  • Also, you may not be fit enough to walk for 40 mins but still want that much exercise. When I started I could barely make it a quarter mile so I would walk until I couldn't. Take a break and start over.
  • A lot of my calorie cuts were about finding ways to end cravings by using something with less calories. Frozen Yogurt instead of ice cream. Sugar free jello instead of whatever. I found that cherry season was really easy because I could eat cherries instead of anything sweet and be just fine. If you like salads look at…
  • Way too early. Also if a lot of exercising is new to you, you are probably gaining muscle which weighs a lot more than fat. So if you are taking measurements and they are going down but your weight is staying the same or even gaining a few lbs you are getting healthier. I started at 500 lbs and had a 6 month plateau at 400…
  • I prefer my peanut butter with some baby carrots. Just raw carrots to scoop up some peanut butter.
  • Alcohol has a lot more calories than you would think but I don't think that is the issue. If you work out that much on that few calories, and you look like your picture then you may be putting on muscle which ways much more than fat. The best way to see if this is true is find other ways to measure yourself beyond just the…
  • It does not matter where you put it as long as you put it in there. Also you can add more Categories if you need them.
  • The community helps. Use it. If you have a question people are willing to help the best they can. Even if all you need is a kick in the butt =P
  • A lot of comfort eaters here. I know I am. To help with that, I stopped having anything in the house that was easy to comfort eat. I don't have chips, candy etc in the house. I do however have lots of fruit, sugar free jello, and Outshine bars (omg delicious and almost all of them are 25-50 calories) Anyways. Good Luck and…
  • I started out at over 500 lbs. I spent a few years calorie counting and spending 2-3 hours a day in the gym (easy to do when you have no social life). I got all the way down to 230 lbs. Then I lost my job and spent time looking and could not find anything. I ended up working fast food part time for a year and commuting for…
  • A single meal can really throw your weight one way or the other. That is why it is advised to not weigh in very often. I used to have a graph of my weight loss that showed a 15 lb spike in 1 day. I was eating low cal and low sodium. I had a cheat meal at Olive Garden and did karaoke that night. When I sing I drink gallons…
  • If you have joint issues, see if a local gym has water aerobics classes available. I took classes for years and now teach them twice a week. It was and is amazing for me. Every instructor is different and every class is different but if anywhere near you has an option for it, it is worth trying. Most gyms will even let you…
  • I am glad I used one in the beginning. He is still a good friend of mine even though I no longer use a personal trainer.
  • This is one of my favorite pictures of myself to look at. The shorts the two of them are wearing are an old pair of mine.
  • click on their name. On the next page click "add as friend"
  • I have a picture of me at close to my worst, and a picture of me at close to my best. I am about right in the middle right now but am calorie counting again and moving in the right direction again.
  • I just looked, she is eating almost nothing. Less than 500 calories most days. If this is accurate, you need help. And I don't mean with losing weight. Eating like that will crash your whole body. You may lose a lot of weight quickly but it will be at the cost of your organs and muscle tissue. I don't say this to be mean.…
  • I wish I could tell you that there is a magic way to lose massive weight but the truth is that losing that much weight for more than the first two weeks in unhealthy for 90% of people. Your first two weeks you will lose a lot because there is less food in your system and your body will hold less water to process that food.…
  • I don't log my 2 hours of physical therapy every week even though I am dripping in sweat within the first 5 mins and I don't stop until I leave. I figure I cannot weigh every little thing I eat so I am going to be off on some of them even though I have gotten better about guessing weights. I log my gym time though. I don't…
  • Back in High School when I was 350 lbs I was happy and healthy. A 350 lb guy that runs an 8 min mile is a train that cannot be stopped. After school when the physical activities stopped I went from happy, heavy, and healthy to over 500 lbs and miserable. For some people they do not need to hit rock bottom before they can…
  • Everyone has their own tips and tricks. For me some of the biggest changes was not going out to eat and zero fast food. I replaced almost all meat with chicken and I eat a lot of soup and salad. Salads can be killers though if you add too much junk to it, they just become healthy looking junk food.
  • I am sure you have heard all the buzz words and deeds before but some of them really do help. I like to park at the back of the lot when I am shopping so I walk farther. I always take the stairs even if there is an elevator. LOL my last airplane ride I remember walking along the crowded escalator with all the room in the…
  • The best motivation I have found is finding something that you cannot do right now that you really want to be able to do. Work toward that. I started out barely able to walk and now I teach water aerobics, all because I wanted to play with my nephew instead of just watch him play.
  • On a day when you work out hard, if you are hungry it is OK and even recommended to eat back some of those calories. I am like you most days though. You try and avoid eating the extra calories back to lose weight faster but sometimes you are hungry for a reason. Long workouts require your glucose being renewed so a small…
  • I am a comfort eater so counting everything is key for me. When I first started, my first goal was to go a whole month without desserts of any kind. Some seriously stressful things happened that month including threat of losing my job. I remember calling my mother and saying " I know money cannot buy me happiness but it…
  • How private? Do you want friends to be able to see it or just you? I know my food log is set so only my friends can see it. Not sure on the blog I have not tried it but if it helps I can post a random test on mine for you.
  • If it is set to 1200, you are doing yourself a disservice. If you go too low your body will know it is starving. It will not relinquish fat because it will go into survival mode. When I was 500 lbs I started at 1800 and most people thought that was too aggressive. And some days it was. On a day where I worked out hard I…
  • I am on the downslope of my roller coaster ride. I started at over 500 lbs. I dropped down to 230 over the course of 2 years of calorie counting. Then my job changed and I was poor as hell so the free food they gave me that was terrible for me did its number on me. (I stopped calorie counting during this time) I jumped all…
  • This series is a good start. I am trying really hard to convince my step dad to start using it. He is wheelchair bound currently and probably will be forever if he does not get his weight under control. This is free on Youtube and has some good chair exercises. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPJKAG0mknI
  • I normally bring a can of progresso light soup to work and microwave it. Most are around 200 calories for the whole can. If I am not doing that then I normally have a salad with some chicken in it and an apple.
  • I do a lot of 200 calorie lunches that are Progresso light soups that end up being 80-110 calories per cup and 2 cups in a can. I like the Light beef pot roast, and the light chicken pot pie.
