Post surgery excercise
I'm proceeding as though I'm getting my call today and will be scheduled for my sleeve before Christmas. How soon after can you start weight training? I was looking at joining before surgery but it seems like a bad idea to start then stop for whatever period of time required to heal. I need to add something to my walking…

Got my surgery date..
My surgery is set for 11/29! Now I'm having very serious second and third thoughts... The support system I thought I had are backtracking now that the surgery is a reality and I'm afraid I'm now not in the right frame of mind to do this... my goals haven't changed but now I'm just worried to do this all alone.... has…

Stress eating
Do any of you still find yourself stress eating? I have had a stressful week or two and today is very stressful. I worked out hard with my trainer today, and went to Starbucks for coffee. While I was on line the scones were calling my name ( I'm human even after surgery..lol) but I went for a decaf coffee and 2 string…

Higher Calorie, Lower Density Foods...do they exist? lol
Ok guys! I need help! As I stated in the Recent NSV thread, I'm trying to UP my calories! I'm struggling! It's hard! I feel nauseous and like I'm forcing myself to eat. I'm looking for foods that will go down easily. Right now I'm trying to eat a minimum of 1,500 calories, 100-120 grams of protein, fats and carbs are…

Hello from Seattle
Hi folks! I'm currently in month 1 of my 6-month supervised weight loss on the road toward surgery. At this time me and my surgeon have decided on RNY/Gastric Bypass. I am using the team at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle under Dr. Sung. Looking forward to making some new friends here on MFP. I've used this site before…

Keto after WLS?
Hey all, have any of you tried Keto WOE after WLS? I am 11 years out and have recently started, 2.5 weeks actually, and I am really enjoying it. I don't have a lot of regain (maybe 8# over last few years) but want to drop that and the last 10ish I never dropped to meet my ultimate (personal) goal. Just curious any…

Do not ear popcorn
Have been to ER twice since Friday. Today is Wednesday. Have an impacted intestine. Two enemas, twice being manually manipulated. They were able to remove some but still not able to move my bowels. Kernels are not processed. Very painful. Like being in labor for 5 days. Thought I found a healthy snack.

2 YEARS OUT
I am 2 years out from my VSG and I just thought I would pop in and give an update. I am still so happy that I had this surgery done. I knew from the beginning that it was not a permanent fix, but instead a means to getting me to where I could feel more in control. That is exactly how I feel still today. I lost about 92 lbs…

Halloween!
Let's see some Halloween costumes! My husband and I ran a 10k this morning. I WON my age division and my husband placed 3rd in his. My time was 13 minutes faster than the 10k race I ran in April...and I didn't puke at the end of this one. It's the little things that count!

Add me :)
Hi there! My name is Kari and I'm 3.5 years post-op VSG. I've maintained a weight loss of 150-155 lbs (depending on the day) and would love to add more people to MFP to give and get support! MFP has been a huge staple in helping me maintain and I've noticed many of my friends on here haven't been as active or have been…

Almost there...
I've completed all the insurance requirements and am now just waiting for the approvals. My husband expressed concerns iinitially that I don't "need" the surgery and my lack of follow through. Which, I don't have a great track record but I'm committed to this. My problem... he has not really asked anything about the…

Three Years!
I can hardly believe it's my three year surgiversary! I am so happy I made the decision to have VSG. My health and my quality of life are so much better now, sometimes it seems surreal, because I never imagined I would be where I am now. I am so grateful every day that I wake up and I can breathe and move and feel good. I…

Unsure about surgery?
This is month five, out of six, for my required pre-op program. As my surgery month is getting closer, I am feeling more unsure. Can you tell me how you felt in the weeks before your surgery? How about the first weeks after? Were you scared and unsure?

Calorie in take after vsg

Let's see what you are eating.
I'm one of those weird people who likes to see what other people are eating. Especially with wls, I all too often get in a rut. Seeing what others are eating helps me. Maybe it will help you too. Share Picts of what you are eating with how far you are.

Anyone interested in sharing food diaries?
I am a little over a month out and am taking in 750ish calories each day. I feel great and have dropped 15 pounds since my surgery. I do feel as if I'm getting into a rut with my food and would love to share diaries with anyone and give/get feedback. Let's support each other and get all this weight off!!!!

Get started??
Hey! I'm interested in getting the lapband. sounds safer than the sleeve and scares me less. Main question, how do you get started? did you have to do a weight loss program first? insurance coverage? Help. I think this will help my main issue and that is over eating. I have major depression and food was always the comfort…

My surgery is scheduled for September, looking for others in sept.

One week after my VSG
I had my surgery on Sept 26th. Not much pain, and things seem to be going well, but I have a few questions: 1) I wasn't told "no straws to drink" and I've been using a straw since I came home - is this a "guideline" suggestion or a hard & fast "DON'T DO IT" rule? 2) I had many pre-existing conditions I was taking meds for,…

TMI: Excessive Gas
OK, so I'm a year out, and have had this problem for the last month or 2. I am building up excessive and somewhat painful lower gas like every day. Sounds like I'm tearing a hole through reality. It's thankfully not odorous, but it's extremely powerful, loud, and takes a while to feel, um, decompressed. Luckily it's…

Shingles
So last Sunday (10 days ago) I started feeling terrible and noticed these red, puffy blotches developing on my leg. It looked bad so went to Dr next day. Turns out I have shingles. Originally Dr (not my personal Dr but his associate) said it would take a week to clear. When that didn't happen I went back. My doctor says…

2 1/2 years out and I have questions.
I had gastric bypass in 2014 and I lost over 200 pounds really quickly so I've been "maintaining" for more than a year. So I'm up and down about 8 pounds all the time. Cause I eat cake haha. I go through carb spurts and I hate it. I gain weight, freak out, put myself on restrictive diet. Lose weight. It feels like a…
