I don't know how to do this
Howdy all - I'm just coming off some great weight loss success - 11kg down over 3 months through fastidious logging and exercise. I have a BMI of 21 and have hit 2 goals and within 3 lb of my third, which I may or may not get to, but I'm happy with the 58.5kg at 169 cm I have attained- I'm 40 and female. Maintenance scares…

Just for laughs - freestyle 0 points foods
I'm going to try to tailor one of my days when I can to include only 0 points freestyle foods and see what I come up with :P I notice that eggs, mangoes and bananas are on there as are chicken breasts and plenty of other fruit and veg. I wonder how much food I can get on 0 points and see if I still feel like eating…

Career moms and ladies - how do you do it?
Howdy all - I've been mulling over this post for a little while and I think I have what I wanted to ask straight now. I have a huge inter-country transition coming up in 5 weeks after working in Asia for 2 years. 3 weeks after the move, I return to my full-on, high intensity 'dream job'. I say dream job because I worked so…

Estimating body fat %
Hey all I'm 169cm and 60.4kg at present. I have very little fat from the waist up but plenty around my thighs. I don't currently have access to any special technology devices for fat measurements (except perhaps calipers, will have to check). Any ideas on how to estimate body fat %? Also I'm nearly 40 and I'm female.

HOW did you lose the weight??? Do you get asked that all the time?
Does anyone else often get asked how they lost weight? It continues to surprise me how curious people are about how I lost weight - it's as if they are expecting some neat and easy answer apart from eating less food!

Is the idea that we should gain just a little as we age a fallacy?
It's generally accepted that we (women in particular) will inevitably gain some weight as we age, and that if it is not too much (not sure how much exactly), it isn't a problem. Or at least that is what I pick up through the media etc. Is this a fallacy? Can anyone comment on this - obviously there will be less muscle but…

Sedentary - should I add steps on more active days?
Hi all - my job is pretty much sedentary and I've set my cals for that. However sometimes I do get a bit of walking across the day - but not really in bursts I can time. I have a new fitness band that synchs to my phone but it doesn't partner/mesh with MFP at all (I checked the list). Should I add my steps in somehow ?-…

full cream milk vs skim? CICO users weigh in on this?
From a CICO weight loss perspective: any benefit on full cream vs skim apart from fewer cals in skim and you may feel fuller on full cream (thereby eating less and helping stay under goal)?

2 things I'm struggling with right now
Not so much as a struggle but a realisation of how important it is to go for the foods you want and log them in, making sure you are at your calorie goal, while also making sure you eat enough to keep you satisfied and healthy wrt vitamins etc. Completely unsustainable to deny yourself of foods you love. I've found that…

Fruit (mangoes in this case) is my undoing
Hi all - I'm just coming off some great successful loss - about 20 lbs over just over 2 months. I feel fantastic and stronger than I have in years. The thing is, I have another 10 lb to go - and by all accounts this last 10lb is the hardest, so there's that. But, here in China where I am living for now, they have these…

MFP recipes - can you choose a portion by weight?
Hi all - I've logged a few recipes with ingredients but I noticed you can only choose portions by setting the number of serves in a recipe. I want to do it by weight. Anyone know if I can do this?

Hypothetical calculations
HI all - anyone know if you there is a function on MFP that allows you to input a hypothetical day? I don't want to have to log anything - just to see what I eat at a proposed maintenance level.

Anyone like to guess my maintenance cals?
Hi all - I've lost about 6kg fairly quickly (approx 11 weeks) and have another 5 to go. I'm normally quite sedentary (counsellor, light exercise 3 or so times a week) but right now I am able to do light exercise every day for about an hour total and slightly less sedentary. In June that'll all change again to maybe 3 light…

Body fat percentage?
Hi all - I recently took some measurements and input them to a website I found on here somewhere (sorry computer froze and I lost it!) - my estimated body fat percentage is 29% which is on the 'large' side for an average non-athletic woman from what I can tell. I am nearly 40 and 169.5cm (5'6") and weigh 66kg. I have a…

Grey noodles - japanese?
HI all - I bought some different noodles that come dry in a package similar to traditional Italian spaghetti but are grey in colour prior to cooking and seem more 'brittle' than regular pasta. Maybe they are 'soba' noodles? I tried cooking them but they went gluggy and sloppy - anyone know how to successfully cook these?…

Breakfast Buffet - wwyd?
I'm staying at a hotel that has a breakfast buffet - not the greatest but it has the typical fruits, cereal, breads, juice, plus asian fried stuff, dumplings, pancakes and of course eggs to order etc. I went for steamed fish in teriyaki sauce (tried to get bits with minimal sauce rather that being bathed in it), fruit and…

Plenty of articles out there on this - but I thought I'd ask the collective brains here - what can you do to preserve and increase your metabolism? Which of these do you think are correct/important: -eat at least 1200 kj a day (or your minimum set by MFP) -eat protein every meal -do resistance training

For when I reach maintenance

Healthy bolognaise sauce
Hi all - this is an oldie but a goodie I wanted to share. So healthy too. I am currently living in China and limited in the old food options that I had access to at home - this has been a blessing and a curse! I'm now committing to the blessing side and trying to make my own food using fresh ingredients - in this instance…

Anyone else sedentary and low cals?
I'm nearly 40 and female - sedentary job so very low cals unless I exercise and earn a few more. I don't exercise all that much in the scheme of things and in June this may drop further. Upshot is low cals for me in the forseeable future. Anyone else on low cals with an open/to friends diary care to share and friend me?
