  • CONGRATULATIONS! You did it!!! *sound of much cheering and whooping* I did an almost identical time and distance- 5.1 km in 32 mins 40. But I think my GPS was slightly out, so I'm going to see if I can repeat the feat before I feel confident enough to post my success!
  • WELL DONE YOU!! :D
  • Started Week 9 on Sunday morning, with the intention of speeding up a little AND increasing the time and distance I run for. And the news is... 5.1 km in 32 mins 40 seconds!! YES!!!!!! I DID 5K!!!! How do I claim my prize?!!
  • Did W8D3 on Friday evening and absolutely nailed it!! Managed just over 30 minutes and 4.85 km. I'M NEARLY THERE :)
  • W8D2 yesterday was not good :( Work arrangements meant I had to re-arrange my day, so the early morning run was delayed until later that morning. I realised quite early on that I don't like running when it's hot and sunny! I'm a typical Celt- ginger colouring, skin refuses to tan, just go hot, bright red and irritable :(…
  • @maggiekat7- I'm at the same point as you in the programme- Week 8- but tend to do my runs in the evening which means you are ahead of me, albeit only by a few hours. I LOVE reading your posts, they are an endless source of inspiration <3 You are so much quicker than me- I hope that if I keep pushing myself I will one day…
  • @rebeccatherine - Of course you can do it! You've done it once, you can do it again :) @scoutmomof8 - Congratulations on completing a 5K, when you're less than 4 weeks into the C25K programme! And coming in under 50 minutes :) *sounds of cheering and whooping*
  • @cazbit - each new weeks looks daunting- but keep believing in yourself! You're doing it!
  • I understand exactly what you mean! My mind tends to wander to thinking about my day, what I'd like to do tomorrow, songs lyrics etc. and before I know it I've nearly completed the run. Well done on completing week 5 :) - it's a major hurdle for some. If you can do 20 minutes, 30 minutes is possible.. then an hour...2…
  • Week 7 completed this evening  I managed to keep going for a while after the 25minutes alarm went off, so I eventually ran for 28 minutes and 40 seconds. Feel so pleased with myself! But sort of annoyed at the same time as I didn't manage to keep going for 30 minutes. Hay fever was really bad, had to stop to blow…
  • Hello to all the Newbies! We were all new to this once- I love reading all your posts. We're doing it, folks! By Jove, we're RUNNING!!!
  • Thank you for all your good advice. This site should offer medals :) You've been a great mentor.
  • I managed 25 minutes today- and when I checked it seems I only managed 3.8km. Like you, I worry that 5km seems a long way off. Then I recall that 7 weeks ago, a 3 minute run seemed impossible for me. I'm confident that in time I'll be a bit speedier and look both powerful and elegant as I run. Until then, I'm just amazed…
  • Sorry for not updating for a whole week- I've been caring for my beloved cat, Katowice. After slipping into a deep sleep she died peacefully and serenely in my arms at 15:03 on Thursday, aged 21 years. I miss her so much :'( Despite hayfever hitting me full on, giving me stinging eyes, sore throat and inflamed sinuses, I…
  • Completed W6D1 this evening and found it MUCH more of an effort than W5D3! The running part was fine but I really disliked having to alter my pace and breathing during the walking phases. And then by the time I'd become used to the different pace, it was time to change again! :s But the Karma Pixies were feeling…
  • I'd suggest repeating W5D3, if only to prove to yourself that you CAN do it. The psychological boost that comes from knowing that you've managed it will be more than worth the minor amendment to your training schedule. I'm in the UK, so choose to run in the late evening, when the sun is setting. I time it so I get to hear…
  • I'm starting W6 this evening. About 7 hours time (I'm in UK). Good luck to everyone. WE CAN DO THIS!
  • :) Hello and welcome. You've come to the right place- this site positively OOZES support and niceness! I've been doing this for about 11 weeks so I'm still pretty new to it all, but have found it to be the best diet tool I've ever used. There is nothing stopping you from achieving the weight the want. For starters, just…
  • One has to question their motives. They are jeering because you are doing something they feel uncomfortable with- namely getting fitter, stronger and healthier; improving yourself. Your presence makes them look at themselves as you see them- and they feel inadequate in comparison. Their choice is to either immediately stop…
  • Group hug...High Five...Whoop! Whoop!....Bravo....COWABUNGA! (delete as culturally appropriate  ) I have a bottle of champagne ready and waiting here and later this evening I will raise a glass to our success. Thank you for all the encouragement. I couldn't have done it with you <3
  • I did it. I did it! I DID it! I DID IT!! I DID IT! Week 5 Day 3  I am so happy- I NEVER thought this day would happen. I am so proud of myself tonight! To all beginners, I urge you to stick with it. I nearly gave up after W1D1, but used the inspiring stories and constructive advice on this site to help me keep…
  • Yes, Friday evening it is for W5D3. I just have to get my head around it and keep telling myself I can do it. And remember to wash my running gear tonight. I left it in my gym bag and now it REEKS :open_mouth:
  • Just go in from completing W5D2. Yes! :D I paced myself, ran at a fairly slow and steady pace and was amazed when my running buddy began the 15 seconds countdown before walking- I felt I could have easily carried on for another 5 minutes each time. I feel amazing, especially when I look back and remember how difficult I…
  • Yes, I agree with all the above. Do C25K :) Take it slowly and steadily and it's AMAZING! But a bit of advice...get some advice from a proper running shop and get fitted for a decent pair of running shoes. At the beginning I didn't think I needed "proper" trainers and ended up with REALLY achy knees and calves. Someone one…
  • Completed Week 5 Day 1 this evening :) I took it slowly and tried to maintain a steady pace and absolutely nailed it! I feel that if I had to I could have carried on for a little long if I really had to. I feel AWESOME! As I run in and around the country park nature trail I'm getting to see the same runners, cyclists and…
  • The best advice I received was to lose weight at a slow and steady pace, rather than crash dieting. This stops the skin getting too loose above the scar and looking saggy and wrinkly. And after a good exercise session, shower and use a body moisturiser all over. Whilst I still have along way to go to get my pre-pregnancy…
  • Had a nasty accident yesterday where I ran down the garden path in ridiculously high heel and went flying down the steps and into the road. Bruised legs, badly grazed knees and a wrist so swollen and painful I thought it was broken. It's not :) just sprained and bruised from the impact. Anyway, I know I probably should…
  • To clarify, the message I posted about my similar experiences was not intended to replace medical advice. I have been checked over by a medically qualified professional and the symptoms I experienced are normal for me. I repeat: Normal FOR ME. That is not to say they are normal for you! As always, if you feel unwell or…
  • I have these exact symptoms after a really intense boxing session! I feel damn good at the time, but on the way home I get icy cold, teeth chatter, shivers etc and once felt a bit "spaced out". I asked my coach and he said it can caused by the combination of neurochemicals released when we exercise. It's been compared to a…
  • I looked at the schedule and had a bit of a panic. But it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Just before I was about to quit I told my running buddy and he told me not to quit as I only had 15 seconds left. That's something I've realised- I'd feel awful if I'd put in all that effort only to fail because I couldn't keep…
