  • That's not a bad idea. I have a tendency to eat lunch and breakfast on the go, as an afterthought. I'm a little addicted to the low sugar kind bars, lol. Reasonable calories, carbs, sugar and fiber... But you're right, they shouldn't take the place of so many meals
  • Yes, thank you. My mom is helping me look into other doctors in the area that may be less inclined to immediately judge. I plan on going shortly, because I really do want answers.
  • It's definitely bizarre and I'm not just making excuses. My boyfriend is worried about me dying, that's how bad it is. Sometimes he yells at me to go back to the doctor because he losses weight eating double what I eat and the same foods. We live together and he is also 5'4... A man, but about the same height. In the 12…
  • It was borderline low, iirc - bear with me, because it was like 12 years ago. But it stood out in my mind like a sore thumb, because I was always worried as to what it could mean.
  • I really wish, but because I've moved a lot in the last 5 years - Tennessee to Minnesota, to Michigan, to California, back to Tennessee - I never kept a general practitioner. My last steady doctor was actually in the same clinic I'm at now, but they no longer had my records and had to re-establish me as a patient. My whole…
  • I was always too scared and upset over the situation to even go to a follow up appointment - it was a full year before I even saw a gynecologist, though I was honest with her about the situation so she could she if anything was wrong. I think I may just need that second opinion after all. I hate to feel so discouraged...…
  • That is a very good point. I am a very very passive person - and I get shy quickly. Maybe I just need to be assertive and explain exactly what's going on, instead of saying "maybe, sort of, I'm worried."
  • No - to be honest, I did not go into specifics as to why I thought my thyroid may be off. The reason I suspected it was because a loooong time ago when I was a very active dancer/cheerleader in high school, I tested having a low thyroid. I was underweight regardless, due to extreme activity, and the doctor opted to do…
  • Alright, let me answer as much as I can :) @mamapeach910 I'm pretty sure I'm accurate. I have a digital food scale, and I measure in grams to be as certain as I possibly can. Nothing goes unrecorded except water and tea. If I'm out and can't measure, I throw out a few bites in case of overweight products. I would have…
  • Not meaning to disrespect anyone yelling CICO, but I maintained a weight of 120 pounds until this year, and I eat approximately 1000-1600 calories every single day. And I weigh everything :) And I think something else is being misconstrued - just because I weigh MYSELF daily doesn't mean I've given this "a day." I've tried…
  • @‌ignatca Maybe that's what I need - a dietitian. I'm just so at a loss as to what to do. I tried low carb high fat with no results this summer, so now I'm trying lower carb (not drastic like before) with more plant based foods. I just don't even know what else to do. @PRminx - I try not to eat over my calories unless I'm…
  • It may also be worth noting that I drink, on average, 200+ ounces of water a day, plus a cup of coffee and a cup of tea. My boyfriend thinks overconsumption of water may be part of the issue - high water retention. I don't know if that's possible, but when I started low carb, I started trying to limit my water to 100-128…
  • @thesatinpumpkin You look amazing!!! Really awesome.
  • I live for coffee. One to two cups (max) in the morning with full fat organic half and half. It's the high point in my day, especially when my love wakes up and drinks it with me. LOL
  • Yes! Ham, prosciutto, salami - all of these get pretty crispy baked :) - ETA: Nothing wrong with the peppers though!
  • I am in the exact same boat OP - trying really hard and seeing zero progress. I'm shifting to lower carb now, hoping to see a change. I really stuggle because, like you, I know I have weight to lose, but nothing seems to come off. I'm offer you encouragement, not advice, since I can't seem to figure it out either. It's…
  • I eat a lot of the normal culprits - broccoli, kale, bok choy (regular and baby), spinach, zucchini, yellow squash, asparagus, cauliflower, peppers (EVERYTHING - thai chile peppers, jalapenos, bell peppers), tomatoes. Most of the time, dinner is a stirfry or roasted veggies with roasted meat. Once in while, I'll do stuffed…
  • To play devil's advocate, my family has a history of blood sugar issues and diabetes. If you have higher than average blood sugar levels, low carb can actually help a lot. If you do not create as much insulin, your body will not store as much excess fat. As someone who can't seem to lose weight on a healthy, calories…
  • I am trying a modified low carb diet, as I simply was not seeing results on a healthy, organic low calorie diet and continuing to gain - which made me frustrated enough to get some stupid fast food the other week. I reevaluated and decided to try something different... Excited to see if it helps!
  • This drives me crazy - and proves, as always, that you should measure your food, not rely on packaging estimates. I've worked for food manufacturing companies before, and while all underweight packages blow off, many times nothing is considered "overweight" until it's an upwards of 20% over the label. Even weighing isn't…
  • Yes exactly. I'm thinking "healthy" food cravings. I get them a lot... One week, I can't get enough carrots. Another, suddenly I develop an inkling for a can of tuna that I just can't shake. Some nights, all I want is kale. And most recently, my body is just screaming at me for almonds!
  • Awesome input guys! This is one question I'm always so curious about. I agree @flailx - I do think we condition our cravings sometimes. I drink too much water (gasp) - but honestly sometimes 200-250 ounces in a day. I know i am not necessarily always that thirsty but I must condition myself that if my mouth is even an…
  • All good suggestions! Hopefully not pregnant, lol, at least not trying :) Calcium is something I know I don't eat 100% of ever, because I have to try to eat dairy - for example, cheese isn't something I ever crave. More than a smallish portion makes me overly full in an uncomfortable way. It's so funny how our bodies work…
  • That does make sense. I also adore coffee with just cream with a passion, which I never loved before. I may just be getting older and wiser! Possibly! I do get dietary fat but maybe it's the hunger reducing properties I crave! Thanks for the input guys!!
  • 5'2", ultimate goal of 108-118.
  • When I have my period When I *have* my period (not PMS), the only thing that controls my cramps is a high fat diet. This weekend, I had more ground pork with rice than I care to admit, all because I could hardly move and needed dietary fat.
  • Do you find ricing cauliflower to be satisfying? I've never tried it, but we eat rice every meal. I've cut back to rice only at dinner and in small portions, but I feel like cauliflower might be a great solution. Heck, I might eat it when maintaining even, just to limit the arsenic! LOL
  • Kerrygold is the best!!!!
  • Lean proteins and lots of veggies, eat fruits but limit them, make sure grains are WHOLE grains and eaten sporadically. That's the best way to limit carbs and lower blood sugar. Fats are great, as long as they are healthy - just watch portion sizes. Dairy is fine, but too much upsets some people. Watch the added sugar -…
  • When I am nervous about introducing a vegetable I'm scared of or previously didn't love, I do it in a stir fry. Get used to a bit of it, mixed in - then slowly increase the amount. Now I love bok choy, for example.
