There's no need to cut out starches.

Well done!!!

B. I just want to lose 3kg to get a nice healthy BMI of 22
-
Starvation mode doesn't exist, y'all
-
I used to only eat 50% of my exercise calories but I could've gone right up to 75% because I lost, on average, 750g a week as opposed to the 500g a week I was gunning for.
-
I only gained 12kg for the 42 weeks I was pregnant and I lost it all by the time I was 10 weeks post-partum. I'm now 3kg under my pre-pregnancy weight at 5.5 months post-partum. I'm eating a ton of food every day and I'm still losing weight, albeit very slowly.
-
To get below 60kg. I'm 1kg away!!! It's been soooooo long since I last weighed <60kg.
-
I'm gorging on all the food! I'm eating a minimum of 2500 calories a day with very minimal exercise (a light walk once or twice a week) so... I'm likely eating at, or very slightly under, maintenance. I only have 3kg to go to get to my goal weight and I'm not yet 6 months post-partum so I've got loads of time ;)
-
The easiest way to create a caloric deficit is to breastfeed ;)
-
SOOOOO many! I'm breastfeeding and I'm still losing weight at 5.5 months post-partum. I am 1.63m and 61kg. I can get away with, at bare minimum, 2500+ calories without doing intentional exercise.

This is bro science/woo.

You're doing great, @VeryKatie :)

What free app will track my steps on my phone when it's in my handbag? I don't always remember to keep it in my pocket...

A woman of average size and height will take quite some time to lose weight on 1400 calories a day. I'm that woman. So 1200 calories for someone who is around 5" 3 and who weighs around 140lb is more than enough. Someone shorter and/or thinner than that will take forever to lose weight on 1200 calories.
-
I'm with @amtyrell on this. Weigh everything you put into your mouth and create enough of a caloric deficit. The weight WILL drop off when there's a caloric deficit.
-
Congrats on your baby! Why, though, did you feel it necessary to diet on top of breastfeeding? I've been losing weight purely from breastfeeding my now 4-month-old boob monster.
-
I stopped trying to lose the last 6kg (58 was my goal weight) in May of last year. I was just not in the right frame of mind. I discovered I was 6 weeks pregnant at the end of June so obviously put any diet goals to rest. I gained only the bare minimum of 12kg and it took me to 76kg. I'm now 4 months post-partum and I'm…

EBF does not mean extended breastfeeding. It means exclusive/ly breastfeeding.
-
Pre-pregnancy weight was 64kg Weight at 42-ish weeks was 76kg Weight at 18.5 weeks post-partum is 61.8kg Goal weight is 58kg I'm not doing anything special besides breastfeeding as much and for as long as my little person needs. Oh and I wear her in a wrap or carrier for a couple of hours most days a week.

There is only ONE thing that governs weight-loss: calories in < calories out. I am nursing whenever my little efficient milksucker wants milk, ie more or less every 90 minutes. This includes night-time hence I am saying 24/7 Feed on demand and you, too, shouldn't have any supply issues. Be very honest about your caloric…
-
How often are you feeding, @mom2babyk31 You should feed on demand for as long as bubs want to get - and maintain - a good supply. I'm 2kg under my pre-pregnancy weight at 4 months post-partum and my supply is great because I'm nursing on demand 24/7
-
I'd love to meet Dr Newman! This is a discussion about the efficacy of breastfeeding as a weight loss aid. I, too, have struggled to breastfeed. My little girl, too STILL has a lip tie. That has not prevented us from breastfeeding, though it sure as hell has been difficult and sore. Far, far, far more painful than giving…
-
You needn't eat extra calories to breastfeed successfully. You literally just need to nurse your child on demand and for as long as they want, ie don't watch the clock ;)
-
My weight loss has been stalling for the last two weeks or so as I've only lost 0.1kg and that was after I'd cut back down to 2000 calories to see if it'll make a difference. It could of course be that I'm ovulating and I'm retaining water. We'll see by next week.
-
I'm 5''3.5 and I lose a pound a week on 1200 calories sooooooooo y'all should obviously eat fewer calories to effect the same weight loss BUTTTTTT MFP won't allow that because it assumes everyone's of average height AT LEAST.
-
I'm 4 months post-partum and 2kg under my pre-pregnancy weight. I am breastfeeding on demand 24/7 and THAT is the secret of maintaining a healthy milk supply. Even the skinniest moms manage to breastfeed.
