  • Girl, yes! That is totally realistic! I'm following 1280 calories per day, working out with my Les Mills Combat routine 5 days a week. I started on December 28th at 270, I weighed in at my 1 month and was down 20 lbs. You can totally do 30 lbs in 3 months! My biggest piece of advice is to never quit. Starting out, it…
  • I did this a few years back. At the time, I thought it was working for me but, in retrospect, I think I would have had the same results with or without the drops. I lost a lot the first week or so, but now I realize it was mostly water weight that dropped off.
  • For me, it's what the comment is! I've shown people "before" pictures and they say something like, "wow you look great.. I never realized how fat/big/large/etc you were before". To me that's rude. But, I love the comments that are encouraging and from a good place
  • Definitely a work in progress, but 20 lbs in 1 month is a win in my book
  • I'm a Beachbody coach, so I usually stick to those programs, especially since my schedule sucks in terms of finding time to physically go to the gym. My absolute go-to is Les Mills Combat! In January, I lost 20 lbs and over 15 inches :) I think the biggest thing is finding the type of workout that you enjoy the most, and…
  • Also- and I mean this with absolutely no disrespect because my husband eats whatever he wants and never gains an ounce while it seems like I look at food and gain weight- you can't keep blaming your in-laws for your struggle. If they don't gain weight from the food they eat, good for them. But you do. If they want to be…
  • After you lost the 64 lbs did you recalculate your allowed calories? Maintenance at 240 lbs is way different than maintenance at 176 lbs, so that may be something to consider. Just plopping it into a google-searched calorie calculator, maintenance at 240 is around 2200 and maintenance at 175 is just below 1900. I know it…
  • How tall are you? 1,900-2,000 would be too high for me to lose any weight on but I'm 5'3". What are you estimating your exercise cals to be and what does your exercise include (93 minutes of walking isn't the same as 93 minutes of circuit training or weight lifting or running or whatever else)?
  • If you aren't weighing/measuring your food, I'd be willing to bet that you are eating more calories than you think you are. Also, are you exercising and eating back those calories? If you are, there's a possibility that you're eating too many calories because the exercise estimates tend to be on the high end. Maybe open…
  • Are you weighing your food? Weight loss is legit as simple as calories in vs calories out. If you aren't weighing or logging your food accurately/honestly, there's a strong chance that you aren't actually eating at 1290 cals...
  • The best piece of advice I can give is bring food with you as much as you can. I commuted and gained a lot of weight because I was constantly eating on the go or binge eating when I got home because I didn't eat throughout the day.
  • I understand what you're saying. But your initial question was if you put something wrong into the MFP goals because it seems low and you aren't satisfied on what the 1200 allows you, and you didn't. It's just that the food choices you are making aren't giving you as much bang for your buck as they could be (rice and…
  • You just have to find snacks that are protein and nutrient dense. The processed snacking will be your downfall because, per volume, they are calorie dense. By switching your snacks to ones that are not empty calories, you'll feel full longer and ultimately be more successful.
  • How long have you tried eating at the 1200? It definitely takes a week or 2 for your body to get used to it. It's not a particularly terrible number, you have to just find the right foods that aren't as calorie dense so you can eat more volume of it.
  • Think of it big picture: even if you went over your calories by 8 every single day for the whole year, you wouldn't even gain a full lb! Don't beat yourself up over such a small number :)
  • This is how I am. About 2 or 3 days before mine starts, my weight jumps 5 or so lbs but by the time I'm halfway through it has went back to normal. I wouldn't worry about it being a true gain unless every week/month it's higher and higher.
  • Honestly, if you are worried about weight gain during pregnancy, follow the diet restrictions that they put on pregnant ladies with gestation diabetes (had it with my daughter, it's not as hard as you'd imagine) and ONLY eat the necessary calories. My doctor told me that my first trimester, to stay around a healthy level…
  • It's not so much that when I'm thirsty I feel hungry, like the grumbling in my tummy or the burn or however you describe it. It's more like my body doesn't feel satisfied or content. I've noticed that many people equate that discontentment to hunger when it truly isn't.
  • I completely understand what you're saying, for sure. Before I started sucking at life and gaining all my weight back, I was in a similar position. I know when I was working out with a trainer, they suggested a 40/40/20 for macros and 1500 calories. What is your calorie intake for the macros you posted above? Can you…
  • I've noticed that sometimes I mistake dehydration for hunger? I know that sounds dumb, but it's true. I've been making it a goal to drink half my weight number in ounces of water and it has really helped. Not sure if it's the fact that the water is taking up space in my belly or if it's because thirst and hunger are…
  • This same thing happens to me the first week when I change my eating habits! I went up 2 lbs the first week and then lost 5 lbs the 2nd week, and now I'm only seeing declining numbers. Give it some time, it's water for sure.
  • The reason I ask what your workouts look like is that you may need to reevaluate if what you're doing is going to give you the body you want. Many times people focus on kicking up the cardio in the attempt to burn "more" calories. It might be a situation where you may want to dial that back and focus on lifting heavy. 146…
  • What do your gym workouts look like? And what weight are you aiming for..? 146 for a 5'5" man seems to be appropriate, unless I'm mistaken.
  • And this is why I love the MFP community, everybody has had experience with things and can warn me against the bad ideas I get stuck in my head! I appreciate all of the feedback, I have a Ninja system and a juicer, so I think I'm going to mess around with different smoothie recipes to make sure I can get more veggies in…
