Honeymoon Phase?
How would you describe your "honeymoon phase"? Was it that you couldn't get in very many calories, so weight was dropping? Or was it that you were losing well at 800-1000 or more calories? What was your experience in the beginning months/year, and why so you think the honeymoon is over? Or did it ever end for you? Did you…

6 months out and time to get serious again
Hi everyone. I'm new to this and am looking to get inspiration from people & connect to give me a virtual kick up the *kitten* from time to time. I've lost 6 stone since 31st October last year and started to run 5 days a week. Problem is over the last 6 weeks old habits have crept in. I've been stressed at work and I've…

Tell me to take a drink...
I've really been struggling to drink enough water. I understand how important it is to stay hydrated, but I've been letting it slip and I've been really bad this past week. I've been at my desk several days this week, looked up to see that it's noon and I haven't had even a sip of water. There is a cup of ice in the…

Are you 3+ years out (or around that)? Need advice
Hi everyone- How many grams of protein are you shooting for daily? And, is that the same amount you eat if you're actively trying to lose? Thank you for the refresher - I'm WAY off course! Want more details about moi? Nutshell: sleeved in April '14. Lost a good amount of weight, from 276 at highest to about 188 at lowest…

3 Years out and depressed
Hello new friends- I had Gastric Bypass surgery 3 years ago. The first year/year and a half, I managed to lose 153 pounds but never got to my goal weight because I started to cheat erratically/fell into depression and managed to probably gain 80 lbs of that weight back. I am only three years out!! I never used my tools…

I got approved!!!
I'm so excited I got the call this am from the NP that my insurance approved my gastric sleeve! I go in tomorrow to meet with the surgeon. I'm hoping to get my surgery date. I still know they have to do the appointment where they take sample out of my stomach. I'm super nervous about the liquid diet it's two weeks through…

My Three Year Post
Yesterday was my three year anniversary on MFP. It is also three years from the orientation session for my Bariatric Program. It has been a momentous three years in my life, taking me from 425 pounds down to 240 pounds the first year, spending the second year trying to figure out maintenance, followed by this past year…

Gastric Bypass - 1 year later
For everyone - no matter where in this journey you are, I just had to share... Tomorrow marks my 1 year surgeversary date. It has been an emotional roller coaster to say the least. I contemplated not going through with surgery because of nerves and I had lost 37 pounds working with my nutritionist. I met people through my…

Vitamins
I'm looking into VSG and one of my mind hurdles is the ideas of taking vitamins for the rest of my life. Logically I know that in the grand scheme of things, daily vitamins versus medication for health related obesity issues should be a no brainer but it still irks me. Anyone go through the same thing?

Sleeved Dec. 20
Hello all. I was sleeved on Dec 20. Looking for a good support group to help me reach my goals.

Goodbye Hair :(
My entire adult life, I've had very thin, very fine hair. Basically, I don't have even a strand of hair to spare. I've been fanatical about getting enough protein and taking my vitamins since my surgery 2.5 months ago, but I'm afraid I'm losing hair anyway. I haven't noticed much coming out, but like I said, I wouldn't…

Things to know before surgery?
Is there anything that you wish someone had told you before surgery? Do you have any tips to prepare for it, or have any advice for recovery? Thanks for your replies

Air Fryer vs baking
Good Morning! Curious to know if anyone has used an air fryer and what you thought of it vs baking? Did your food come out crispier? Reason I ask is because Bariatric Eating posted an air fried chicken nugget that can also be baked and we don't fry at home but if an air fryer gets stuff more crispy I may invest in one.…

Gastric Bypass scheduled for June/July
Hi everyone, I'm looking for friends who are in the prepping stages of surgery, or have recently had the surgery.

Does ayone regret getting sleeved?
Please be honest... I have been doing my monthly appointments at the bariatric clinic since last July and yesterday was my 2nd appointment with the surgeon to decided if we are or are not going ahead with surgery. We decided yes, so now I am waiting for the call on a surgery date. I have already lost all my pre op weight…

Stall pattern
Is there a general pattern to stalls? Seems everyone had one at around 3 weeks. I seem to lose 7-12 pounds then stall. I have bounced +/-2 for a week and a half. I know I'm following the plan and intellectually I know it will happen on my body's natural cycle but dang it's frustrating.

Anyone ever do Bodypump?
My gym canceled my Thursday spin class so now I just have my trainer but that's once a week at a different facility. I do spin in the most amazing spin bikes (they move), but the unlimited monthly pass is expensive-- and that plus what I pay a month to train with my trainer 1x/week leads to over $300/mo. Currently I am at…

Hello Onederland
It became official on April 8, 2017. I weighed in at 198.6lbs! I cannot even remember a time where I weighed less than 200lbs. It is one of the most important milestones for me on this journey. Losing an even 100lbs is within sight. I've got this!

Insurance approval wait time
I finished my last counseling session today. She sending my letter into the nurse practitioner to say I completed counseling on Wednesday morning. Then my paperwork should be turned in by Friday. I'm just wondering what the average wait time is for insurance approval once they have all your paperwork? Or about how long you…

Weight Loss Pattern.... Time.
Let me start by saying I am NOT complaining. But I was just reading the post about stalls... and I too know they are so very real... I had a 10 day stall that felt as if I had been stalled for at least a month. (It must be that daily weigher syndrome!) Anyway... My question to everyone is this: knowing that everyone loses…

Anyone else taking Dexilant?
Despite having gastric bypass, I'm still having symptoms of "silent" reflux and advancement of Barrett's Esophagus. The GI doctor has put me on Dexilant to see if I can get some improvement in my symptoms but I am having some bathroom issues and I feel like it is causing me to gain weight. Does anyone else have any…

Getting an ultrasound to determine if I need gallbladder removed - 5 months postop vsg
Tomorrow I am having an ultrasound to determine if I need my gallbladder removed. I have been having painful attacks which I believe are gallbladder attacks off and on since surgery. At first I thought it was just my sleeve healing. Anywho, I am going to have the surgery in Mexico like I did for my sleeve. My question is,…

Substitue for Bread
Hi VSGers, I'm looking for some variety in my lunch routine. I read this blog where the writer often has this veggie sandwich for lunch. It looks so good each time I see her post about it, but I know the bread won't work for me. What would you use in place of the bread if you were to make this sandwich? FYI: The sandwich…

VSG tomorrow
Hi guys, my VSG is scheduled for tomorrow. I am excited and nervous. On top of that, we're expecting 2 feet of snow! Has anyone had their surgery rescheduled due to weather? I am ready for it to be done tomorrow I don't want to have to wait several more weeks!

new here, question about macros
Hi all, I'm 1 month post, and the weight loss has slowed, to 2ish pounds a week. (I loved how fast it came off at the beginning but I wish it would keep going) How many calories are you eating a day? How many grams of protein/carbs/fat per day? Thanks!

Ever eat something then regret it?
Thought I would check in to see if anyone has eaten something post op and then regretted it? After the WLS post op diet is done and you transition back to all foods, have you eaten something you regretted? Maybe tested your limits? Last night, my husband wanted Baskin Robbins Gold Medal Ribbon. I had a half a scoop and…

Sugar and Weight Loss
Towards the end of last year I gained a few pounds during a bout with shingles. So over the past couple months I've cut down my consumption of sugar dramatically. Doing that and exercising regularly again has gotten me into the best shape of my adult life. I'm curious if others have tried cutting out sugar and how that…
