  • I carry a 1 litre flask around with me. It keeps my water cool all day, and I know I've had an adequate amount (for me) when I've had at least 2 litres. I also use the plant nanny app, which reminds me to drink, and gives me a cute virtual plant to nurture. In my case, I have to drink at least 2L even when I'm not thirsty…
  • I gave up all animal products (meat, dairy, eggs, honey, beeswax etc.) due to ethical reasons, but I did enjoy them before. Luckily I have found versions I like equally or more that don't contain animal products. I've given up most heavily processed foods. Even though I like the taste, they make me feel so rubbish…
  • You can get access to a dietitian through the NHS. You will have to have a proper diagnosis of IBS (or other digestive issue) through your GP first, or be obese/morbidly obese. You can then ask for a dietitian referral. Some GP's are happy to refer straight away, others are reluctant. If you're getting on well with the…
  • My favourite is pesto or hummus (or both) with grilled peppers, artichokes, baby plum tomatoes and spinach. I occasionally add baked tofu.
  • I make a chocolate mousse type thing that everyone who had tried it has loved. Recipe for 4 small or 2 large portions: 1 block of silken tofu (it HAS to be silken, firmer tofus won't work) 100g good quality dark chocolate 3-4 tbsp maple syrup (or other liquid sweetener) Pinch of sea salt any other flavourings you want…
  • I blend 30g of silken tofu with a frozen banana and 200g of another frozen fruit (berries, mango, etc.). It's 23g of protien per portion and 336 calories. The texture is between a yogurt and a soft serve ice cream.
  • I'm in the UK too, and loving trying all the new vegan products that are coming onto the market  I post pictures of my food on instagram, and I've had people I know say things like "I didn't know you could eat normal/proper/nice food if you were vegan!" after they see my pictures (usually they don't know anyone else…
  • I have been vegan for five months now, and before that I spent a couple of months transitioning from being omnivorous (learned new recipes, how to make things I enjoy but in a vegan version, cutting out animal products bit by bit). I've actually noticed that my energy levels have been a lot more stable since changing my…
  • You seem to be a bit confused about what "holistic" actually means. The definition is "dealing with or treating the whole of something or someone and not just a part". There is no pseudoscience involved with treating people holistically, it's not the same as homeopathy. All MD's and RGN's are now taught to treat their…
  • A person who uses or consumes animal products, in food, clothing, cosmetics etc. when avoidable is not a vegan. The definition of veganism, as stated by The Vegan Society, who created the term and defined the philosophy is "Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms…
  • It probably won't really matter for weight loss, but can matter for other health factors. The World Health Organisation Expert Report on diet and chronic disease recommends that around 10-15% of calories come from protein, 15-30% of calories come from fat and 55-75% of calories come from carbohydrates. There's nothing…
  • If you eat dairy products, fish and eggs then your diet is not vegan, maybe you mean plant-based? If you are trying to be vegan then I can recommend several recipes which, in my opinion, are yummy and filling. However, there is no need to go low fat or vegan just to try and lose weight. You can still eat the things you…
  • I'm in Lincoln/Nottingham. Anyone feel free to add me :)
  • This is a soft-boiled chicken egg. To make one, you can either cook in already boiled water for 3.5(for a medium egg)-4 minutes(for a large egg), or start with cold water and boil for 6-7 minutes. The egg should be covered by at least half an inch of water :)
  • Hey, i'm 20, from Nottingham, and I'm on 1200 calories a day at the moment. I'm short too (5'0"), so I definitely understand! Add me if you like :)
  • Hey, I'm 20 and I'm starting my nursing degree in September. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is trying to maintain my weight loss and healthy eating while doing 37.5 hours a week + self study! Add me if you like :)
  • Hey, I'm from Nottingham, and also looking for some UK friends :) Trying to lose 40lbs!
  • Personally, I tend to plan my meals in advance, logging them before I've even eaten. I find it helps me to stick to my calories better. I also leave 100-200 calories spare just in case I want to eat something I haven't planned for :)
  • I'm also aiming to lose 40lbs, add me if you like :)
