo my van battery was dead, not sure why since I just drove it last Thursday for our haircuts. Thank goodness Craig was here and after a bit of a struggle I was able to get in his van, and we made it to the mammo in plenty of time. Craig jumped the battery using his van when we got back. He will check back next week to see how the battery is. I am impressed with your doctor's understanding and sensitivity to your anxiety. I am sure that you described your circumstances very well. You are very in tune with your body and emotions. I can understand that you don't want to take the med, but there are times when it could be worth giving it a try. I trust you'll know.

I am anxious this morning as I have the medication for my anxiety and will take it with breakfast. I think I am really realizing how anxious my baseline is, and now that it is above that, it doesn't feel good. I think I can hide it really well, but physically it is uncomfortable and I am wondering what it feels like to not have this underlying feeling. I choose the shows that I watch carefully, because if they are intense, it causes me to feel anxious. Last night we were watching a reality show and I could feel my anxiety. All because of the suspense and build up to reveal the winner. I get anxious because I get attached to someone and want them to win so badly. I guess I thought this was normal and perhaps because I am sensitive, it just presented on a higher level for me. Now I am thinking people may not be like me and just enjoy TV as entertainment with some emotion. I just can't imagine feeling anything different than I do now. I appreciate having this space to write out what I am feeling. It helps.

Glad you made it to your appointment Paula!

Being able to share here means a lot to the 3 of us I think. Shari, you sound very much in touch your emotions, including your anxiety and you express this very well. I will continue to pray for you of course and will expect you to have good results with the medication.

I had a hungry day today, not sure why, as I didn't do anything really different. I was in an afternoon snacking mood, perhaps my way of coping while waiting for the results of my mammogram. I started with fruit and ended with pretzels. Ugh! Not a very good coping skill but tomorrow should be better in terms of my food choices.

Let's all have a good and positive weekend. We are expecting cold and rainy weather again. It has been raining here for hours already. It makes it rough for John and Buster to do much outside. And I worry about them while they are outside.

  • shariletts
    shariletts Posts: 1,084 Member

I managed to take the first pill, today I am less stressed about taking it. I had a hard time falling asleep last night, which isn't normal for me. It may have been the medication, but it may have been a late in the day coffee that I was served. I was told it was decaf and I am usually fine with that, but maybe it wasn't. I will see what happens tonight.

I am prayting for John and Buster to be safe on all of their trips outside today.

Thank you for your prayers Shari. John and Buster did well outside. It seems like we won't have rain for a few days, and we might even have some sun in the next few days! Woo Hoo! I hope you sleep better tonight and that you continue to adjust to taking the medication. These things take time I think.

I did ok but not great with my WW points today. My monthly WW fee is increasing and I will have to call them to get the "reduced" fee again. That kind of annoys me, but I do enjoy using the app and keeping up with the info WW provides. I am also thinking about taking a few months off from paying for WW and just following the plan as I know it fairly well. Their customer service isn't what it used to be. It wasn't even possible to get through to them this weekend as now their customer service is open only on weekdays.

A blessed Palm Sunday to all!

I did better sleep last night, I was up in the night a bit, but I was able to fall asleep as per normal. DH didn't wear his sleep machine so I slept in the spare room and had to close the door to muffle his snoring. Hopefully he will wear it tonight!

I hope you can get that reduced fee for WW Paula. It is nice to be able to use the same app consistently so you have access to all of the historical data.

Today I will enjoy a sabbath. We were at the Palm Sunday service last night. It was very good. I don't have an agenda today, so I should be able to relax and do things that bring me joy.

  • Paulawilldo
    Paulawilldo Posts: 1,244 Member

A Sunday without an agenda sounds like a good approach to enjoying the sabbath. I planned to rest somewhat today but had several interruptions including an unexpected, but short, visit from a friend who gave me only about 10 minutes notice that she was coming. I wasn't expecting company and appreciated that she didn't stay very long. The usual Sunday phone call from one of my church friends was short today because I had an online church service coming up and told her I couldn't talk long. My food choices weren't the healthiest today but I stayed in my point range. I plan to call WW tomorrow to get a price adjustment. If no adjustment, I will drop out for a while and then return when I can get a discounted rate.

It was chilly outside yesterday with wind so I didn't spend anytime outdoors. It has been a long winter and Spring is delaying it's arrival. Hopefully the warmer temperatures will come soon. I had a very restful Sunday and look forward to a short week. I have not made Easter dinner plans. I will need to work on those.

I hope you can get back on with WW at the discounted rate Paula!

Shari, are you hosting an Easter dinner? For us it will just be John and me. Perhaps some friends will drop by later in the day or during the week ("Bright Week" in our church). We enjoy celebrating the entire week after Easter. I will have our traditional Eastern European foods again, but no ham this year. John and I don't enjoy it enough, and it is off our food list as we work towards eating much less food from animals. And honestly, pigs are so adorable and intelligent. That goes for lamb too. Good news on the WW situation. I got a lovely customer service rep today who fixed everything and gave me the reduced rate for the next year. I think WW is hurting in general these days so they probably didn't want to lose me as a member. I feel good knowing that my membership is set for the next year. Let's hope I will be at goal by then, LOL!

I had my virtual visit with my family doc today. She is so wonderful and truly cares about me. She is going to look into my mammo results tomorrow if the results aren't out by then. She looked online, saw that the mammo wasn't read yet, and seemed a little annoyed by that. So perhaps by Tuesday or Wednesday I will know the results. She is also addressing some of my RA issues in addition to the way my rheumatologist does. She knows me as well or maybe even better than my rheumatologist does.

I have not decided if I will host a meal on Easter. If I do, it will be a very small gathering. I need to make a decision soon!

Paula- so glad you were able to get a discounted rate for the next year with WW. Mission accomplished! It does seem strange that your mammo hasn't been read yet. I thought they would be read pretty much the same day as the test since they do imaging daily. It's never fun waiting for results.

I wasn't feeling great today but am a little better now, later in the evening. I rested most of the day and grazed instead of eating real meals. I did cook for John but didn't feel much like eating a meal. I did a few items on my to do list, but nothing terribly taxing. It is extremely windy here again. Some places lost power from the high winds again. So far our power has stayed on. I am so ready for some real spring weather. No word on the mammo yet. I am expecting to get the results tomorrow.

  • shariletts
    shariletts Posts: 1,084 Member

Glad you started feeling better Paula! We are also experiencing a lot of wind these days, but not so windy that we would be in danger of losing power. I am so ready for Spring too. I see it's another windy day today.

A typical day for me today. I am hoping to stick to my meal plan, which is always a bit more difficult when I am at the church office. I really do prefer to work from home and thankful for the days that I can.

Hello! Shari, I hope your medication will be helpful! I discussed some with my Dr. at my last checkup and will bring it up again at my next visit. I don't recall why we postponed starting some. Paula, I'm happy that you were able to get the reduced rate for WW! I'm glad that you have a family doctor that you like and who looks out for your best interest.

I have been very tired lately and went to bed at 8:30 last night. I think I would have more energy if spring would show up! Our Palm Sunday service was inspiring as was the last night of our Lenten study tonight. I am very sorry for the study group to end. There are plans to resume in the fall. I am taking it easy on Easter. DD will come over to eat and will bring deviled eggs(I hope!) I plan to make a recipe called "The Best Ham Sandwiches Ever" (or something like that). I made them years ago and DD requested them this year. I can prep them on Saturday and put them in the oven after church Sunday. I just need to think of 1-2 easy side dishes…

My weight has been inching up. I think most is water weight, but it is quite frustrating. I've had no energy to get back to the gym-hopefully soon! I hope you both have a wonderful Thursday!!

DW, I feel for you being tired. You have so much to do in your life! Getting enough rest is crucial to so many areas of our life! Yay for you going to bed at 8:30! I hope your study group resumes in the fall. It sounds like it was a good experience for you.

Shari, Do you have any extra days off for Easter?

Good news on my mammogram. I found out today a little after 1 pm that it is normal with no mammographic indication of malignancy. I am relieved and praising and thanking God for this good news and for the prayers offered for me. I had a fairly busy day today getting ready for the tomorrow's visit from my cousin and her 2 grandsons. Craig was here too today as I had a small to do list for him including checking the van's battery….once again dead. So I had AAA com with a new battery. Tomorrow Craig is taking the van to the repair shop to have the tire sensors checked again as the warning light comes on even when the air in the tires is now low. Food was not a problem for me today….I barely had time to eat.

Sounds like we are all waiting for Spring to arrive! I see the sun is out this morning, so maybe today will be the day to kick things off.

Why does it seem so impossible for weight to inch it's way down? It never takes any effort to see the opposite effect.

Such good news on your mammo report Paula! Celebrating with you.

I have Friday off, but we don't get Monday off. We are having dinner out tonight with DH's family as his brother is visiting from Phoenix. His mom always picks the same restaurant and it is one of least favorite places to eat ever! I find it hard to choose anything on the menu and then I don't typically enjoy it. I have tried a number of items and haven't found anything worth having again. It is a cajun restaurant and quite cute and cozy. Just not my cup of tea. I always hope I don't have to eat there again. I guess I am complaining because eating out isn't good for weight loss, so when you do eat out you hope it will be enjoyable.

  • Paulawilldo
    Paulawilldo Posts: 1,244 Member

Enjoy your Friday off Shari! Hope the dinner goes ok. I know you are a good sport about this kind of thing. I have seldom had Cajun food and am not sure how I would feel about it. Seems kind of odd to me that an "older woman" such as your MIL seeks out Cajun as I think of it as rather spicy.

I had a really good day today all around. Craig took the van to get the tire pressure sensors replace and only one had to be replaced. I was expecting to have to pay for 2 replacements so I saved a little money there. And we had a wonderful visit with my cousin Sharon, her DH, and their 2 grandsons. The boys were so much fun and so well behaved (ages almost 8 and 5/12). They certainly have grown up and matured since the last time we saw them, a few months ago. We played some games with them but they mostly enjoyed playing with Buster who was so good with them. These boys have 4 Boxers at home and are accustomed to much bigger dogs. Sharon and I have a great relationship, and her DH is a great guy too. I was pretty tired when they left and took a deep sleep nap on the family room loveseat. i know I needed that! I did ok with my food today too, enjoying some zero point foods to help balance a meal that was higher in points than I usually have.

  • shariletts
    shariletts Posts: 1,084 Member

The dinner went well. I ordered a steak but it wasn't great. I ate half and brought the other half to have for lunch today. I think they like this restaurant because the wait staff know them and that makes them feel at home. I wish I could be more myself when I spend time with Jim's parents, but I find it difficult. I am polite, but not engaging as I typically would be. I think I am protecting myself from past hurts. Jim's mom is trying, maybe that makes it more difficult for me, I think it could be she is trying so hard. Oh well, it is pleasant enough. I do love his parents and care about them. It's just not a natural relationship and that is okay.

You had a full day Paula! I can see why a nap was needed. Glad things went so well.

My middle son is coming over for a visit this morning. I need to go get ready after my coffee. I will tidy up a bit too. I am not sure if he is coming alone…. DH thinks he may be seeing someone. He has read more into texts we received. I am glad he shared his thoughts so I can be mentally prepared if I am meeting a girlfriend. Time will tell lol!

  • Paulawilldo
    Paulawilldo Posts: 1,244 Member

Ah Shari, Now I understand your MIL's desire to go that restaurant. Your explanation makes sense. Your in-law situation is a tough one Shari. I can understand how difficult this is for you. It is not in your nature to have this kind of relationship, especially with folks you care about and love. I applaud you for trying and giving as much as you reasonably can to the relationship. I hope you applaud yourself for this too. Will be interesting to find out if your DS has someone special to introduce to you. Hope all goes well!

I did fine with eating today and wasn't very hungry. My energy level was normal to high which pleases me. I have been on Prednisone for 2 days now, prescribed when I had my online doc visit with my family doctor earlier this week. She prescribed it to give me some relief from the muscle spasms (and I suppose the overall pain) I have been having for the past few weeks. Wow, what a difference this med makes in my overall pain level. I know it won't last much after the med runs its course, but it is good timing for me now with Easter/Pascha upon us. I will cook some traditional foods on Saturday but will not overcook and will not over do it. I had a ShopRite delivery today full of much healthier food to enjoy in the coming week. We have 3 church services tomorrow and one on Sunday/Pascha. On Pascha John and I will enjoy some of the foods we have been abstaining from during our Lenten period.

    A blessed Easter weekend!
