Got My Date...
The surgeon's office just called and I am now scheduled for my RNY on July 16th. I am nervous and excited. I called my husband to let him know and he is not thrilled. I think, actually pretty much know, that he was hoping that I would get denied by insurance and that this whole weight loss thing was going to go away. This…

How did you decide which procedure?
My question is how you arrived at a decision on lapband vs bypass vs sleeve vs RNY? I'm on the 'medical managed weight loss' path to meet insurance requirements before I can get approval for surgery so I haven't even met with the surgeon yet. I've been assuming that the doctor would direct me to the procedure that's right…

Question about pre-op diet
I just got the approval from my insurance so I should have a surgery date very soon. I'm a little concerned about the 2 week liver shrink diet prior to surgery. I have some slim fast and compared the calories of that to a bowl of special k w/2% milk, and the cereal was lower in calories. What my question is, is should the…

cravings/binging
I received my surgery date last week - I will be sleeved on 7/1 and begin my 2 week liver reduction diet on Monday. The problem I am having right now is that I am having serious cravings and have been doing a little too much overeating. I know it is just psychological, and that next week I will be ok. I was just wondering…

Finally posting my 9month photo
Actually it is a before and after comparison, and it was taken at 8 months, but it definitely shows a huge change!

6 month update
So I just met with my nut, and my surgeon and they are thrilled with my progress! I am down 97 pounds total, have gone from a BMI of 52 to a BMI of 39, not longer have diabetes, have great cholesterol, LDL, and HDL results, plus my iron, vitamin D and b12 are all in the normal range given the supplements I am taking! Woot!…

Hungry every two hours
I'm 11 years post op and I'm hungry every two hours. I spoke with a dietitian and she said that it is normal and it shows that the surgery is still working. My total weight loss was 124 pounds and I have kept off 114 but I so want to get the other 10 off and I find it impossible with the hunger. Does anyone else have this…

Got my surgery date. OMGosh!
My Doc office called and scheduled my surgery for 6/26. A few days later I received another call saying they were moving the surgery UP to 6/19. It's really happening. A week from tomorrow I will be in the hospital to be sleeved.

BodyMedia...Does it work for us?
Hey guys, I have a fitbit right now and like it, but don't love it. I am considering switching to a BodyMedia armband, but am wondering about whether or not I can configure it for RNY calorie goals. I know that I don't eat as much as they would suggest given my exercise, but there is no way that I could consume tons of…

New type of exercise for me.
So I have wanted to get a bicycle since I had my surgery 9 months ago and start riding. I put it off in the fall because it was just going to be too cold, and then of course in the winter it WAS too cold... Then we had some family medical issues in the early spring. BUT I finally am getting my bike this week! I am SO…

NSV Walk
So as many of you know, I am a teacher. Every year, my school does a walk/race for the students sometime in May/June. The students can choose to run or walk a short one mile or the longer 5K course. I have NEVER, not in the five years I have been a teacher here participated in either event, but instead have chosen to stay…

Pregnancy Post-Op Questions
I had my gastric bypass surgery (RNY) in December... I have lost over 120 pounds if you combine my pre-op and post-op loss, and I am ready to have another baby! I set a goal for myself to get into a "normal" BMI before I get pregnant again as I has gestational diabetes with my first some who was born in July 2012, so I…

Post bi-pass...Pain
For about the last week I have had extreme pain around my lower rib cage across my upper abdomen. It gets so intense at times I can't stand straight. It usually comes with nausea. I do feel slight nausea most of the time for the past week as well. I have also been getting acid reflux frequently, I have not had this since…

Last week I officially hit 9 months post op - I am down 123lbs - weight loss has slowed a bit lately but I am pushing along, not to mention I recently had to have some (unrelated) surgery. My goal is to loose at least another 40lbs but would ultimately like to loose another 80lbs. ] [/URL] -123lbs 69.25 inches 7-8 pants…

I'm Normal
I reached a couple of goals in this week's weigh-in. I hit Onderland, 199 pounds, which at 6"3" also put me into the "normal" BMI range, at 24.9. I don't think I've been this weight since my sophomore year of High School, some 35 years ago. I've already gone past my surgeon's goal of 250, and my own goal of 225, so…

I am stuck....
Hi. I had RNY in May of 2006 and went from 265 to 135. My goal weight was 150 and the 135 was just TOO low. When you can see the bones in your chest and down your back, it's just too much. I needed to get back up to 150 and a comfortable size 8. Well, it seems my weight had crept up to 177 and I need to get back on track.…

Weird NSV... kind of?
NSV... sort of.... As I was going to sit down at the dinner table tonight, I bumped my hip against the table top. I do this often when sliding into my chair, but this time it actually hit my hip bone and HURT! I sat there for a bit cradling my poor hip trying to figure out this new strange pain. Mind you, I don't have like…

Post RNY question
I am now one week post RNY. Everyone warned me that I would become extremely lethargic. I have now hit that wall and omg I feel awful. I barely have the energy to get up and go to the bathroom. It's really hard to motivate myself to get my fluids, but I'm drinking my water and small amounts of protein every day (it's all I…

Hello, My name is Crystal and I'm 35 years. I had gastric bypass on 04/08/2013. I was 278 the day of surgery and now i'm 247. I'm having a hard time with getting enough protein. I have not lost anymore weight. The scale is not moving anymore and it has been a couple of weeks. I just started to exercise( just walking for…
