  • starting today and I am excited to see if I can do it. Carbs and sugars have always been a struggle for me. Wish me luck!
  • The great thing about MFP is that it allows you to track your foods and for me that keeps me accountable. The way I figure it is that if I go over sugars from apples and cherries I am so much better off than going over calories from fast food and junk food. If you keep your calories under you are doing awesome. Best of…
  • To fit in my nice suit again.
  • Christine, he was sleeping through the night wonderfully but he had to have a surgery and he had a catheter in for 10 days along with stitches and pain meds it just seemed to throw him off. he is getting better sleep by the night but still a challenge.
  • Thanks everyone for the advice. It has been and awesome year and I am truly blessed but just got so caught up in everything that is going on around me that I forgot to make time for myself. I started making chicken, salads and veggies ahead of time about two weeks ago and that has been helping. will definitely try the…
  • It does work, I was in the same spot about a month ago and was ready to give up. I decided to buy a food scale and sure enough, the weight has been steadily coming off. Great job on doing something outside of your comfort zone and continuing to make progress.
  • This is exactly what I was thinking, almost word for word. I have been at it for 16 weeks and have lost right around 15 lbs. in the past, if in that time frame I hadn't lost 30 - 40 pounds I would have given up and stopped at the first heart attack shack and crushed 3 double burgers and a small fry. This time around though…
  • I hate to say it, but Nuke_64 is correct. This really isn't the website where you will get support for crazy fad diets and super detox cleanse claims. Sounds like you already invested the money so I do wish you luck but moving forward I would recommend eating less and moving more. As someone who has struggled with weight…
  • just wanted to say thanks for the advice from those that contributed. I took it easy and walked a little more and focused on some upper body strength training. tried some push ups about a week and a half ago and could still feel some tightness in my groin. I have been doing the recommended stretches and "rehab" if you will…
  • really like my Flex mostly due to being very competitive and when there is a goal in something I need to hit it. 11,000 steps per day not that difficult if you make a conscious effort to get up and move more throughout the day.
  • I just finished a 101.4 oz jug. started at 6 am. Needed to rehydrate after a soccer tournament in the heat this weekend where we were in the sun all day. Usually right around 100 - 120.
  • it's a losing battle. I get a hard time everyday for eating chicken and veggies at work and then today I was questioned for getting Jimmy John's "are you going to eat that"? I just shake it off but I would love to say eat whatever the hell I want when I want to and no I don't think that my tuna sandwich on wheat is going…
  • Inspiring, I have been a little nervous about the upcoming holiday as holidays and special events have always been my worst eating / drinking days. I will keep this in mind and commit to making smarter choices / being conscious of my food and drink choices instead of just calling it a wash and eating as much as possible…
  • I bought a food scale a couple weeks ago after having "logging issues" and can definitely say that I was unknowingly overeating due to not weighing my food. If you are gone from the house all day can you pre-weigh all of your meals for the day and take them with you?

  • Don't do it. They are hype like so many other quick fix products. I know you said you don't view it as a fix but they won't provide any benefit IMO. if I feel I need a little extra I drink a cup of coffee an hour or so before I workout. I also dumped my "preWorkout", they stuff is bad news too.
  • @RebeccaD22 Thanks, that little boy is a lot of my motivation to succeed. good luck with everything!

  • MapMyRun is always high, I figure I burn about half of what they say.
  • contact tech support.
  • I'll second the MapMyRun app suggestion. If the GPS keeps the signal I prefer it because it will also show you elevation changes. As for me, the calories always seem extremely high but I (like you) am not tracking to get calories back. I stay motivated when I can see what I have done and accomplished.

  • thanks everybody. I think I will just take it easy and do some light walking and upper body work and focus on eating great for 3 weeks until I can get back at it on the field and exercising regularly.
  • my boss tells me that I am going to get sick from eating food that was prepped ahead of time... I told him and another coworker that I used to get sick from eating fast food everyday and I will live with the consequences of my own actions. They haven't said much since other than constantly asking me if I want to go grab…
  • yes, I have still been getting about 10,500 to 11,000 steps per day.
  • I will do my best at these. I hurt my groin playing soccer Sunday so I might have to shut it down if it tightens up again.
  • I ate a half a bag of Crispy M&M's Monday night. Yea, it sucks to waste the calories but sitting around feeling guilty about what you eat is a problem. Food is fuel and your body needs it. Rybo is spot on and alot of people need to reevaluate the way they look at food. Every meal is a choice. There are definitely times I…
  • I just bought one from Target yesterday. Taylor digital glass top food scale. 11 lb capacity, lbs., oz and gram with a tare function for $24.99. Uses AAA batteries so I don't have to find a CR232000001.5 battery at the store when it needs replaced.
  • I went to Target after work and bought the Taylor Glass Top Digital Food Scale up to 11 lbs. Seems to work great so far and I was definitely underestimating the weight of the food I was eating. For example, I thought my chicken breast this morning would weigh 6 ounces and it was 7.4 oz. Thank you all for the help.
  • Thanks, I think I will swing by Wal-Mart or Target on my way home and see if I can find one there. I am really just going to be using it to weight chicken breast, fruit and veggies.
  • Breakfast gets this crazy hype because a lot of people (myself included) feel very hungry later in the day and overeat if they skip breakfast leading to a calorie surplus at the end of the day. I am no scientist and there are some convincing studies that say that breakfast will get your metabolism going earlier in the day.…
  • Cassandra, Thanks for the info. Does it seem to be fairly accurate at this point?
  • This will do nothing to better yourself. Do yourself a favor and eat at a calorie deficit and you will lose weight. The exercise is more of a mental thing for me. I like that I am building muscle and the extra calories it burns. This is almost as bad as the questions about losing some crazy amount of weight in 3 weeks for…
