  • Thanks for adding me to the group. I am going to withdraw as I don't feel ready at this time to be able to participate fully. However, I hope that I may be able to in the future.
  • Sounds like fun. I'd like to read more about what's involved, so please sign me up.
  • I have checked my settings and it says the diary is set to public, but I have sent you a friend request in case that makes it easier to see. My dietician said I should follow the plan for 6-8 weeks initially before starting the reintroduction. Because you reintroduce in such a controlled way, you actually end up following…
  • I am currently following the low FODMAP plan. I started on August 10 and for 5 weeks had a respite from my symptoms. Like your husband, I have been tested for many things but with no clear diagnosis. My consultant believes my pain is related to a sluggish colon and IBS. Unfortunately since the 5-week point I have been…
  • Best wishes @sammiayva - it's horrible not knowing what's causing the pain, and that can be as worrying as the pain itself.
  • I'm following a low FODMAP plan at the moment, so all of my meals need to be home cooked to be sure of their contents. I typically make meals that take less than 30 minutes to prepare and cook, and I also use that time to make the lunches for the next day. This might be more effort than you want to make, but I was relying…
  • @WBB55 that's useful advice about concentrating on one thing at once. I've just spoken to my dietician about the pain I've had for the last week even while following the low FODMAP exclusion phase. He said that I need to be pain free for 4 weeks on the plan before reintroducing any foods, so that will extend my exclusion…
  • I'm sorry to hear that you are always in pain - I know what that feels like. I hope you can find some relief from dietary changes. My diary is open so if you want to look at the sort of days I've been having, feel free. I am hoping that by losing weight some of my pain will lessen as well.
  • I'm currently in the elimination phase of the low FODMAP plan. I've been following it for 6 weeks and have another 2 to go before I reintroduce the food groups to find out what my triggers are. For five weeks I was pain free but for the last week I have been suffering pain and constipation, which I am really annoyed about…
  • I'm currently following the exclusion part of the FODMAP plan. I'm in week 6 with 2 more weeks to go before reintroducing the various food groups. I have stuck to around 1500 cals a day and have lost around 7lbs since I started. For 4 of those weeks I've been pain free but for the last week have been having pains and some…
  • I think this is a really useful way to explain what is needed to lose a certain amount. But, @SueInAz, shouldn't the bit in bold say 'more' rather than 'less'?
  • Looks like it was a good week for everyone so far. Sounds like you are planning for your week @ewoksrule3 and that's all you can do. Just enjoy your events and stay on track for as many 'in-between' meals that you can.
  • Well done, @jmd543. I lost 1.3 kg this week. I also did more cardio this week, and I wonder if that helped. Just 3kg to go until I reach my next mini-goal of 90kg.
  • I squeeze the juice of half a lemon into my water bottle, or sometimes a whole lime. I find that really refreshing, and don't miss the squash that I used to have. If I'm out of citrus fruit, I have quarter of a glass of orange juice and top that up with water.
  • I only have 2 snacks a day, a homemade oat cookie at around 11 am and some fruit at around 3:30pm. If I have enough calories left I might have an additional oat cookie with a cup of coffee after dinner. I seem to be managing on this and not finding that I get too hungry. I have cut sweets out of my eating plan over the…
  • Keep remembering this is a marathon, not a sprint, and we all have times when it is hard to focus. I hope you both have better weeks this week. I have been amazed at how much time I am having to give over to planning and preparing meals, and exercising! But, this is my new normal, and I have had many years of heading for…
  • Great losses so far. Well done, Everyone! I lost 0.9 kg, which is almost 2 lbs, so I'm really happy with that. Stayed under my calorie goal all week, and didn't eat back any exercise calories. Here's to another successful week!
  • Congratulations on your progress! I'm finding it challenging staying within 1500 calories, but I am losing weight slowly so I am getting there. It's great to hear that you no longer have tummy pains - I suffer from those too, but have had fewer attacks since concentrating on my healthy eating plan.
  • @stellaslove I've just completed my first week on it (FODMAP). It required lots of planning, but actually not too hard to be on so far. The hardest bit is sticking to my planned foods for the day, but I am also trying to stay within 1500 calories. I have been posting pics of my meals every day on Instagram, mainly as an…
  • Well done, @stellaslove. I am the same in that I find it difficult to eat less, so I have been ensuring I make it to the gym to burn up additional calories. In fact, that is probably what helped me lose this week. I only lost 0.3kg, but I had a couple of 2500 calorie days before starting this low FODMAP plan I am now…
  • That sounds like a good plan, @stellaslove . I made chicken soup on Sunday night in preparation for my dinner late on Monday night after Zumba class. It worked out really well.mi had a lovely large bowl of soup and it was less than 200 cals.
  • Lost 0.6 this week, so I am now 96.2 kg. I have lost 1.4kg this month ( with a blip in the middle). My daily average was 1700 calls before taking exercise into account. I am aiming for 1400 - 1500 daily, so need to work a bit harder on that. From next Monday I will be following a FODMAP exclusion plan for 6 weeks, so I…
  • I went to see the dietician yesterday regarding my IBS, and he has recommended completing the FODMAP plan for 6 weeks before re-introducing foods. This is going to make everything much more of a challenge but he said over 70% of people find relief from their symptoms by identifying their trigger foods. I'm starting on…
  • Oh, my goodness, @Kexessa, how have I never heard of these sites before? Thank you so much - I'm off to see what I can order.
  • I realised after I posted that it might have sounded strange calling it a costume. Actually, @Kexessa, I always thought 'bathing suit' sounded quite refined! Anyway, update on the swim suit situation: there was only one suit in my size, and it had a plunging neckline. When I tried it on it was clear that I wouldn't…
  • I put on 0.4 kg this week, which wasn't entirely unexpected as I was away for the weekend and made the choice for the 2 days to eat a three-course evening meal plus a breakfast (which worked out at over 1000 calories alone!). I did do some walking but it wasn't enough to offset the calorie intake. In this last week I have…
  • Hi, I'm from the UK and I've been using MFP for a few months. I have quite a bit of weight to lose, and have just joined a health club, where I aim to take 3 classes a week, do some cardio vascular work and swim. I'm still being lenient with myself in terms of calorie limits. MFP states I should be at 1350, and I'm…
