Tonight's run was annoying. I totally overdressed for the 30-degree weather except for my hands. So I had clothes tided around my waist which meant my arms hand to swing wider to miss and now are sore. Sor arms from running! Like really? #grr
And my fingers were sooo cold. Had them in fists inside my gloves. With all the overdressing, I forgot my hand warmers. #sigh
But I got a short run (11 miles) in anyways.
BUT! Was my second run with my Black Diamond Storm headlamp (save I wear it as a belt) and it worked great! I just need to get a second set of batteries so when it inevitably dies on me I am ready.

Re X-rays for stress fractures: Last year (almost to the day in fact) my doctor suspected I had a stress fracture and ordered an x-ray. Obviously, it didn't show anything, but four weeks later he ordered another x-ray to be taken, and you could definitely see the lump of extra bone as the fracture was in the healing process. In that respect, x-rays aren't entirely pointless in that they can be used to confirm the original diagnosis. Obviously an MRI is preferred, but an MRI is also waaaay more expensive.

@MegaMooseEsq - your house is so cute! Cracked up at your running with two frozen hams comments.
@PastorVincent - love the "after the race pictures", lol. I hate cold hands on a run but even more hate it when cycling.
I got to do a rainy run this morning! When I let the dog out at 4:15 I thought "wow, it's so muggy!" I left around 4:30 and there was a very slight mist, almost like when you run through a cloud. I always do this one circle that's close to 1/2 mile 2-3 times by my house first, in case I discover I forgot something, or need the bathroom. So about .3 miles into the circle it starts pouring. I keep running, get to my house (.2 miles further), no rain! Went inside and got a baggy for my phone and went back out. Run the circle again and the same thing - only raining in this one little area. That's Florida for you. So I decided to explore where it would be raining on the rest of my route. Had everything from mist, to sprinkles, to light rain to pouring rain. It was very fun!
I know all the cars that leave from about 4:30-5:30am and they are used to seeing me with all my lights, so now I'm sure they are convinced I'm crazy!
Tomorrow morning it is supposed to be 49 when I run in the morning! Yay! Bring it on!

I forgot to update my ticker with my last run on Monday. Tuesday was a scheduled rest day, yesterday and today additional days to allow my back to heal. Feeling better this morning but still not 100%. I might take the dogs for a short walk before work as a test. As it feels now, might be another couple days before I run again.. better to be safe than sorry.

A lovely day to run. Freezing rain and sleet on top of ice. Today's unique sensation was sleet getting in my shoes and giving me a pinprick of cold before melting.

1115-4.3k total-29.1k, goal-100k
A slow crappy short run in the middle of a business trip. Haven't had much time to sleep lately, and it's 80s F & humid where I am now. Nearly forgot what a PITA it is to run in hot weather.
Started raining in the middle of it, but not nearly heavy enough for any badass status. And I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the rain was coming from, the skies were blue and clouds were white...
Race this weekend. Sincerely hope to get some sleep before then.
Upcoming races:
20181118 Shanghai Marathon (10k)
@MegaMooseEsq That looks like an AWESOME house, and even better, just think of all the good times you'll have there.
@7lenny7 @MobyCarp @shanaber and anyone else I might have missed, hope everyone feels better soon. Here's sending vibes.
@Beka3695 Welcome! Trail runs are a ton of fun.
@mbaker566 I never get tired of seeing pics of your pups. Hermie is soooo adorable.6 -
The sun came out!!! It was a brisk 48F yesterday and had a nice run. I really love not sweating buckets and feeling like I'm going to be over taken by the heat!

ran 2 miles this morning
I fought it. a lot. lots of whining. I could see the frost on my window. I didn't even look at the temperature. just let the dogs out and dressed warmish. i wish i had remembered a buff for my face but otherwise i was good. only thing was I was dropping dried mud all over the house because I grabbed and put on the leggings from the trail race sunday.
speed demon wanted to go faster. old girl was happy with a nice trot. hermie(foster) thought this was crap and running is dumb and fetch and tug of war is sooooo much better. i can't take him too far, probably not more than 3mi as he is only 8ish months old. he also is small enough (25lb?) that he has to canter while the other two are trotting.
it was a decent run overall. pace was ok considering how much hermie was not feeling it. it felt fine. nothing too achy. my hamstrings are tight but no amount of stretching has loosened them. Definitely need to focus on them. but it could be I pulled it(the right one) while working on flexibility. Nothing I haven't had to deal with before
Do i regret the run? no, but i can't say i feel wohoo about it. hoping i can change Hermie's mind about running. he has a lot of energy to be stuck in the crate all day.
after talking to the RD on sunday, while i'm still going to focus on mileage for the long run, I think I might focus more on the time on my feet. and fartleks, hills when i can find them, trails when i get my state park sticker for next year. very few of the county parks with good trails are free. rails to trails are pretty flat. i don't necessarily have time to run 8-10 miles in the morning before work at my speed. i also need to take a nap afterwards or the hypersomnia will take over and I will fall asleep at work. or worse-on the way to work.

And this is the time of year I am thankful I moved to Phoenix. I suffer through 120 for beautiful running weather in winter. Lol
@MegaMooseEsq I forgot to say your house is soooo cute! And I love the leg warmers!2 -
The Weather Ppl wrote:Snow this evening will transition to snow showers late. Low around 30F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 100%. 1 to 3 inches of snow expected.

The first half of today's run felt kind of bleh, but after I made myself keep running up a long drawn-out incline, the second half got easier, faster, and had just as much incline/descent as the first half. Maybe I just finally woke up or warmed up.

Simple inexpensive sport bahaha.
Did a gentle 5k this morning with a good stretch and roll. No real sore spots. Calves were a little tight but I'm all good. This time tomorrow I'll be standing around the start, jumping around to keep warm and fight off nerves! Weather is supposed to be clear, a little cloudy with light breezes. OMG im so excited!10 -
/wave at everyone. Not gonna make goal this month. Sinus infection that went to chest before I could catch it(thank you CPAP). Antibiotics for the next 14 days and have been strongly encouraged by my doctor not to "stress my body" until I complete them. grrrrrr.
@MegaMooseEsq lovely house, go eighties tights
@7lenny7 Sweet pic of Kody.
@shanaber Uggh on the stress fx, get healed up and back out there, hopefully in time for agility trials.
@MobyCarp hope the hammy is feeling better.
@Avidkeo the medal is the main reason I run...
@Beka3695 love the meme about the cliff.7 -
