I definitely agree and I am also a big baker when I am home so I have a pretty good eye for what the difference is between a 1/2 cup and what is really a cup. I also have a nutrition guide for what they serve at our cafeteria so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm eating and if I have to pick on MFP, I never chose the…

So I guess I'm a weird anomaly but I haven't weighed a gram of my food and I've lost 1lb/week or more since starting MFP in January. I've now lost 20lbs. I'm 5'3" and I started at 154 and I'm now at 134. I don't even have measuring cups. I'm working overseas and I eat in a work cafeteria for every meal so I can't make my…

I would swing shift (afternoon to night) and I get up around 9-10am, have coffee and a light breakfast. I eat my bigger meal in the middle of my shift and plan some snacks. I exercise when I get off work (11pm-midnight) I have a boiled egg and english muffin with cream cheese after I work out. I only drink water other than…

I'm feeling slow today and need this translated. Is he saying that the contestants accidentally threw off the results because they knew they were going to be analyzed?

Basically...lose weight. You don't get to pick where the weight comes off but working on your core and losing weight will get you there.
-
The second. MFP is designed for you to eat back the calories so all of the working out calories add to your deficit.
-
It's nobody's business if I'm losing weight. I order something that fits in my calorie allowance and enjoy it.
-
Are you accurately logging everything including those "cheat days"? It is actually very easy to erase a 500cal/day calorie deficit with 2 cheat meals a week.
-
MFP will tell you your calorie intake. I set mine to lose 1lb/week based on my weight and height and mine is 1280/day. Yours will be different.

I actually hated that show because I thought they tried to make too radical of changes too quickly. They would take a family who ate nothing but frozen chicken tenders and give them a 2 hour long recipe for making steamed clams or something equally stupid instead of teaching them how to make quick, healthier baked chicken…

I love carbs. That's why I'm never doing low-carb again and just watching calories. I've lost 18lbs since January and haven't given up a cookie.
-
I'm just doing CICO and working up to running a 10K

I guess this is what I want to hear. I only needed to lose about 25lbs and I am losing it over 6 months so I'm hoping that doesn't cause any long term metabolism damage.
-
I'm wondering this myself. I took it as, their metabolism was much slower than a person the same as their new size but I'm not sure. I read this today and it did concern me that maybe some people do develop a much slower metabolism. I do think what they do on the show is unsustainable.

Actually, there isn't anything wrong with skipping breakfast if you aren't hungry. I'm not usually hungry until 11am. There was a recent study that showed people who skipped breakfast lost more weight (because obviously they ate fewer calories). My husband really wants a savory breakfast every day. I honestly don't but I…

Yeah, it's kind of a bummer. I just lost another 10 calories today because I lost another 1.4lbs but I'm thankful for the weight loss! It just means I'm dragging around a little less of me so less to feed.
-
This is probably better left to your doctor to answer but for me personally, I always lost weight in my first 2 trimesters because I didn't have much appetite. I follow the Bradley method so I focused on eating protein and nutrient rich veggies. I also try to walk as much as possible which was good for my sciatica.
-
So are you trying to lose weight? Because I'm pretty sure you were eating over 1200cal/day if you are currently overweight.
-
That would be for a 1lb loss. You would need a 1000cal deficit per day for a 2lb loss per week or 7000cal/week.
-
I did it and ended up with horrible stomach cramps. I found it wasn't realistic to how I want to live the rest of my life but it definitely can work. I'm now eating a balanced diet, logging everything and losing 1lb/week.
-
I log workouts. Honestly, I love that MFP is set up the way it is because it makes me work out more so I can eat a little more. I go for a run so I can have my before bed snack of a boiled egg and english muffin.
-
I've lost almost exactly 1lb/week every week
-
Timing doesn't matter. Calories do.
-
I agree that you need to make a plan and stick to it. Plan out your calories to make sure you have enough to eat when you are the hungriest and follow through.
-
I did this. Had the stomach cramps so bad I ended up in the ER. Ate a breakfast biscuit and felt better than I had in weeks. I will never do low carb again. I've lost 17lbs eating carbs.
-
I guess I'm weird. Full d cup at 154, no change 17lbs lower.
-
I'm 5'3". I started at 154 in January and now I'm at 138. I wish it were a quick fix but that's not healthy or sustainable. Plan on losing 1lb/week and keep at it.

I would have said, "5lbs is well within normal daily fluctuations but you are a doctor and I'm sure you know that"
