  • No news from tech support. I will mention that my adjustments have been correct for the past 2-3 days, but I see the issue is still ongoing for others -- which means it will probably stop working for me again too. It's been happening intermittently for over a month, so every time I dare hope that it's fixed, it just screws…
  • Fitbit's TDEE less 500 calories will be more accurate until such time as the MFP bug is fixed. However, that will only be accurate retroactively (i.e. after the full day).
  • I have been having this problem on and off since December. See this thread: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10313526/getting-multiple-calorie-adjustments-per-day#latest
  • My sync errors have been going on for weeks now.
  • So far, mine has been accurate yesterday and today. But the bugs have been going on for weeks. So I hope I didn't just jinx it by posting this.
  • Seen it but it doesn't seem to have identified the issue correctly. I'm seeing the adjustments. They're just incorrect.
  • I'm using the website exclusively. Not the phone app at all. And I've been getting these issues.
  • Yes, it's definitely a bug. I'm having the same issue. MFP hasn't publicly acknowledged it. But I did get an email from tech support yesterday saying they're aware of it and working on a fix.
  • I think it's clear that it's acting up for most people at the moment. I hope tech support is working on a fix.
  • After weeks of back and forth with MFP tech support, sending screenshots and jumping through hoops, I finally FINALLY got the following response today: Let's hope that now that they're aware of the bug, there might be a fix for it soon.
  • The point is, it's really personal preference. If you set it to sedentary, you can pretty much guarantee that you'll never have fewer calories than you've planned to eat. On the other hand, you could be left with a pretty big evening adjustment upwards, which could mean having a bunch of calories to spare. If you're the…
  • Who are you responding to? @Iknewyouweretrouble ? Or me? I know how the syncing is supposed to work, thanks very much. I also know that what I'm experiencing is a bug, not a feature.
  • Tech support actually got back to me, and asked me to disconnect and reconnect my apps. I did that. And for a day or so I thought it was going to be okay. But now the same problem is happening again. This is driving me nuts. I might just disconnect them altogether and adjust manually, since I'm pretty much having to do…
  • Some people prefer to just set it to sedentary, yeah. I think that works fine if you have a desk job and want to make sure that you won't see negative calorie adjustments. I prefer to set MFP to lightly active, because, from experience, I know I tend to burn at least that many calories every day. I like to pre-plan my…
  • The other place you can see it is by going to your exercise diary on MFP and clicking the little info icon next to the Fitbit Calorie Adjustment. You should see a pop-in like this: The first number (in the above example, 1643) is the number of calories Fitbit says I'll burn today. This number will update multiple times…
  • The amount MFP assumes you'll burn in a day depends on your height, weight, age, gender, and the activity level you input. There used to be a spot on the "goals" section where it would explicitly show you this number. That seems to have been removed, but you can figure it out easily by taking the base calories that MFP…
  • I went from a Flex to a Charge HR. My thoughts: Pros (of Charge HR):* HR monitoring is a nice feature. * Automatic sleep tracking is convenient (though I understand there's a Flex update that allows that now too?) * Calories seem slightly lower than what Flex gave me, compared head-to-head. I think the lower number is a…
  • I think you're confusing total burn with exercise burn. Whatever you state on your MFP profile as your goal for exercise (e.g. 2 times per week) is totally irrelevant and isn't factored in by MFP or Fitbit in any calculations. You can leave that blank. What Fitbit is measuring is your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure)…
  • Okay, let me see if I can break it down for you. If you set up MyFitnessPal to lose, say, 1 pound per week, that will calculate how much it assumes you will burn at your daily activity level (e.g. "lightly active") and then calculate a 1lb/week deficit from that, which assumes a 3500 calorie deficit per week. So, let's say…
  • Yeah, unsync the two apps. Keep the steps record in Fitbit alone. The whole point of sycning them is to enable automatic calorie adjustments. If you don't want that, then unlink them. However, when you say it's "counterproductive", be aware that eating too little is also counterproductive. The way MFP is set up, you…
  • This doesn't appear to be the same issue. No time zone changes here, and no manual activity logging. This is just something that seems to happen every couple of days when Fitbit syncs to MFP.
  • I'm still having this problem. I can go delete the offending entries, but it keeps happening and it's defeating the whole purpose of syncing. @BarbieAS or anyone else still having the same issue, could you please log a bug report with MFP tech support? I think they'll take it more seriously if they see multiple people…
  • I'm having the same problem with my Charge HR. Seems to be an ongoing bug that's been happening for weeks. It's driving me crazy because it's not consistent, either -- some days I get a double adjustment, some days I get one correct adjustment and multiple zero or non-zero other adjustments at random. I have to go in and…
  • I'd love it if the Misfit product designs came with the Fitbit interface and ecosystem. Best of both worlds.
  • Because that's not how sync works. It's not giving you calories from a specific type of exercise. It's giving you calories based on the projection for how many calories you'll burn in the course of the day. And comparing them to the calories that you set in MFP based on your activity level. So, let's say it's noon and you…
  • As others have said, your body burns calories just by being alive. Even if you were in a coma, you'd still consume a certain number of calories each day. That's called your BMR. Mine at 5'1" / 107 is just under 1200, so if I sleep for 8 hours I will "burn" 400 calories from sleeping. The total amount of calories you burn…
  • More isn't more, in this case. You get diminishing returns from additional walking, beyond a certain point. I've never seen the point of challenges -- I'm not competing with anyone, just wanting to stay active and make sure I'm not eating over my TDEE.
  • Any tracker you wear is only ever an algorithm estimating, and can't directly measure calorie burn. So it's gonna be a guess. I had a Flex for a while. Now I have a Charge HR. The calories I get from the Charge HR are about 100/day lower than what I got from the Flex for the same activity at the same time. (I even wore…
  • Looks like the market was underwhelmed by the Blaze, too: Fitbit's stock dropped 18% in the wake of the product announcement. http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-35238645
