Congrats on the cutdown of cokes! Thats just the forst step which makes it easier for the body to lose weoight once you cut calories. Its all about calories in calories out. Exercise is very important too. Lets do this!

You’re on the right path. Do it imperfectly if you have to. At least get a “D” in this, you don’t always have to have an “A”. Consistency is key.

I don’t know all the factors involved with your situation but I wouldn’t be TOO worried about the 5 day thing. Does he have you doing any cardio? What are your goals? Weight loss? To gain muscle?

Yes, working out helps to create a caloric deficit. Lots of people do that plus create another caloric deficit by eating less calories. It's more bang for your buck. Just make sure you eat enough calories.
