  • I am totally making this
  • Hey DeeDee - congrats on your progress so far! But I urge you to not cut out carbs completely! Cutting out soda completely is one thing - there is no nutritional value in it. But carbs are very important for a balanced diet and shouldn't be eliminated! Instead I would try cutting back on refined carbs (found in white…
  • I have a zigzagging workbook from AggieCass09 on MFP. Haven't used it yet but she's got a whole explanation in there and uses it in conjunction with MFP - might be worth messaging her, I know I can't quite explain what she did!
  • I think I'm going to make this a permanent thing as well - I'm sure the guy at the 7-11 across from my office is going to miss me but oh well :)
  • Baby steps Travelgirl - cold turkey's not for everyone and any progress towards your goal is still improvement! Good luck!
  • I think it's different for everyone, but for me, it usually takes about 10lbs to lose a pant size
  • One week down!!!! Is anyone else amazed at how quickly you can become a "non-soda" person? I think my worst "craving" times are right after dinner, but I've held strong so far. Glad to see other people have been doing well too - keep it up peeps!
  • One healthy high calorie food I'd suggested is definitely peanut butter - 2 tablespoons is 190 calories and it contains a lot of protein and the good kind of fat. Have some with peanut butter, add it to oatmeal, spread it one some toast, add to a smoothie, or just right out of the jar as a snack on its own! (c'mon, we've…
  • Hope everyone had a great long weekend! I'm kind of shocked that I've gone SIX DAYS without soda! I've definitely had some headaches (probably from caffeine withdrawal) but I have noticed that I do feel a little bit better physically. Anyone else noticed a change yet?
  • Day 3 and the start of the holiday weekend! I feel like I've been drinking TONS of water to replace my usual soda intake! Good luck to everyone over the weekend and keep up the good work!
  • Congrats to everyone who had a successful Day One! I made it through without too much trouble only because my workday was super busy and I didn't have time to think about how much I was craving a soda. Still on track for today - so far so good! Here's to a great Day Two people!
  • Day One peoples! I just got to work and have my water, my morning coffee, and crystal light to go packs to get me through the day! Good luck to everyone today!
  • Alrighty - the countdown is underway! Tomorrow starts a month of no soda! I've been mentally preparing myself and I've purchased some crystal light to make at home and brought some 4c half and half lemonade/iced tea 0 calorie(!) packets to work. How are you guys preparing? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!
  • SO excited to see the response on this! And thanks for the support from those who have already gone soda-free! So I think my leftover Hurricane Irene soda stash at home which should last me through Wednesday and then come Thursday September 1, the challenge begins!
  • Try using spaghetti squash in place of regular pasta Make your own pizzas with pitas, non fat or low fat cheese and load up with veggies (another bonus is that it's easy this way to make a personalized, portion controlled pizza) If you're going to have potatoes, try sweet potatoes instead - great source of vitamin A and…
  • My fav smoothie is a half a cup of vanilla soy milk, a small banana, and frozen strawberries (5-6) which helps with the slushiness. Add ice cubes as needed. I also like to add just a little bit of honey sometimes too
  • I'm right there with you - one is for tracking my food/exercise and usually I have another open with a good recipe idea or something like that open as well.
  • The last 10-15 lbs are really the hardest to lose. Sometimes I feel like losing 50 pounds was easy since my body "knew" that those were all excess pounds. Now that I'm getting closer to my goal weight, I feel like my body's not so sure… Anyways, I would try maybe changing your goals (if you had set it to losing 1 lb per…
  • this isn't really a "baking" recipe, but i've been adding about 1/4 of a cup of pumpkin (pure pumpkin from the can, not pumpkin pie mix) to my oatmeal (plain) in the morning with some splenda and cinnamon. Only adds 25 calories but makes my breakfast so much more yummy and filling!
  • I just cut up an apple, sprayed a bit of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, sprinkled on some cinnamon and microwaved for about 30 seconds. I then added the slices to a half cup of Edy's slow churned vanilla ice cream. Nomilicious. :)
  • This site gives you the shelf life for just about any food and lets you know how long different foods stay good for depending on if you store them in the fridge or the freezer. http://stilltasty.com/
  •  Again - thanks to everyone who replied. You guys are great! :)javascript:add_smiley('tongue','post_body')
  • Wow - all you guys have provided some great advice! I had been buying non-fatty foods to binge on instead (like those 10 calorie jellos that I freeze so then it even takes that much longer for me to eat them and hopefully relax and talk myself out of the frantic behavior) but then I started thinking that I could just stop…
  • Blue Moon is the best! Have you had their Summer Ale, Honey Moon? It is v delicious :)
  • I think I agree with the "binging is binging" mentality, and yes while it is a lot better to binge on peas, watermelon, etc., it is still reinforcing the unhealthy behavior. I think eating healthy is not just about what we eat but the behaviors surrounding eating. I am NOT knocking anyone for their healthy food/low calorie…
  • OMG I think we might be the same person because I just found a B&N giftcard my cousin got me for Christmas and I just bought the Hungry Girl book too! (along with Naturally Thin by Bethanny Frankel, my FAV NY housewife). I'm already drooling over all the recipes in there!
  • If you like eggs, I'd suggest making an egg white omelette loaded with veggies and if you have room, add some cheese
  • Doesn't it feel great to be in single digits? Congrats to you and all of your hard work!
  • I posted the recipe below a while back for black bean and tomato filled sweet potatoes. I also like to fill them with half a cup of chili (I use turkey chili) and a slice of fat free cheddar slice. It's a filling meal for only around 250 calories! Makes 4 servings Ingredients 4 medium sweet potatoes 1 15-ounce can black…
