C25K Start (again)
I'm looking at beginning the C25K program (retry). Does anyone have any tips on the best way to start? Track, treadmill, road? Would it matter how the walk/run combo occurs, i.e. switching between the three? I like mixing up my routines, so don't always use the same tools and exercises.

Start ing C25K
Haven't ran since High School (Freshman or Sophomore year, 10 to 12 years ago) I downloaded an iPhone app but I am hesitant to start because of the temperature here in rural Alaska warmed up lots to 20 degrees  YES 20 degrees is warm in Alaska when spring comes around. I was wondering if I should order "sweats"…

New to C25K
Hi there! i just started C25K today!! i generally HATE running but read so many stories of people like me who can now run marathons, so it really made me wonder.. :) i have the iPhone app and i loved it, although i wish it would let me know when its half-way done or so, so i know when to turn around and head back home. but…

Putting C25K on hold
Here's the deal, I bought Insanity like 2 years ago. Then, I started the program only to stop a few days into it. This is sad, but we were living in a very old house with wooden floors, and I was afraid I was going to damage the structure of the house with all the jumping around (true story).:blushing: But, now I live in a…

Re-started and backed up to week 3
So I fell out of running for a bit because my running partner had some medical issues and we would take turn watching each others kids but yesterday I restarted and backed up to week 3 after a month off, I was pleased that I was able to get back I into it without having to completly start over, it didn't kill me and I went…

I'm a wee bit nervous about the 5min runs however for the past week I have been doing my run and than doing a 10min "fun run" that the app has also and I can run for 10mins so I guess I should be to scared of it right? What was your experience? How about time are you…

Where y'all at?
Is everyone still at it? Not a lot of posting going on in this group lately. I finished week 5 day 2 today. I feel great. I was worried about the 8 minute runs on this day, but I made it through without too much trouble. Now, I'm nervous about the 20 minute run coming up next time, but I feel sure I can do it. I'm getting…

Sopsongbird's Week 1 Thoughts
I completed W1D3 today and can honestly say that I can feel a difference! My breathing has become more controlled and my energy to continue jogging has increased. I was able to raise the mph on the treadmill from 4.0 to 4.5 and the walking from 3.0 to 3.3. I have a pain in my left foot that I know is caused by an…

water?
So, I'm on week 7; and I'm finding that I am SO parched during my runs. Today it got to the point where I was really nauseated and had to stop a minute and a half early. I'm going to try hydrating better throughout the day because I read that for distances under 5k water isn't necessary, but I felt so miserable today that…

Running/walking during a 5k run
This may seem like a dumb question, but frankly, I'm totally clueless as to the "rules" of a 5k run. :embarassed: I'm tempted to sign up for a run that is on August 5th, however I'm only going to be starting week 6 of the C25K, and I don't know if I'm going to be up for running that distance at that time. Is it…

Just Beginning
Hey all! I joined MFP a few months ago, but started tracking last week. Lost 10lbs! Water weight? Probably. Still excited? OH YES!!! I have a back story that explains why I want to run. In April 2011, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I was 23 (24 now). I went through chemotherapy only and was placed into remission…

week 4
I am having a TERRIBLE time this week! Every run up until now has been very, very doable. Challenging, but not nearly to the point where I need to stop. But this week has just been killer. I finished day 2 this evening, but I had to take a couple of extra short walking breaks. I'll give myself one more shot, but unless it…

Week 5!
This is it, y'all! :drinker: If you're using the same variation of C25K as me, this is the week with the first substantial run. I had a ton of difficulty with week 4, so much so that I almost repeated it. Just for kicks, I gave day 1 of week 5 a try this morning... and I ROCKED it! All of the the 5 minute runs were so easy…

Anyone signed up for an "official" 5K run?
I just signed up for a 5K in my neighborhood on Sept. 8. I'll be finished the 9 week training by then so I should be good to go. I also have a 10K penciled in on my calendar on Nov. 4. Anyone else have a 5K date circled on their calendar?

Not been running at all...
this is because in the past week I've been having trouble just walking. I can't believe how unfit I have let myself become. I feel like I've let this group down and just wanted to apologise as I have joined a running group and have not been running, and that's not very supportive at all! On a happy note, I have been trying…

Completed my 9 week training... what I've learned
So, my C25K app is over, and I have about 2 weeks before my first 5K and another month and 1/2 for the "big" one. Here are some thoughts and advice I had for friends on FB so far. What would you add to this list? 9 Things I’ve Learned in 9 Weeks of Running: 1) Start easy. Do a walk/jog combo or even just start with…

Mini Goals- Tell us yours :-)
I thought I would post a thread for some mini goals, once you've reached one quote yourself and update your goal. I was looking at my weight loss in a whole and started feeling a little overwhelmed but setting mini goals (scale or non scale) can really help. I mixed in scale and non scale goals in no specific order.. whats…

Week 2 Day 3 soo happy!!
So yesterday I completed week 2 a little slower than the 3days because of the holiday my routine got jacked up. I know moved my run days to Tues, Thurs, Sat this will help keep me accountable on Friday nights and make sure I dont go out and blow my whole not drinking pact I made to myself. I was a little peeved at week 2…

Sore hips
Hi all, I just did week 3 day 2 today and even though I thought I would have a tough time with 3 minutes running, it's been alright. EXCEPT for the extreme tightness in my hips when I am done. Yes, I do the warm up and cool down...no I'm not running especially fast (approx 9 min kilometre), yes, I stretch after, and my…
