  • Hi :D I've been here for a few years as well, and as others mentioned: Online shopping is my saviour :) I find it cheaper that Japanese shops, even the old faithfuls like H&M and Zara. You'll find plenty of shops that delivery directly to Japan, many of them even do so for free if you order a certain amount (for example…
  • http://sayonarafatty.blogspot.jp/2012/07/snack-it.html This is my favourite sweet snack/dessert at the moment, having said that, it is my blog :P
  • I'm shorter but weigh about the same... There's walking and there's "walking", but it seems perfectly normal to me. I usually average 250cal for a 45 minute walk. I use another app for walking, it's called runkeeper, so I just went to check my recent walks and found something comparable: Distance: 4.34 km Duration: 44…
  • I have a Polar FT7, not sure what the difference between the FT4 and FT7 is though! I've never used a fitbit, so can't compare. It's simple enough to use and does it's job. I've had no problems and I've been using it for about 6 months. I have no plans to upgrade at the moment, so that says something.
  • I've seen a lot of stuff recommending a 30 minute stint 5 times a week... I don't work out everyday, but when I do, it's a 90 minute or 2 hour affair. So I'm guessing about 6 to 8 hours a week of Zumba, TRX, walking/running. Having said that, I only use public transport (Tokyo baby!) so I walk a lot more than those that…
  • I've been doing TRX for a couple of weeks, I'm still a beginner, I'm still over 150pounds and I have NO core or upper body strength, so many of the moves are super difficult for me. I can't do the pike for example, so I try, (I fail) and I just plank for 45 seconds - and yes, even that kills me. First, I'd like to point…

  • Hi, great story! Just one question, doesn't MFP count veggies as carbs? I've noticed that on days when I don't eat (traditional) carbs, bread/pasta/rice they're still a relevant part of my intake... Anyway, I'll definitely try to do that for a week or two to see how I feel with that type of diet!
  • I also live in Japan and I've just been adding some of the Japanese stuff I eat. Granted I only add the "packaged stuff" like milk, cheese, ham, frozen fruit, LOADSA Seven Eleven stuff... Regarding the "meals" per se, I don't know and I think it's always a gamble when you eat stuff that you haven't made yourself... God…
  • I know what you mean, but really, don't worry about it. It's just water and food, and ultimately (add bad word here) So I wouldn't worry about being full of it because it'll flush out! As others have said, once a week is better, if you do it everyday then do it at the same time and keep a note, after a couple of months…
  • Had that issue today at the gym... Kept on thinking that my legs looked smaller as I zumba'd away. Which is odd because I've been at the same weight for over a month :s might be muscle... Might be the new pants, LOL. Either way, Gonna get the same pants in another colour, I liked the visual effect :D
  • w00t!!!! OMG, you look like a totally different person! Congratulations doesn't even begin to express the awesomeness!!!
  • My personal experience: Ever since I started exercising my weight loss SLOWED DOWN. I think in terms of "weight", what you eat is the main factor. Having said that, I LOVE to exercise, and my strength has increased significantly. The tone of the body is much better, I can move faster and with ease and I would hate to stop…
  • Along with keeping your weight registered (spreadsheet or MFP) I would suggest you measure up every 8 or 15 days. I have been doing this since the beginning and it's my main motivator... I measure around the arm, under the belly button, one leg (at the top) and around my hips. I also take pictures at milestones (5, 10, 15%…
  • 5.2", 27 years old, hourglass shape. Started at 177, now at 150, aiming for 120. Initially I had a goal of 1200 a day but I actually ate around 1000... I didn't understand that my daily intake was a goal I should achieve, I saw it as a line I should avoid (don't know if that makes sense...) Every since I started exercising…
  • I was under the impression that most veggies and fruits ARE carbs, but the good kind..?
  • Hey! I've been on MFP since September but just realizes there was a Japan group! I have a few tips, but I don't know what the others are doing or are into! I sometimes remember to blog (http://sayonarafatty.blogspot.jp/) my way through my weight loss! Anyway, less than one month until golden week!!! またね!

  • Hey, I almost always eat at home, I've found eating out is NOT compatible with my diet! While I don't live alone, my DH doesn't always appreciate my healthy meals :x I've started freezing some of the veggies I buy and I take a bento box to work with leftovers from the night before. In terms of food prices... Have you…
  • I think "stalling" is a part of life and our adventures throughout... So we have to learn to live with it. When I stall for a bit, I use it as an excuse to eat at maintenance level for a week and then get back into the "diet" mode... Kind of like carb cycling but for a few days and only when there isn't a weight change for…
  • Yay, recipe ideas :D I actually live in Japan so I eat this and Konjac quite often, it's really cheap and low calorie ;D The smell when you open the bag is there, but after you boil it and let it dry and add to food it's pretty much tasteless. Here they actually use this base to make zero calorie desserts, like jelly,…
  • Hi, I'm in Tokyo, Japan! I'll send you a message :)
  • :O And I thought I was taking a few... I take a multivitamin, MSM, Collagen 1 & 3 and Hyaluronic Acid. I have Tonalin CLA but I don't usually remember to take it with meals... I'll get into bee pollen soon I hope.
  • Wahey! Keep it up!
  • I agree with twinmon01 The results on MFP depend on god knows what. What you actually burn will depend on how much effort you have put into your workout, your weight, height, etc. The same applies to machines at the gym that just "guess" the average. I use a heart rate monitor to keep track... If you don't have one and…
  • That's really amazing! Well done!
  • Lost 9.9 during the first 30 days... The first 30 days were epic in terms of cm and weight loss. Although I kept up the same routine, it did slow down A LOT over the following months. Now at 26lbs down and half way to go! I find that the amount you lose in the first 30 days doesn't really indicate any success in continued…
