Almost Through Pre-Op Certification
All I have left is the psych consult and the clearence from my PCP. He is procrastinating giving it to me. He is not a believer in the surgery. I won't/can't change my mind on this. Right now it is also coming up with the last bit if funds to get everything done. It is expensive trying to get healthy. Maybe I should get on…

I hit my goal --- now what?
Hooray!! I hit my goal today. (I'm 5'9" and 150 pounds; RNY bypass surgery August 7, 2012.) So, what does that mean regarding calories? My weight loss doctor is of no help whatsoever. All he told me was to make sure I get my protein in. My family doctor thinks I've lost too much, but she defers to my surgeon. I am…

I have spoken to one of my nurses on my team and they are unable to tell me what's going on until they get my next set of labs which isn't until July... in the mean time I wanted to ask fellow post-ops if they have seen or heard of anything like this. In the last week or so I have begun developing dark spots (look like age…

Hi, I am happy to join you
I'm new to this group. I had a sleeve done April 26th and am 12 pounds down in 12 days. I had a conversion from a lapband, but the band failed and I decided to convert it rather than just take it out. I am glad to have found this group and look forward to sharing ideas and encouragement with all of you. Jeanne

Surgery Veterans: a question
I had the lapband in December 2011 and I am within 20 pounds of my goal. For those who have reached their goal (congrats!) I'm wondering how many have had some or all of the fluid removed from their band. On one hand, I'm a little afraid of regaining weight if I remove my restriction entirely. On the other hand, I have…

Size vs. Weight
I currently am 167.8 lbs, size 8, running 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. What I am finding odd about this is my size. I understand that weight shifts as you get older, but I really am having a hard time wrapping my head around wearing such a small size and still weighing a good bit for a gal who is 5'2". The last time I wore a…

New to forum - Post Roux-en-y (almost 9 years)
Hi everyone! My name is Beth. I had gastric bypass surgery back in '04. Minus some stupid mistakes (like trying to "puree" my food by chewing it [with what I thought was] well. I ended up in the hospital with what was most likely an obstruction. I was only 10 (?) days post surgery and at a party, so the temptation was…
