I used to make Hummus, and a cucumber, cherry tomato and red onion salad w Greek style dressing and feta on a pita. Can add a little romaine if you have it, but not necessary. Keeps well in the fridge and much cheaper to make a big batch of your own hummus with chickpeas for the week. I don’t want the veggies to get soggy…

I am close to 40 and want to get back on track with my health and this app. Need a fresh start and some positive support and understand when people can be less than supportive. Hope we can be friends :)

Yes to spending a lot of money on bigger clothes! It was so so depressing. I gained a lot of weight over the past year+ When my whole routine changed. I struggled with home workouts too. I did so much better at the actual gym, but when they opened again I struggled to breathe working out with the mask and also got a weird…

I lost about 150 pounds. Was going to the gym regularly, had completely cut out processed sugar and was on a good ‘streak’ and super close to my goal weight. I lost hope when I had worked so hard and still wasn’t able to participate in the things ‘normal’ girls could do, like shopping for clothes or dating. I have so much…

Thanks, I did do some yoga to de-stress when I got home and will look into the work out videos. I think that’s a good back up plan so I at least get some activity. In the past many of them (even the beginner) seemed a little advanced for me or used a lot of equipment I don’t have, so I stopped looking. Any you can…

I try to stay away from bread and other processed carbohydrates as much as possible. Anything that is ‘empty’ calories. I do like steel cut oats, but every day and susually only in winter. If your concerned about daily limit, I’d try to go for whatever has most bang for your nutritional buck. For example, I still crave…

I would brace the cold to walk there unless it’s in the teens, but not the wind. It’s really intense lately. Usually if the parking lot is packed then the gym is also overcrowded and I won’t be able to get a machine even if I walked. I can wait a little while, but I only have a limited window to workout/get home/shower and…

Usually there will be a hummus and veggie tray and I will stick with that until the ‘real’ food is served. I love mini appetizers and def struggle when I see/smell the mini hotdogs in puff pastry coming around. I notice that when I don’t have food or am not actively eating people keep trying to push me to taste this this…

I have low iron/anemia issues as well and the pill supplements were hard on my digestion. My doc recommended Floradix, it’s a liquid iron supplement and it’s been AMAZING! Doesn’t taste bad either. Also, I’m not into this myself, but if you want to really up your iron intake from food then many people start eating organ…

Hail Merry dark chocolate almond butter cups! Made with almond flour, butter and coconut oil, so no hydrogenated processed anything. They are super decadent, chocolate cookie cup filled with almond butter and topped with choclate ganache. Only 8g of sugar. They have other flavors and the Meyer lemon cups are good too.

Ginger tea can help with nausea! Yogi makes a good one, but I just get fresh ginger root and make it myself.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but are you getting enough sleep/ downtime? I went through a frustrating slump where the scale didn’t budge even though my eating and gym habits were solid. A suddenly super busy schedule and extra stress had me doing late nights and early mornings. Once I was able to catch up on some rest…

I love hot & spicy sauces/mustards too and just wanted to ad that they usually contain really high sodium. So even if the calorie count is low, you can easily reach or exceed your daily sodium level.

Not an expert, but I’ve lost over 100 and recently gained about 30 back over the past year and had been off track with my gym schedule. Came right back to my thighs and belly. Feel like my body ‘remembered’.

Thanks for sharing your experiences and some ideas. I have had those yasso bars before and will try them along with dark chocolate squares etc. Today there are no sweets around and I’m hoping to do a sugar detox to jumpstart me. After seeing all the super fit people at the gym yesterday I feel very defeated by the donuts…

Put Kale in your smoothie! I’m not a big fan of fresh kale as it’s tough to chew and when I had it cooked, all those good vitamins get blanched out of it, so not getting the benefits really. I add about a cup or more shredded fresh to my morning smoothies and when I do it regularly have noticed a positive difference in my…

My favorite right now is unsweetened vanilla almond milk, fresh kale, fresh ginger, banana, cinnamon and scoop protein powder or chia seeds. I gave up caffeine and having this in the morning really wakes me up! :)

Possibly could be your body is adjusting to life without the junk foods? The first few weeks I did a processed sugar elimination I was soo tired physically and had brain fog as well. It passed and I felt more energy. Maybe your getting your calories, but how much water are you drinking? Dehydration even if mild, could be…

Been there. Sorry I don’t have the magic answer as stress/hormone hunger can be so powerful. For me what has helped is to physically get away from the kitchen/ food, go outside for a walk or to the gym to run off some of that stress/hunger energy. Also, I’ve noticed taking a couple tablespoons of Braggs apple cider vinegar…

I get it! I’m a student and there is always promo people with free food being given away a school. Pizza, pretzels, ice creams, hoagies, cookies, cakes, candy etc. I can walk past most of it but when I smell the pizza it’s so much harder to resist! I keep sugar free cough drops in my bag and that helps sometimes. Also I…

I really crave a sweet dessert in the evening and sometimes plain fruit gets boring. I have had luck with chia pudding. Its really easy too! I make it in advance with just almond milk, chia seeds and unsweetened coconut. Leave in fridge to thicken up a few hours or overnight. Maybe throw a few berries on top when serving…

It’s great that your concerned enough to want to help. Don’t sit back and watch, get involved in their life in a positive way that supports a growth mindset and their goals. i have struggled with my weight and have made a big loss over the past few years. My aunt is inactive and has been gaining more since her dog passed…

Hello! I have a similar issue and did not react well to pill supplements. Increasing iron rich foods did not get the iron levels up high enough and I do have to take a liquid supplement now. I take an imported liquid iron called Floradix from the health food market that’s also has B vitamins it and have not experienced the…
