That's what I need to remember

One of my contacts on here is in her 50s and has a disabling condition that means she suffers pain and can't exercise. She has lost a lot of weight through diet alone and doesn't deprive herself of anything - eats well and enough - it can be done :) Good luck!
-
That'll be me in about 5 weeks - good luck!!

Thanks @fiddletime (btw do you play viola or violin? - my daughter plays viola) I think you hit the nail on the head 'without the bonus of watching the scale drop'. I know what to do - I need the motivation to keep doing it!

Someone dropped off some chocolates, biscuits, pizza, cake etc leftovers in the staffroom today and said, take some! So I did but not for me - for my husband and kids! This other woman who has been moaning about her lack of weight loss took a whole load of chocolate for herself!
-
@mutantspicy I find the same thing for bananas for sure - I've pretty much given up eating them they are so calories dense!
-
Yeah it'd have to work that way - put a little responsibility back on the user to eat reasonable amounts - sounds fair enough :) Also clever marketing :)
-
Sounds like you have some great strategies @PAFC84 could you share any with me? I am trying to do the same thing!
-
Congrats :) If I can offer advice it is know what you are eating in terms of calories and log religiously. Exercise when you can but log, log, log :)
-
I don't think I am either!
-
I cooked it prior and it worked fabulously :) Also added carrot and sweet potato, mint, tomato and garlic lol. But next time just beef, egg and millet will do.

Things falling apart - some rational fears that I can't let go of, many irrational fears. When things go well I expect that something will rob me of my happiness. When things are tough I expect them to get worse. My brain is hardwired that way, it's just the way I am - accepting I am that way helps me recognize it and move…

I agree with the load up on low cal comments. I load my plate with lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes any time I can, also carrot and celery if there is any. Top with soy sauce instead of oil based dressing and you're doing fine. Lean meat if there is any. Then have a smidge of dessert. People cope with this comment-wise…

I feel you @flowergirl1326 - my generic brand 'fitbit' tells me to get off my butt if I sit too long - get some water - go to the toilet etc. Makes a difference even just to your joints/body. Walk to get your lunch if you can or to the water cooler. I know what it's like though :(
-
Thanks @KMom0501 I wish I knew the secret - no I wish there WAS a secret lol!
-
I'm sorry - you are more than this job and I wish you well - it will all work out in the end - but I know it must be hard now :(
-
I am under 60kg on my 40th birthday!!
-
No the best pic - please take my word for it that my thighs are 'generously' proportioned!! I'm 60kg and 169cm

Thanks @quiksylver296 - I am hoping that now my kids are a little older I may be able to do the gym 2 mornings a week - I'd 'only' have to get up at 5.30 though rather than 3.45 so that helps!
-
To do lists are my lifeline at work :)
-
Thank you :) I am not alone - so what do we do about it??
-
@Alice_in_VVonderland you look amazing - I bet people tell you to stop losing all the time. If it is improving your health - stick with it! I cannot commend you enough for walking and exercise in general for depression :)
-
Keep it simple. Exercise for fitness, health, strength (and enjoyment hopefully!). Calorie deficit to lose fat.[/quote] I don't want to hijack - but thanks for this comment. It sums up why eating less is so important for the majority of non-fit people who want to lose weight (like me!). So simple, so difficult when you are…

thanks for the comments :) It's okay, I did sound really negative about it in that post. Of course it's not all like that and I shouldn't be such a whinger! You have actually pointed out my attitude and I need to be mindful of that - thankyou. A number of personalities have left since I've been away and I intend to go in…

I think it will help the people who don't need to be helped: ie those with the skills and motivation to figure out how much to eat and stick to it anyway, without labelling on foods. It will help these people with the ease with which they can do this. It will help a very small minority of others BUT it could inspire some…

Hey all - does anyone find that their anxiety, while making you anxious about everything, you actually don't differentiate between small things that you shouldn't worry about and big things that you really need to focus on as well as you should? ie obsessing and worrying over small things makes you give less attention to…

2nd vote for careful logging particularly when you have a small amount to lose. Buy some digital scales and weigh absolutely everything. Change to low fat wherever possible to reduce kj. exercise 10% more (or more)! Good luck - I am trying to shift the final 5 lbs and it's not easy!
-
oh wow - roasted pumpkin, toasted pine nuts with some spinach - crumble over the feta!

Did you say you were once on 1000 cals with 4 miles walking every day and 1 hour weight training? If so that's a lot and no wonder you were 130! Are you sure you didn't mean 2000 cals a day? I think you are on the right track with weighing rather than eyeballing until you are confident with everything you are eating :)
