  • That is really cute! I picked up my first crumbling skirt at Target. It’s really comfortable and I’m liking it better than my capri leggings or shorts. I’ve posted a couple of recent photos of it in the spoiler.
  • @Teresa502 yes ma’am! Heading out as soon as this rain storm passes!
  • @bearly63 how are you doing in your recovery from the stress fracture? I’m praying for your son and sending you virtual hugs.
  • In running related news... I am lazy. I didn’t run yesterday because (insert lame excuse). Then today it was 91F outside... so I didn’t run again. I plan to run tomorrow 6-7 miles if it’s a bit cooler.
  • Yes ketchup! Mustard is evil...
  • If I were in your shoes and my employer had something set up, I’d probably honor my husbands request. If he or one of the kids got really sick now that he’s made the request I’d think that would be even harder. It sounds like his request is coming from a genuinely fearful position. You might talk with him about setting up…
  • It’s very sweet to be so considerate with your neighbor. I agree to talk to her and let her know. Maybe even offer to pick up essentials from the store for her so that she doesn’t have to go out. With as unpredictable as some of the store shelves are, she might have items she really needs.
  • I like the simplicity of her workouts. I also find that she includes a lot of lateral movement which has helped better support my running. Sometimes I’ll do one of her 15 minute videos as a warm up before a run. If really helps.
  • Well done all you quilters! I am loving all the quilt photos. I never learned to quilt but was always intrigued by my grandmother’s handiwork. I crochet and am working on baby blankets for my daughter currently (she’s due at the beginning of June). Like many crafters, I have several projects working at once. So many UFOs.…
  • I ran in the neighborhood tonight before dinner. 15 minute tempo run followed by 10 minutes walk/run cool down ~~~ 2 miles total. Leg felt really strong and normal.
  • I’m hopeful that people will come to understand the legitimacy. I think that’s been expressed clearly here on this thread by many including yourself. I also recognize that people learn things in different ways and at different rates. Sometimes finding a way to support others helps the reality sink in. FWIW - I have asthma.…
  • After reading the messages over the past 24 hours I’m going to propose we try to find the positive things we can do in this crisis instead of debating the legitimacy of it. We’ve been “asked” in our community to stay at home and not flood the parks. The more we can do to honor that request, the more it honors the health…
  • I took a few days off last week to just be lazy at home and try to wrap my mind around what is going on in the world. The extra rest must have been really good for my leg because it felt much stronger after several nights of quality sleep. I guess I really did need the extra rest and recovery time. I’m back to running…
  • @Teresa502 Happy birthday! @rheddmobile nudge, nudge... push, push... And with that I’ll get my lazy self out yo run in the neighborhood too...
  • I checked my pace chart from the run club. For a 9:55 marathon race pace the easy run range is 10:15 to 11:07 and the long run is 10:18 to 11:31. Sounds like you are on plan for a 2:10:00 goal half marathon.
  • MFP Team E now has the 500 mile bib!
  • 3.1 miles tonight. Leg is feeling strong. I took a couple 30 second walk breaks for sheer laziness a couple miles in. I didn’t really need to walk. I just felt like walking for a short bit. So I did.
  • Yes shoes make a difference. Get fitted at a running store. I also had knee trouble until I took extra rest days and slowed down (a lot) on the run segments.
  • Another thing to consider is that runners (I.e. me) don’t always get enough lateral movement because so much of the training is from forward movement (running). I’m recovering from a hamstring injury and have incorporated low impact aerobics for cross training to make sure I get the lateral movement. I don’t have a gym…
  • Oh my! Lots of hugs and prayers for you and yours.
  • Hugs to you! Good luck with the hip exercises. I’ve been doing Leslie Sansone walk aerobic videos to cross train and get lateral movement for my hips and hamstrings.
  • I completed C25k in about 9 weeks after starting it last year in February. I highly recommend building a good walking base of 30-60 minutes walking 3-4 times per week for several weeks before c25k if you haven’t already. That said, the first few weeks were hard for me. It took me until the 3rd week to realize that the…
  • I think you’ve made a wise choice. If you are also exercising, be sure to track your activity calories. MFP is set up for you to include those calories in your target. I sometimes eat more than my target for social events and keep an eye on my weekly calorie intake. Finding balance will help you stick to it over time.
  • I did not have a scale when I started MFP this time (it was lost in Hurricane Harvey). I made the decision to enter a weight guess into MFP and get started counting calories. And I made the plan to buy a scale after I finished installing baseboards in my home. 5 weeks later I bought a scale. I knew I had lost weight over…
  • Oh my! I was not expecting stress fracture from what you described. Hopefully he can give you ideas on how to stay active safely. Lots of prayers headed in your direction!
  • Based on what you are describing, I think you just genetically have differently shaped legs than you desire. My sister and I both have different body shapes. I have very small ankles and wrists. She has larger sticky ankles and thicker wrists. She also naturally has a flatter tummy than I do at the same weight. We both…
  • I don’t have a race in mind really. The training was being offered by my run club at my pace and I just didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity for free coached training. The timing isn’t really ideal since it would finish around the beginning of Summer. But it would mean that I’ll be in better shape for the Fall series…
  • I went to the group run this morning for the planned 6.5 miles keeping in the back of my mind that I would cut the course short or walk if my body told me this was too much too soon. Turns out there were only 3 people (including myself and the coach). All 3 of us were recovering from injury. So we all agreed to keep the…
  • Excellent points. I’m leaning toward trying it. It turns out the first run will be 6.5 miles instead of 7. (It’s funny to me that the half mile shorter makes it sound soooo much easier). I did mention the issue to the coach and he feels like I can cut the run short if I need to. Next week he is skipping the long run due to…
