How do you handle being snowed in?
Good Morning! Now that we are officially in winter and some of us have to deal with being snowed or iced in, wanted to check in and see how everyone handles it? I know for me personally, it's hard sometimes to stick to eating the best choices. I am sure I am not alone here so wanted to see what you guys did. Today we have…

Selfish
As the surgery becomes real for me, I am feeling like this is the most selfish thing I have ever done. My change is going to have an effect on my family, some positive some negative for them too. I am the chief cook and grocery shopper. I am already making things I won't eat but it's getting harder. Is this normal? Does…

New Here
Hello All, I am 26 and need to lose a lot of weight. I have done a lot of research and feel like getting the sleeve is the right thing to do for me. My surgeon highly recommended that I do the bypass but has ultimately said that I could get the sleeve. I have 25 more lbs to lose before I can be approved for surgery and my…

Stomach Flu
I'm suffering through my first bout of stomach flu, and I'm 1yr post RNY. OMG KILL ME NOW!!!! I'm on day two. Day one: I drank a protein shake...or should I say that I just borrowed it? I haven't thrown up, but I'm not really eating. I'm living in the bathroom. As soon as I try to eat, my body says NOOOO. I put small bites…

when did your hair loss stop?
Hi there, So it's been quite some time since I last posted--coincidentally about a similar sort of topic! I'm about 10 1/2 months post op. Weight wise, things are good. I've lost 114 pounds since my surgery and feeling healthy. My weight loss has essentially stopped in the last few months so I think this is it.…

The Before/Current Photo Thread.
I didn't want to steal the thunder from anyone elses' progress threads, so I created this one for anyone who wants to share their current/past progress. Post em if you wanna: . . . . Arthritis meds
I take diclofenec for arthritis and they told me I have to stop taking it after the surgery. Do any of you take anything for arthritis?

Peptic ulcer
My RNY was Jan 20, 2015. In September, 2015 I was diagnosed with an ulcer located just past the anastomoses into my small intestine. This developed while I was already on Prilosec, and Zantac. After learning of potential side effects from Prilosec (kidney disease, memory loss and others) I decided that medicine wasn't good…

Eating out 3 weeks post-op?
Hi all, I had VSG on 11/14. I'm eating soft foods from a very strict list provided by my nutritionist and I don't want to cheat in any way. At work I've been taking an intense training class, 1 week a month, for three months. Our small class has gotten pretty close. This week is our last week and the instructors want to…

Food Delivery Services?
For months before I even started talking to my VSG surgeon, I was getting Green Chef deliveries, one of those food box subscription services where they send you a box of ingredients with recipes each week. I LOVED it. The food was healthy and tasty and I dropped some weight just from switching to it. Now that I'm…

Aldi products that I love...
I'm a recent Aldi convert. I could never do all of my shopping there, but found some products to try at a great price that have become staples in our household. Fit and Active No Sugar Added Raspberry Preserves -only 10 calories per tablespoon and < 1 gram of sugar; I was pleasantly suprised that there is no detectable…

Hip Bursitis?
Curious if anyone has had hip bursitis? For a couple of months now my right side of my hip has been bugging me. When I sit upright in a chair like I am now I am fine but when I lay down to go bed or get up and start walking the pain is there. I work out with my trainer once a week but I spin 2-3 times/week. If anyone has…

Anyone ever feel like garbage and not want to work out?
Been feeling really tired and run down over the past week or so. Not sure if it is due to the time change we had, my whirlwind trip to NY or what. My head is starting to feel congested and just not up to going to the gym..haven't been all week and I am working from home tomorrow so I can't go to spin (if I feel up for it),…

Getting back on track
Hey there! My name is Lena and I had the gastric sleeve on 12/16/14. My highest weight was 278, I was 250 the day of surgery and at my lowest I was down to 167 with my goal being 160lbs. It seems like I am forever trying to stay on track/get back on track with my diet and here I am trying again. I had gotten back up to…

Awaiting approval UTMB Galveston
I've done my 6 months as required by my insurance, had all the tests and visit with the psychologist. I have lost 45 pounds. I got denied last week. It was awful. The insurance company wanted a weight from 2013. It should have been there and wasn't. I got the hard copy and delivered it. Thursday my Dr. has a peer to peer…

Sleeve surgery November 14th
I did it! I was sleeping Monday morning. The first night was rough I can't lie... dry heaves, asking God why did I do this? Second and third nights we're better. Today is the 4th day and I'm hangry. Must mean I'm healing right?

Who logs their food?
Do any of you have to log? I hate it, honestly. I'm in a 3 month stall and everyone says I'm eating too much so I guess I'll have to do it. I wish this journey was as easy for me as it has been for others I know that have it the sleeve!
