Ahh, my favourite thread. It never ceases to amaze me that people continue to take this stuff.

I thought three stone was 42lbs.

I love my Trek Verve. I've got the 2 disk lowstep.

Yep, I imagine every Brit reading the title wondered where the heck the thread was going.

Oh that's definitely doable. I managed 3,887,552 steps in 2020 and would love to beat that this year. My recorded walking miles was 950 and I'm hoping to improve on that and get to 1,000 miles. I'm also planning on doing more cycling this year. Last year I cycled 1,450 miles, and my goal for this year is 1,600.

I don't know about the Vivofit, because as a runner first and foremost, I've always had Forerunners. Started with the FR205 which was like wearing a housebrick on my wrist, but did everything I wanted. Eventually upgraded it to the FR25 which again did all the things a runner requires, but now because I've recently started…

@TavistockToad Better late than never, but how did it go? I love my local parkrun. Actually it's the only parkrun in New England. If I want to try a different one I have to travel 270 miles to New Jersey. I should have run a 10k at the weekend but a snowstorm with freezing rain on race day put paid to that. Gotta love that…

I hope that tasted as good as it looks. Because it looks freaking awesome.

Greggs cheese and onion pasty, tater-tots covered in chilli and melted cheese, fish and chips from my favourite chip shop in Yorkshire, home-made shepherds pie, and all the cheese.
-
Vegetable samosas, sticky toffee pudding, pizza, cheesy puffs, European bacon. All totally worth it.

Of course, it’s possible this just looked painful to me. I don’t enjoy running with other people—period—least of all at Mile 23 of a marathon. I’ve dodged dozens of casual, “We should run together!” requests from well-meaning extroverts; I’ve bailed on a group lunch run at a former office, then went on my own run five…

@middlehaitch I used to marzipan and ice my cake, but my husband always picks off the marzipan, so I tend not to bother anymore. But as long as there's a chunk of cheese to go with it, I'm happy. Ahh, sherry trifle. That's my husband's specialty. I think I may have to drop a few subtle hints in the coming days.

I made my fruitcake back in October and have been feeding it with brandy every week. Can't wait for Christmas so I can eat a piece of it with a slice of Wensleydale cheese. Oops. Forgot to add. I've got the mincemeat for mince-pies, but this year I'm making my own pastry. (I have got a packet of ready-made pastry just in…

Pretty much the same age as me, and started running at the same age as me as well. And that's where the similarities end. I can only dream of those race times. I hope she continues to smash those records.

@ctlaws44 nice to see I'm not the only one with a geeky spreadsheet for race data. Mine goes back to 2008 and has got all my times, PRs, finish positions, upcoming races etc etc. Plus graphs so I can see how my pace has improved over the years.

I ran my final race of the year at the weekend. The weather was vile but over 200 runners braved the wind and the rain for a fun 5k. I came fourth in my age-group, which I was quite pleased with. I could probably have run a bit faster, but I lost concentration for a while because I was running behind a couple of young…

My first HM time was 2hr 45min and I wasn't last, and I bet you won't be either. Have fun.

All of a sudden I feel my ugly sweater running shirt is waaaay too understated.

Garmin Forerunner 25. Very basic running watch, but has everything I need (GPS, geeky stat stuff etc). It's linked to Garmin Connect, Strava, and MFP. Keep thinking about upgrading, but haven't pulled the trigger yet (mainly because I don't know which Garmin to pick).
-
@TavistockToad I've got my Holiday Hustle race coming up this weekend, and because I'm a good girl and follow the 'nothing new on race day' rule*, I decided to wear my ugly sweater running shirt at parkrun on Saturday just to make sure there's nothing on it that will drive me bonkers while running. And it's fab. My…

Happy Thanksgiving! I survived my parkrun turkey trot, but it was oh so cold. Temperature was 15 deg F which was brought even lower than that thanks to the wind-chill. Felt very sorry for the poor guy visiting from the UK who obviously didn't get the memo about how cold it gets in New England. Today was not the day to be…
-
Yep, I'm not looking forward to that one little bit. I'm supposed to be doing the parkrun Turkey Trot, but am very tempted to stay in bed instead.
-
Here's my finishers' bling from my 5k turkey trot at the weekend. I'm a bit annoyed with myself for not starting nearer the front and getting stuck behind slower runners and walkers. All my own fault, and probably cost me a 3rd place age-group finish. (I ended up finishing 5th). But it was a fun race and all the kids who'd…

Oh I'd definitely sign up for a Danish Dash. In fact I'm signed up for a race in April and they've asked if people would be interested in a Donut Dash. What kind of dumb question is that? Hell yeah, I'm interested.
-
Ran my 5k turkey trot yesterday and I'm rather annoyed with myself because I could have done better than I did. There were about 650 runners and someone had very sensibly put pacing signs out so that people could seed themselves. Except I was probably the only person who heeded them and ended up stuck behind loads of…

@katharmonic welcome to snowy Boston! I'm working from home right now but am about to head into the city for a meeting. If you fancy a run tomorrow, the parkrun crew at Jamaica Pond are very friendly (it's a weekly 5k with a 9:00am start, followed by coffee and chat at a local coffee shop). I won't be there because I've…

@Beka3695 Race budget? Nah, it's just a simple and inexpensive sport. (thanks to @PastorVincent for posting this originally)

I've got a turkey trot on Saturday. I think they're expecting around 700 runners. Hopefully the snow which has been forecast starting tonight will have melted by then.

If I was 16 miles into a marathon, the only thing I would stop for would be a cupful of Gatorade or a Gu. Save the engagement ring for the finish line. And if it stopped me from getting a PR I would be extremely pissed off.
