  • Wow. I can relate to how you feel. The story is the same….the people are different.
  • Thanks everyone.... I totally understand that I didn't gain 2 lbs of "fat" in one meal -- but am struggling to understand how 2 days later, I would still see a 2lb increase... It's really frustrating to me -- esp since I am complete motivated by the STUPID number on the scale. I appreciate your insights in putting context…
  • Wow... there are a lot of us! I like knowing that there is support out there.....sometimes I feel alone! I am almost 48. 2 kids. Recently divorced. Want to lose 20-25lbs... I eat 1200 calories a day -- I find if I go much over that I will not lose weight. It's hard to eat only 1200 calories a day. And I exercise! Not…
  • wow!! thanks everyone. i thought that you messed up your metabolism if you worked out on an empty stomach.....but it seems i was misinformed. i definitely don't want to eat that early in the morning!!! thanks for the guidance.
  • I look for sugar of less than 6g per serving. My favorite is a bran flake cereal -- and I add a cut up banana. Kashi has a couple that fit the bill. Nutrition Action Newsletter has a listing and the ones I buy for my kids are Life and Honey Bunches of Os. My market is currently carrying Cheerios Ancient Grains -- and it is…
  • i am just wondering if anyone worries about fat content when dining out.....i try to focus on lower fat and lower calorie options.....
  • I was just down in the Tampa Bay area and really surprised by how young, vibrant, and active the community was. I have 2 kids (7 and 8), and I could totally imagine living there. Def check it out.
  • I personally try not to eat back any calories I burn. Eating 1200 calories/day should result in a 1.5-2lb weight loss per week....so I figure, if I don't eat back the extra calories I burn, I will be closer to my 2lb per week goal. On a day when I don't exercise, I really work hard on staying at 1200.....but on a day when…
  • I would try katsmo's suggestion -- plan each day ahead of time -- decide what you are going to eat, when, and how much.....and stick to it! If you need guideline's -- look at Dr Ian Smith's Shred Diet.....he gives you a schedule of when to eat with choices for each time.
  • call your obgyn in advance of your first appointment and talk to his/her nurse or assistant..... this is not advice you should be getting from any other resource.
  • I want to lose 60 lbs. somedays, i have to have a night time snack just to reach 1200 calories -- i am definitely not as hungry as I used to be.....
  • Before you join a gym, and stress out..... check out dailyburn.com. The first month is free. In the simplest of descriptions -- it is an online workout video library with every time of work out available. See if it works for you during the free trial month.... (I use it in addition to my gym memberships, for night time…
  • there's a lot here about accurately counting calories -- and it's true. but for me, personally, i need exercise. i joke around that i have no metabolism....but for me, i need exercise to lose weight. i have found that hiit training helps me. i would encourage you to go to the gym 5 days a week -- set up an appt with a…
  • You can do it! What is your exercise plan?? My total goal is 60lbs.....but my mini goal is 20lbs by 4/1.
  • I am back on mfp. 2 years ago I was at my goal weight -- looked and felt great. Somehow all the weight is back, plus a few more. I know it's because I stopped exercising and took to many liberties with my diet. I want my healthy self back. My total goal is 60lbs, but my mini goal is 20lbs by 4/1. I would love to be part…
  • That's awesome! The difference is obvious! Good job.
  • I often wonder the same thing....... I feel a lot of anxiety on days when I don't go to the gym, but everyone tells me at least 1 day off per week. I usually do 45-55 minutes of cardio on a machine or in a class, plus strength every other day. I get the part about muscles needing a day to recover and build, but why…
  • Totally get what you're saying...... if you make one bad choice, might as well eat whatever you want for the rest of the day and start over tomorrow. And then tomorrow the same thing happens. Eating an extra 200-300 calories in the morning is WAAAY better than eating an extra 900 calories of junk/bad choices over the…
  • MFP=my fitness pal
  • Would love to have some motivation too! I am a mother of a 7 year old and 5 year old. I was 30 lbs lighter this time last year. Very disappointed in my regression and need to get back on track!
